For the fuel system, any reason you went with -4an to each rail instead of -6an to each, in the process of buying all the parts I need for my SC LS400 build. Also in regards to the radium fitting. Their website lists 2 parts for the M14 inverted flare to -6an, one is short, (14-0118) and the other is long, (14-0121). Which one did you get? Thanks.
-4AN is an adequate flow size at the FP psi delivered and for the demands of the system up to about 450whp, which I’ll never see, so -6AN would have been overkill. I actually didn’t end up using the Radium fitting and I’m not sure if it would have worked or not. Apparently some systems are short and some are long, so you really need to verify on yours (or do what I did and just cut the soft line and use a barbed splitter. 👍
BTW, you probably want the “short” Radium fitting if you still want to get it.
You did a phenomenal job with this series. I'm sure thousands of us appreciate the thorough breakdown of the process and even went out of your way to make a parts list. The list alone is extensive!!! From all of us in the UZ community, thank you for all you have done.
That’s one of the kindest comments I have received in a long time. Thank you for typing it. 99% of people probably don’t realize that filming, editing and producing adds twice as much time and effort to every job. It honestly sucks. And I assure you that what I receive from ad revenue is like a small tip or what I call, “hobby money.” I’ll never make it big doing this, but for now it’s enjoyable and good folks like you keep me going. Thanks again. 👊
I fully understand the added time it all takes. It makes me 2nd guess recording at times. Sometimes i just want to wrench and enjoy the project, and i dont receive any "hobby money" 😆. Keeping it enjoyable is key, and i hope you enjoy it much longer.
@@ForwardMomentumWhat about fuel consumption after installing the Supercharger?
It stayed exactly the same and I track it religiously. 99% of driving is partial throttle, closed loop, so really there was no negative impact in regards to mpg.
Been waiting for this. I have a LS430. Was curious on fuel, vacuum, coolant line relocation
You’ll see it in episode 3, but for coolant lines to the TB I just bypassed the TB and mated them together. Depends on your climate, etc.
This is by far the best channel for everything GS. Deserves more subs, much more.
Ive had my 1998 GS 400 same color I bought it from one of my teachers and I just saw your channel a few weeks ago and it really inspired me to wrench on my GS more. I love your videos they are very well in detail and I cant wait to see what a beast your GS will turn into!!
Man great video really appreciate the detail. Just picked up an LS400 and am so hyped on the 1UZ platform. Subscribed and will definitely watch the rest of the videos in the series!
Great breakdown! One of the best DIY build series I’ve seen🤘🏽💯
Vids keep getting better and better as does your build! You’re awesome.
Wow Christian, just when I though your amazing videos couldn't get more epic, bamm! I've been considering forced induction for a minute, and I can't wait to see how your blower works out! I also highly recommend an LSD insert. My OS Giken superlock is finally broken in, and it's running smooth and lighting up both tires for some super fun power slides!
Awesome! Yes, an LSD is definitely on the menu!
Im prepping my 430 for a manual swap and a supercharger, I was gonna use your manual swap series for the transmission and speed academys superchargered ls430 videos, but now I can get them all in the same place!!(and you explain things soooo much better)
Great to hear, thanks! Your 430 will have some minor differences from my 400, such as ECU reflash (mine can’t be flashed) and stuff, but most of it is the same. Good luck. Let me know how it goes!
Can’t wait to do this on my 05 tundra
Nice supercharger, pretty manifold, but awesome shirt! Perfect choice to kick off the series.
I missed the video when it was released, now I can binge watch it
Looking forward to watching this project .
Exactly what the GS 400 needs. More power 👍
Ok, now do one for a 2JZ lol. I really wish adding that style of supercharger was applicable to the 2JZ. I see guys run centrifugal, and do NA-T builds, but to me, nothing beats the whine of a supercharger. I did see a guy in Australia add one with a bird catcher on a 2JZ, it's a burnout car and super unusual to not go turbo but he was getting major power from it. Love your vids, makes me want to buy a 400 or 430. I've also contemplated a SC430, they're so ugly yet underappreciated with a fantastic motor.
