This series was literally a life saver! I was looking for a cheap reliable car when this series came out… Inspired by this build I bought a clean white LS430 and de-grandpa it. After 6 months of reliable, worry free ownership I was rear ended sitting at a red light, guy was going 50mph on his phone and totaled the car. I’m convinced that big booty trunk let me walk away from that accident. Got a second black LS430 only to get flooded by the hurricane in that same year. Figured I’d get something else after the bad luck so I got a ISF, however there is something nice about driving a cheap old boat I miss
@@jeremyb4493rear leg room/space isn’t anything special in the ls430 imo. My brothers e38 on the other hand is. Whatever it’s missing that the Lexus has in trunk space, it has it in the rear seats
I have an ISF 2009 and also a 2003 LS430 the isf is a lot more stiff and the interior is pretty small. I mostly daily the 430 and use the ISF as a weekend car! I have PPE headers, full borla exhaust, rr racing intake + tune Making 426whp rn , love it
Thank you Dave! You instantly relieved years of guilt from K&N filter cleaning negligence on my part in a 2 minute segment. I will sleep better tonight! 😄
I think the part about the Flexus that's so appealing is the idea of an affordable car that can be made something truly special and stand out from the cars that seem to get all the attention on RUclips (GTR,RX7,etc.) granted they get attention for a reason but it's refreshing to see something mundane be made cool.
what an awesome car. we have a 2003 with 200k miles and its just such an amazing and wonderful car. great job on all of the upgrades yall did to the flexus... love it!
As much as an ISF would be cool, I feel like it's also nice to have some kind of stability in your life, and if that's a car you can daily drive and not think about "How do I turn this thing into more content?" and also not worry about things going wrong, I feel like it's a win
those custom homage wheels give me so much envy & it honestly deserves a montage of executive suited up, Dave & Pete cruise before the send off if you do
love the Flexus, but the ISF is one of my dream cars. y’all really know how to make some clean cars, so it’d be so awesome to see ur take on that beast of a car 👌
ISF owner myself. Love this channel and all the builds. Interested in an ISF build with the Elate Supercharger and tuning. Or a 2UR swap on the Flexus perhaps.
I love these cars, wanted one for years. They're quite rare to see here in the UK. This one looks like a lot of fun and sounds epic. Next year I may well pull the trigger and grab one before they get much older. Cheers :)
Dave, if you guys do decide to sell the Flexus, I'm genuinely interested. Love the build and care that you've put into it. Agreed that the wheels really tie it all together!
I own a 2008 ISF and would love to see a roots style supercharger setup. There’s plenty of potential in that platform, but not a lot of choices for forced induction.
air intake upgrade would help supercharger sound and give some power with it, i think would be a nice upgrade but stock look is so nice, great build a lot of inspiration for my own build!
You should delete that 3rd cat, it doesn’t trigger the check engine light and I’ve heard it improves the throttle response too but I’d def recommend doing the ISF build 😅
I would love to see an ISF build. Although if you're thinking of replacing the LS for and IS for family duties, I would strongly suggest spending some time with one, even if it's a base IS. They are small, especially considering you're coming from an LS. I have a 2nd Gen IsS350, and if anyone sits in the back, the passengers knees are in on the dashboard.
I think if you go down the replacement route a GSF with the new Elate supercharger kit would be the move. The Flexus is such a Speed Academy icon though!
1st Gen ISF is undoubtedly cool and would be a great successor, but would it be more stressful to drive in the sense of rust and/or damage from the road/other drivers? The Flexus is not a beater car per se, but has a IDGAF air about it - it will take the bumps and bruises with less to worry about compared to an ISF. The S/C setup still makes me want to go with an Elate setup for my Tundra, except I've heard that even the M90 based TRD supercharger is tough on and can bend 2UZ rods...
My gs400 had to get a bunch of stuff done. Balljoints failed withing 20k of previous owners replacement at 80k. Door lock actuators failed within a month of buying the car, steering wheel motors failed aswell. Those motors I fixed for free by just sanding the contacts, actuators I had to buy new ones. Key snapped in half, twice, both front and Rear calipers were sticking and the rear started leaking through the bleed screw so I went ls460 bbk in front and am waiting to do rear as I found cheap calipers to replace temporarily. Powersteering pump, valve covers, engine mounts and the master cylinder combo unit all failed at or before 120k, starter at 130k, the starter was already replaced at 80k with the timing belt by previous owner in 2018, however the starter was replaced with carquest, timing belt was an OEM belt asin kit. Tie rods need to be done now because of a slight accident, body work getting done as we speak, and also my valve seals are leaking. I did my acis solenoid with the starter, its the VSV underneath the manifold that actuates the variable runner length flaps, noticed increase in throttle response with no cel. I kinda just got unlucky with it, but I've replaced them all with OEM for likely 1500 including some of those being pulled from a junkyard, like the sc430 bms. The valve seals aren't terrible either and fairly common across ALL cars this age so I'm waiting for timing job, and the starter only selling reman from lexus now. I need to replace the radiator soon as preventative maintenance and might do timing job as preventative maintenance based on age aswell but dread reshimming valves and pulling those seals. Did all the work myself so I'm very lucky to have spent maybe 1500, maybe 2k if you add in the bbk and calipers that I rebuilt to save, all on very long term jobs that should last me at least 5 years, maybe even 10 years and even got excuses to modify the car, probably 3k with all mods included, coilovers, swaybars, exhaust, regear, etc mostly sourced from facebook marketplace.
For a florida to canada car I'm honestly amazed at the level of rust. Or lack there of lol. That's like a nightmare scenario if you were to hear your used car was originally in florida and then went to canada... I'd be a little spooked.
I think it's time to convert this to an intercooled supercharger kit by swapping the manifold adapter plate and showing the power gains that result from doing so. The ISF is much smaller interior and trunk space wise, so for hauling the kids around, it would be more difficult. If you want to jump to a different platform, I echo the calls to build a GSF.
Hey fellas, you can't actually warp a rotor, when you did pull it off there is an alarming amount of buildup behind it, even a fraction of a millimeter can cause disc thickness variation. Try grinding hub face and adding anti seize.
I personally love the car, if it were mine I would continue pursuing more power like adding the charge cooler option, adding headers and a full exhaust, just to see what the 3UZ is capable of in a street cruiser.
This has no right being my favorite SA project.....

