For me, Wolverine pulling up his cowl to Madonna in slow motion was the best single moment of the film. It, to me, completed Jackmans run as Wolverine. The entire story was about how the Fox cinematic universe was seizing existence, and the higher power (Disney) was selecting certain superheroes to go to another timeline (MCU). @DenverEight Месяц назад +118

I think the brilliance of the film is how it takes unfulfilled ideas and shows us how it both works and doesn’t work. Channing Tatum as Gambit walked in a complete comic accurate outfit that didn’t seem to fit him all that well. And it makes sense. From his look, dialogue and even how he fights, Tatum gives 110% and the joke is that he’s sort of a 50/50 Gambit.
On Wolverine’s cowl, it makes sense from a character standpoint. He notes that he was always hesitant to put on the suit. After the death of the X-Men, he never takes it off but never really dons his role as the Wolverine until the third act. There’s even the joke that on his big sacrifice, his shirt explodes exposing rolling muscles yet somehow the mask stays on.
I think the greatest strengths of the film are the cameos, the lead’s performance and the movie’s usage of older Fox Marvel properties. The greatest weakness is that the film dates itself extremely and was made with this particular frame of time of superhero movies in mind.
It makes sense that they marketed the film so much and put behind it so much cross promotion. They want audiences in theaters watching it while it has its maximum effect and full bite.

Also, would have loved more Fox cameos because I thought they pulled them off pretty well. I hate what they did to the Vanessa character. The love between she and Wade has always been the heart of his story. It's the one thing that was never made into a joke. She went from wanting to have his child to breaking up with him because he "didnt put anything above himself"? The guy literally sacrificed himself at the end of the last film for a troubled teenager just to show him that he is loved.
Vanessa went from being a wild, fun, playful, good hearted and loving person to the generic Marvel woman. What was up with her taking a jab at him when she said "Well he hasn't gotten me shot yet" when she told him she was dating someone? Vanessa was almost killed in the first film, then saw what Wade looks like, and still loved him unconditionally. She even wanted to have his child in the last film. But now he... doesn't care about anything above himself? This is the guy who wouldnt even accept money from a girl in part one when he took care of her stalker.
This isn't the same person from the first two films. And it's very frustrating because she was a genuinely lovable character.
Btw, notice they mentioned her promotion at work to let us all know she is no longer a stripper. Because a good hearted and likable female character could never be a stripper to Disney, I guess.

The guilt Wolverine had is real.. my dad was an alcoholic.. he let at the time my 16 year old sister drive herself to cheerleading practice when he was drunk.. she got into a serious car accident and was almost killed… was it my dad’s fault no cause an 18 wheeler pulled out in front of her… did my dad blame himself yes…he had been drinking and he thought it wouldn’t not have happened if he drive her.. which was not true.. but my father quit drinking the next day and never had another drop.. also my father died last year cause of liver failure.. but he blamed himself for years and years..

As far as cameos and references go I loved some of the more subtle, blink and you'll miss it bits.
I loved how one of the songs that played in the car fight was, "This is Me" from The Greatest Showman.
I also loved Deadpool's threat that if Nova didn't back off that Logan would sing Music Man without warming up first as a nod to Hugh Jackman's musical talents.
There was a subtle reference to the fact that Ryan Reynolds and Wesley Snipes did not get along with each other in Blade: Trinity.
There were a couple of "Welcome to Wrexham," cameos.
Deadpool starts quoting Loki when he jumps into the Hulk vs Wolverine universe
They poked fun at Multiverse movies
I loved how Blake Lively was Lady Deadpool and tying to this there was the 207 bones joke when watch Gossip Girl
"Do You Want To Build A Snowman?" got a decent chuckle at my screening.
The Great British Bakeoff helped Deadpool through some hard times.
GET MY COUNTRY'S NAME OUT OF YOUR F-ING MOUTH! was a great meta joke
There were quite a few Mad Max and Furiosa references
    "Paul Rudd finally aged"
Deadpool takes a shot at the LA Rams when insulting Wolverine's outfit
Laura uses her sunglasses from Logan
Ice Skating Uphill was said by Blade referencing that stupid line in his movies
"He's like Batman if he could move his neck."
Deadpool gives Logan the Vulcan salute from Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan
Finally, we get to "the Avengers discovered Shawarma."

Lacks the heart of the originals and crumbles under the weight of exposition and the MCU/FOX references. I was honestly a bit disappointed. The cameos was fun at first but they were underused. Why even have Blade in it at all if all he does is quips. Still better than Gardner who does nothing and X-23 who is used as a shortcut to having some emotional weight put into the movie. Best part was the nostalgic FOX montage at the end.
Funny you compared it to No Way Home where the cameos actually matter and add something to the movie.
6 or 7 out of 10. Fun to see the FOX references but doesn't hold a candle to 1 and 2.

Fully agree with you. I would give it a 4 or 5 out of 10.
I thought the movie was boring at times. DP1 and DP2 are a lot better.
I actually expected the Sabretooth cameo to be this lame - why put it in the trailers?
Personally this was my last effort to gain some interest in Comic Book Movies but I think i'm really done now.

I thought it was a solid 7.5 out of 10. Dead pool of course was the star. However this multiverse saga storyline is clearly hurting the MCU more than it’s helping it. Yes, the cameos from the older fox characters from past franchises was cool fan service. The MCU super fans will love that , But it’s getting to the point where the timelines are getting confusing to where it’s affecting the final product of the scripts/movie. It’s clear that the script writers are having a hard time juggling with it. The movies and TV shows should have never been interconnected in my opinion. I shouldn’t have to go into this movie having prerequisite knowledge of the TV shows! That’s coming from someone who has seen the TV shows. Ryan Reynolds again stole the show. Hugh jackman a close second . Emma corrin was great as Cassandra nova but the writing for her character was very weak. I’m afraid another villian with massive potential wasted. Her motivations were very weak. But overall a good and very funny movie.

    1. Why he was the worst logan is he went into a bloodlust and killed everyone around him. Heroes and not heroes. He explained this to x-23

To be honest, as much as I like Ryan Reynolds as Deadpool, I kinda hope that this is the swansong for him and all of the Fox characters. It really felt like the point of the movie was Deadpool had the chance to be a part of the MCU and instead he spent the whole movie choosing his family over the chance to be in the MCU. To bring him in after this would kinda void that whole idea imo

Im glad you are Dan brought this up. Easy to get lost among the "big names" also in the film
He's the sort of villain I'd like to see return (although I don't know how he could). He hammed it up in a way that fitted perfectly well with the character and context of the film whilst not being too over the top. He also managed to execute the "I'm covering up my crimes, oh f*ck I've been found out" bit we've seen done many times before, rarely done well.
Every moment he was on screen he brought something to the film, which I sadly couldn't say was true for Nova.

    • @AnthonyHernandez-f2e
      @AnthonyHernandez-f2e Месяц назад

The TVA knows because they are time cops, they exist outside of time. Deadpool knows because he's a 4th wall breaking character, he's known about Logan dying since Deadpool 2.
Deadpool steals the TVA device and travels to the future (maybe 2036) to dig up Logan's body because he thinks theres a chance he didnt actually die.
Why doesnt he try to go back and save Logan before he dies? Because hes a meta character that knows he cant go back and change the movie Logan. It's also why Logan's body is decomposed, because deadpool is digging him up 7 years after the movie Logan came out. Because it's a deadpool movie the logic is mostly working on a meta level and not an in universe one.
