I have a question.. the 4 chrome muffler tips you have I'll probably be interested for them if you haven't future uses for them let me know pls thz 🇨🇦👍
I went from my first car being a Nissan Altima to a Interlagos Blue E90 m3 after I got my first job out of college. I dropped a stupid amount of money getting the m3 to my preference of reliable and presentable which took me a while to recover from. I still dream about driving this car and downshifting on PCH. This car will forever hold a special place in my heart and has completely changed the way I look at cars.
E90/2 M cars are probably peak BMW sound perfection ❤️ (in the modern era) We need an ASMR video of this car doing fly by's and other outside audio :) Just 15 minutes of pure audio near tunnels and wide open throttle 😊
@@heyhayhay247 Yeaaaah, maybe. Put in the wrong car and transmission though. Mate that engine to something that can row through gears and a lighter car would be a fun build to see. Get on it Speed Academy! Actually wait, the M6 had a manual?
@davetbrunner Both the M5 and M6 had manual options. My M5 scaled at 4,050 pounds. The M6 is slightly lighter around 3,900 pounds while the E9Xs weigh between 3,700-3,750 pounds.
@@eptdy Yeah, I don't get the "it just leaks" mentality either. Oil leak? Fix it. Engine light? Fix it. There's no mental gymnastics to car maintenance.
I had a 2008 E90 M3, but with manual. Was my absolutely favorite car thus far of all I have owned. It was an amazing daily for 5 years, costs notwithstanding. Mine had a Recaro child seat in the back that my daughter loved.
The exhaust bracket(hanger) that you were struggling @16:20, you should remove the bracket from the car, that should make the installation a little smoother.
Watching the beginning, with the brushed VS-5RS track wheels, and having you say you were trying to figure out wheels? I thought to myself, what are you doing?! You have the right wheels! They just aren't on the car! Then the black ones... On that paint color, those are choice. 19" look good posing at Cars N Coffee, but for ride, handling, and ability to handle the occasional pothole, 18" FTW. Plus, a little bit meatier sidewall looks better, IMO.
When I did my rear exhaust, I just unbolted the rear exhaust hanger from the car. That was on the coupe, so not sure if it's the same on the 4 door. The 2 pipe mod with standard exhaust setup, is really a good compromise. Great series this one, you even showed the reality of the rob bearings for our viewing pleasure. Great work as always guys.
You being happy with the sound/application is all that really matters for YOUR car. I’m a BIG fan of YOU doing what YOU want to do with YOUR car…. Screw any haters. Others dislike for whatever reason, in regards for what someone who OWNS their OWN car, wants, is what matters. Anything past that is jealously, or envy, and we know how well that serves us. Car sounds amazing, and your choices have created a car that most will never (sadly) understand.)
These are the kinda videos I love from you guys(along with all of the others😂) I love to see the builds come back and honest opinions after driving them for awhile.
Absolutely love my e90 Everyone has their own opinion on the car but once you own it and get to drive it how you want, it speaks for itself. Super raw and forgiving chassis! Will admit I’m set up for failure with how expensive the engine replacements are but I’ll live lol.
Check a little further into the muffler. There is the 2pipe and the 4 pipe mod. Some cover 2 of the perforated pipes and some cover all four pipes in there. Yours may have the 2 pipe mod.
You guys mentioned it in a few episodes but i really think a Lexus ISF will be a great build series. A 2012 in Obsidian or Granite Mica with PPE headers, an X pipe exhaust and some decent tyre's.
If you want to stop the oil cap from leaking don’t turn the stock cap upside down. We figured that one out at the dealership many years ago. No more leak from the cap anyway lol
Your build spec is great and the car looks almost like mine as I have the oem black 359m wheels for summer wrapped with Conti Extreme SportContact tires as well on my SG E90 M3. I put Bilstein B6 and eibach springs and for awhile it was a bit high for the first couple hundred miles, it has settled down and is perfect height for NYC streets. On a side note, if anyone has CCC/CIC Nav and dailies their car, i can't recommend mr12volt enough, its transformed the livability having CarPlay on any trip, Especially since BMW has discontinued Real Time Traffic on our models.
You've got a really solid build, PT! Those Apex wheels look great, too. I gotta comment on the Bilstein dampers pronunciation. The last half of the name is pronounced stein like the the beer mug.
Looks awesome! Need the IND black painted BMW roundels (not the fully blacked ones) to get rid of that little but of chrome left on the center caps and emblems!
Just did a similar mod to my e46 m3 by adding an additional Ar20 resonator to tone down exhaust note. This in preparation for a Eventuri airbox for more induction goodness.
For a street car the performance loss would be negligible. The ride quality would be reduced slightly on 19"s but with wide tyres like that, there's still so much sidewall.
I miss my E92 335i, but it had almost 200K km on it when I sold it after 7 years. I replaced it with a Camaro SS 1LE, and I did the OEM+ with my Apex rims and Chevy center caps as well.
Just as these were coming to market new, I had the opportunity to drive one at an autocross, wet skid pad and absolutely thrash it on BMW’s performance center track. BMW’s aren’t my thing, but it was amazing.
The absolute best ending to this video would have been Pete seeing a check engine light turn on during his closing monologue😅. Great vid guys. I want an M3 now but common sense will keep me from getting one!
A lot of people seem to not know this, but the OEM M3/M4 backbox acts as a diffuser and when you remove it for aftermarket exhaust, you essentially mess the aerodynamics of the car
@@zacharyparis No performance car like an e9x M should have single piston calipers. The Lexus ISF and Mercedes C63 brakes are superior. BMW failed here imo.
@sdlausen1 I don't entirely disagree from an aesthetic stand point, but they have two piece rotors and the single piston calipers are aluminum. It could certainly be worse. They haul the car down really well, but they can't handle track duty.
My love-hate relationship with my E90 M has led me to sell it. It's such an awesome, true driver's car, but also a finicky money pit. I've spent a ton modding and maintaining but I'm never satisfied and always chasing another issue. I'll regret it but time to move on.

I'm not trying to be a hater but the screw in funnel is exactly the kind of thing I would expect for this car. The original BMW design was a leaky so its replaced with a 4 piece cap and adapter system. I like the 80's BMWs. Easy to work on and beautiful. Swap a coyote in there and you have everything.
