I have tried a different recording volume, which unfortunately hasn't worked out, resulting in some audio clipping on the faster sections. Trying to get the best settings is a constant work in progress !
    Thanks for your patience.
Today, we are taking a ride from Kirkby Lonsdale to Borwick on Clementine, my Royal Enfield Classic 350. Due to it being Easter Sunday, a Bank Holiday, the roads were expected to be busy, so we search for some quieter roads. We found some, lovely, scenic lanes to bimble along. Clementine's exhaust note, is real music to our ears, as she thud thud thuds between the stone walls and hedges. What better way to spend a sunny, Spring, Sunday morning !!!
I do hope you enjoyed joining us on this ride, and will consider joining us in the future by subscribing to the channel.
    Thanks for Watching.
The replacement battery I bought, is a Yuasa YTX9-BS 8.4Ah (20HR) 135A (CCA). Purchased from Tayna Batteries, who provided amazing service.

I see someone in Chichester is painting all their local potholes, with a commentary on the disgrace of them. Well done them. It does at least show councils are past road repair, and into "managed decline" of basic infrastructure.

Well done finding some quiet places on a bank holiday Ian, even bumpy and muddy roads are more fun than crawling along behind Grandad in his Dacia 🐌

Oooh nice, sunshine and dry tarmac (between the potholes). I recently clocked a cyclist at 40mph on the level. He was head down and bum up like on a peloton and of course only wearing Lycra. It reminded be of when I stopped at the scene of an accident where a Lycra clad cyclist had crashed on gravel that had washed over the road on a downhill bend. His leg looked like corned-beef and he was as white as a sheet, his friends had already called an ambulance. I don't know how they dare do it, I'm so grateful for the protective bike gear I wear.

You found yourself some smashing little lanes Ian. Enjoyed that very much. The yellow stuff round the potholes is probably iodine so that any injury is instantly disinfected when you fall into them…🤣🤣🤣

I'm surprised that you managed to find some quiet roads & lanes, Ian, given that it was at Easter. I agree with you about farm dogs; one of them caused a crash for my mate and I, riding two-up, back in early '63, on an unexpected weekend pass. Fortunately, the bike wasn't too badly damaged, but it still cost us both a replacement for torn trousers, plus a night in a B&B and rail fares to get back to our base, all of which stretched our meagre RAF pay a lot more than we'd budgeted for.

Hi Ian, another lovely ride out, you mention having a machine for getting further afield, if it has to be a motorbike fair enough but blag yourself a test ride on a Honda ADV 350 scooter, as well as my RE 350 classic I have one, the difference in performance is like chalk and cheese, easily coping not just A roads but motorways too, 3 position adjustable screen, glove compartment with a USB-C charging point, tubeless tyres, 48 litres of storage under the seat, easily capable of touring, automatic transmission and a very comfy seat, just a thought.
    Adrian.

I genuinely don’t know how to answer that, as I have never considered doing it. That said, I can’t see any reason why not, perhaps extra precautions would be necessary, like more appropriate tyres, extra tubes etc. I am sure some intrepid explorers have already done it 😉

Morning Ian. Some lovely lanes there to enjoy whilst sat at my desk pretending to be working 🤫 Those are the kind of lanes I enjoy riding the most these days. I know what you mean about making videos where we’re riding the same roads repeatedly, but it’s the conversation and observations that matters on such occasions, set against a beautiful backdrop. I’m liking the look of the Shotgun so I’m a tad nervous of watching your video about the bike as it might tip me over the edge to consider adding another bike to the collection 😂
    Cheers 👍🏻😀

Delightful ride around the countryside. Nice to see it all coming into bloom at last. Some of the lanes we've seen before but they're still worth seeing again as the weather and seasons make it all look different each time.

Nice ride out Ian , good advice on the battery, I changed mine last year after it let me down at The Pheasant pluckers rally, I packed up to go home Sunday morning, just got a sad clunk from the motor, I had to get a push and bump started it , I borrowed the battery from my SV650 temporarily just to make sure it was a duff battery and not the charging system until my new one arrived from Tanya batteries, I get mine from them as well .
On the warranty claim Enfield wouldn't replace it , as I'd had the bike longer than three months at the time, and they said that's all the batteries are covered up to !
Anyway never had any problems since👍
    Cheers Mel 🍻

That was brilliant Ian. My type of lanes those; least the ride wasn’t spoilt by those pain in the backside mobile road safety hazard cyclists.
Clementine does sound awesome on the lanes. I wouldn’t worry about using familiar roads; we all do it during our own riding anyway; it’s still very enjoyable and I hardly notice anyway what with the banter and that.
Another commenter mentioned council managed decline of the roads. This is so true because it will start to slow traffic down as the roads deteriorate and it’s another step toward a private vehicle free environment.
So enjoy riding Clementine along the countryside’s beautiful lanes. For it is the nearest we can get to riding on lanes that existed in the early 1900’s at the very dawn of motorcycling and once our political masters have got private vehicles off of the roads we won’t be able to ride them; but at least we will have loads of great videos to watch.
    Take care bud.

Morning Ian 😊 I thought Clementine had taken you back to the 60s when at 5 minutes in, you passed that 500 Bullet chasing the scooter, and then Clementine didn't want to go up that little lane I bet she knew that there would be a Spitfire or Hurricane flying down it the other way 😊 Clementine is definitely taking you home and not the other way 😉 I've been trying to sort my audio out and I know that I'm my worse enemy, silly screen, open face helmet and of corse my accent dosen't help 😊😊

I have to be stupid with a comment. I did not understand when people would correct me on this till I did one of my first few videos. Cocoa tree has pods that we get chocolate from. Vanilla white chocolate is not chocolate as vanilla comes from a flower. Which is why people kept telling me there is no white chocolate. It's normally white vanilla flavored fudge. I start my bike up & let idle for 2-3mins & then rev it to 2000rpm for a bit then let it idle for 1min every 5-6days if wet or not riding it & will go for atleast a 30-40min ride nonstop to give battery a good charge up every 2weeks if haven't been out or been wet, windy etc.I was thinking 🤔 about getting a Oxford Oximiser a solar powered trickle charger since I got no power in shed.Problem with that is it doesn't stop charging once battery charged so was just thinking about using it & checking daily & check charge & disconnect if once fully charged.Might be handy over winter when parked up for a few weeks.

    • @ianhughesroyalenfield
      @ianhughesroyalenfield  Месяц назад +1

Although I couldn’t remember the charger I have, it is the “Battery Tender” for motorcycles, mainly an optimiser as opposed to a full on charger. I bought it as I don’t have a shed/garage, so it needed to be waterproof (which it is). I fitted it into an outside socket box, with the socket removed, with the semi clear lid, I can see what mode it is in. Works well.
