Anddddd FINALLY! The Supercharger is in! Thanks to the team at VFEngineering for this awesome experience. This is only stage 1, so stay tuned for what's to come! Check out all the links the description to see more about the parts on my car, along with the build here - instagram.com/spencerberkegarage. MUCH LOVE! -SB
Anthony Michael or forget the cooler and go e85 and throw a smaller SC pulley on there. I'm running e85 with 11psi w/ Vortech V1 on my S52 and making more power than this current setup.
I have an e92 with the VF650 kit. Cooling is the #1 issue with our cars being supercharged. If you'd like any advise or have any questions you could message me @ e92_colton on Instagram. I've learned alot with a few years of ownership.
Here we go again with the “my tuned 335i” is just as good/better/faster than the m3. Let’s just settle this now: you can make any car faster than the other, all it takes is piles of money. The 335 is a great car- and yes, a tune and bolt-ons will keep up with the m3 / out run an m3 in a drag race etc. Let’s not get carried away with the “throw some coil-overs on the 335” and she out tracks the M3... not happening. Your $7500 335i with bolt-ons and racelands still handles like a bathtub full of water compared to the m3. On a side note- a tuned 335d is a Boss as well. Torque is insane. Anywho - keep it real.
Don't get me wrong I love M3's but spending many many $$$ on a supercharger to get marginally more power than a half turned 335i doesn't sound like a good time to me! As far as your thoughts on the handling comparison between the two, other than an LSD, a 335i with the same power as an m3 would probably do decent enough against an m3 on a track.
Yes while the 335i does indeed not handle nearly as well as a m3 a 135i would in my opinion keep up and handle a lot better. It even has the m3s dct automatic transmission and same n55 or n54 motor. Also I am not suggesting the 135 is better then a m3 but saying the 135 I think would have a better fighting chance.
335 kids are the people who regret not spending the extra 15k on an m3 and cope by rationalizing in absurd ways. I’ve owed plenty of m3’s and have been beat by plenty of 335i’s. At the end of the day I still drive an m3
Dude... thank you. Thank you for putting up this awesome detailed video that had the guy from VF explaining all the components of the supercharger kit. It gave me a greater understanding of everything and tickled my engineering bone. -Scotty
Definitely go back to the dyno on a cooler day. Even with stock primary cats your numbers are quite low, but I think this is mainly due to pulled timing from the heat. I had an ESS 550 kit (basically the same thing as VF 540) a couple years ago and put down 450whp on stock exhaust. Even with that I was disappointed as stage 1 kits should be putting down about 470whp with cats and 490-500 without. I'd be very interested to see how much you make on a 60-70 degree day. Cool video!
I think I am sold on that exhaust. You really need to take the stock Xpipe out, it really wakes up the car. Mine is hitting the 400rwh with E85 tune and FBO. Going with the ESS 625 soon. Enjoy the car! Mine will be at 90k soon.

This is the same series engine with the rod bearing issue right? How will it handle the extra loads if at stock power they are already failure prone? Asking for trouble or planning a summer of fun and a quick resale? Just wondering....
TreyKing63 he had them replaced but even then as long as your car is less than 60,000 miles your stock bearing should hold the only reason its an issue is people dont warm up their cars properly even tho the bearings are the weak point of this engine it just comes down to preventative maintenance
Congrats on the VF ENGINEERING supercharger Spencer! Beast.. Hope to see it around on Harbor Blvd soon. Side note: I believe that was a Mercedes AMG GTS actually
I put a bigger turbo on my f80. Stock from factory its 330 or something like that. And now with the e85 tune. Im at 450 on a cool day. Just waiting for these nights to get colder in san diego!
