Social media in Brazil is all about Fernanda Torres today! Her mom, Fernanda Montenegro, was the first Brazillian actress indicated as best actress in 1999 in the golden globe and in the oscars, and now her daughter won 25 years later!
It's said that her mom should've won the awards for that season instead of Gwyneth Paltrow for Shakespeare in Love, who was heavily pushed by Harvey Weinstein.

Really disappointed with all the recognition Emilia Pérez is getting. Mexican and Latin American voices have been shouting that it is such a disrespectful film that took no care in their depiction of Mexico and the harm that is being caused with it to victims of violence in Mexico because of this lack of care. The director outright said they never stepped foot in the country or cared how it was depicted. Just awful to see our culture being exploited for some Europeans' fever dream while local victims are disregarded and local artists are not given a voice and ignored. From what I've seen, it literally sounds like a film written in google translate, it's disrespectful.
I just saw an interview where the director said he did go to Mexico multiple times but just decided to not shoot there, opting for a sound stage instead

Don’t you mean overrated instead of awful?
This is the internet, if you're not being hyperbolic, you're being ignored.
@@KadeemG61 It can be both overrated and awful; but I haven't seen anyone praising Perez since Cannes.
@@KadeemG61 Nope, I think it's awful.
Cinematic and Box Office Achievement is the most honest award: "Thank you for making money for the suits".
I was a motion picture projectionist in the mid-seventies at a New Jersey beach resort. I showed the movie "Jaws" in the summer of 1975. Dan is the best. "Jaws," forever!
Mario Lopez ripping off poor Guillermo with the tequila thing! Justicia para nuestros vato!😆
Dan makes a good point to correct pronounciations (then says "Zo-ee Sal-DAN-yuh") 😂😂 Love ya mate 🤟
Thank you Dan, this i8s as close as I ever get to award shows any more.
thanks for the recap! love to see kieran culkin and hacks win.. Very lost on a lot of the other stuff lol. It's always the way it goes, but I definitely gotta see emilia perez now
No you don’t. Trust me. You’ll regret it. (Probably. I don’t know what you like. lol)
Love the videos, man. Keep it up!!!
Props for Shogun pronunciation.
Only two head-scratchers for me: Anora getting nothing, and Zoe Saldana winning over Arianna Grande. Which I get, but just disagree pretty firmly with. The Substance has been the fun plot line this awards season. I've heard a lot about how Demi isn't even in the movie enough to warrant an Oscar, but shes in for more than 13 minutes which is how long Anthony Hopkins is in Silence of the Lambs and on the list of Oscar complaints I've heard over the years, he doesn't come up.
Here for Fernanda Torres !!
DEMI!!!! 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
Loved Nikki Glaser~
And thank u, Dan, for trying to pronounce words properly! Shogun was right 👍
And yassss MTV best kiss awards! Put in on the radar! 😂
Thanks for the recap, Dan.
Great video Dan!
I think the discussion for Flow will be interesting. It is my personal favourite of these nominees, the storytelling is something that Hollywood is really lacking, however it’s undeniable that the animation quality is significantly less than the others. Though that’s likely just due to budget.
When all the Rock/Vin drama started I think most people were in camp Rock. Now that we know about the piss bottles, it seems like they are both heels.
Sorry missed the show. I was watching my MN Vikings get absolutely spanked by the Detriolet Lions.
I’ve never seen social media be so united as it is when it comes to hating on Emilia Pérez. 🤣
This man must really like JAWS
I bet horror audience are relief that The Substance won the golden globe for Demi Moore's performance.
It’s a shame Interview with the Vampire and Industry were snubbed even in nominations. I would love to see them in the list. It was an interesting show, though.
Did anyone catch the weird quick cut where they showed what looked like it was backstage. It was like literally a quick cut; very surreal.
Zoe winning best supporting for her lead role. Hahaha
Many such cases.
She’s really good in the movie
FLOW is absolutely deserving.
Nice kick off for Awards season. I think we will have different Best Actress Winners at every major Award. I don't think Demi will sweep.
I want the substance to be nominated for more awards because that means my grandma is going to check it out and get the shock of her life like when the Shape of Water came out
"Emilia Perez is connecting with voters". Translate: Netflix money is making a difference.
Honestly, Rachel McAdams and Ryan Goslings MTV best kiss win lives rent free in my head
Don't bother watching. I just wait for Dan's recap 😅