It's my second favorite. The k swapped civic track car they did for PT's brother was my favorite.
This is my second favorite, just behind the E39 M5 wagon. Two fantastic builds.
2nd favorite. First is probably the Integra. But, an LS 430 will probably be my next daily! Just saying.
Liked it so much I bought an '05 :) lovin it!

Lucky you isf is so expensive arm

This car is why I subbed to the channel.

One of my favorite builds on your channel. Timeless classic design and the mods you guys did were very OEM+. Awesome to see it still running well.
This is one of my favorite daily driver projects on all of RUclips! In fact, I've been looking for the right LS430 for a few months now.
I love this build. As a long term LS430 owner myself, when this build first was introduced I was beyond excited. Love seeing the update!
That filter was so dirty it almost seemed like a prop.😂

Nice. Suspension details? I need inspiration. Debating replacing the struts with OEM. That, or lowering springs or coil overs. Need them to last.
Wait which one is 426whp the 430?
The Flexus!
YES YES YES to the ISF build. I really miss my ‘08. What a great car.

I currently daily an ISF with the elate development supercharger. You would love it!
Only thing is you lose interior space and rear seats don’t fold.
What do you mean "lose interior space" i have a 2011cheers.
@@navaho5430 compared to the LS430 the ISF interior is more cramped.

Still one of the nicest rides on the roads, inside and out super clean till this day! I loved my ls430

I really like what you did with that build, and I'd also love to have an IS-F. That's a tough call, but I vote for keeping the Flexus.

In my country the use 300zx or RB transmission to manual swap it.