I agree with you on many counts. I wish I had the luxury to make vision both 300’s and 4X0’s. I think the issue is the inline runners and how to get an adapter plate with small outlet into 6 runners efficiently using this style of blower. I also like the SC430’s actually. I would definitely consider one of those.
YEAH OMG I've been wanting to swap a 2003 Toyota Tundra drivetrain into my 97 Toyota Camry for a Fun drift build...so this cOOL too
Can’t thank you enough for the help
dude thank you soo much for posting this info now I want to supercharge my 430
Cool, hoping to try this with my 1UZ equipped Crown Majesta
I have this same model and year it's a fun car to drive stock. I could only imagine it modified how much more fun it would be.
Episodes!? Absolutely love it.
Yes, probably 4.
Awesome videos - 👍 Question would this setup pass the sniffer test in California?? Prrobally would not pass visual- what do you think?
Highly doubtful it would pass visual. Sniffer? Yes. I haven’t changed a thing in regards to the OEM emission control system. Heck, it may even burn cleaner. But Kalifornia regs would result in a visual issue. What do they call it, getting ref’d?
Nice. I’ll definitely be following. Was hoping someone with a gs400 would do this ever since I saw the speed academy guys install it on the LS430. My gs400 has been sitting for a year haven’t decided what to do with it…….😈
I been waiting for this video since I seen the picture 💚
Very cool man, excited to see how it turns out
Let's goo! Can't wait to watch em all!
Will you be doing a cost rundown for the supercharger build? Also you are doing amazing things for the GS and 1uz platform and all of us watching are grateful for your content 🙏
Thanks! You’ll need to go through the list in the vid description and look it up. The reason I don’t put cost/item is because a lot of the pricing is variable by region, someone might be watching this 10 years from now when pricing is totally different, and I want to be respectful to vendors and not put them in a bad spot.
Wow..long awaited
Hell ya so excited
Great video, you da man 💪
How tall is the supercharger + elate manifold? Thinking about running this on a 240, but I’m unsure if it’ll clear my hood.
9.5-10.5”. There’s a range because there’s a high point on the back of the SCr by the TB, but the casing as a whole is 9.5” with the adapter. Contact Travis @ Elate for precise info though.
How did you go about the ecu and tuning for all this though? Or is it in series
Series.
Question if i was to do this build on my 03 430 do I still need the other electronics you have in this build or would getting the ecu remapped by quantum auto work in place of those or would I still need them
Definitely send Brandon a note and ask about what the remap can handle. The biggest thing is if it can be adjusted for larger injectors or not.
@@ForwardMomentum thank you sir I was watching the speed academy videos and they didn’t change the injectors and they weren’t able to get the afrs down to the 11.5 you got yours down to and we’re having power issues so that’s why I asked
Also I watched your hidden features videos and in my 430 I have the navigation screen and I was able to access that smog filter level you described by holding down the auto button on the ac controls on top of it and could adjust it through the touch screen in case any of the guys with navigation were wondering
will this work on a stock motor 3uzfe? or i gotta pull everything apart, change pistons, rods, & etc
It will work as shown in the series.
Let's goooooo!!!
👌1uz with supercharger
People are going back to the Lexus just watch
One day
Hell yea dude!
I would love to know that radiator upper hose Part Number. I think the stock GS one kinda sucks and is too short. I got a supra aluminum modded radiator. The stock plastic end tanks wont hold up in hot weather or with hot engine temps.
I wish I knew! I tried to rattle off as much as I knew in the vid. Sorry!
@@ForwardMomentum I have been googling and can't find that anywhere. I would probably just go to oreillys and look at the closest one in the back with radiator hoses.
That’s a good idea. Then you would be famous when you found the actual P/N! 😎
@@ForwardMomentum LOL. Just an idea for anyone else.
@@clairebear5029 Did you ever find the hose part number or an equivalent hose?
do you plan on having your ECU remapped by quantum auto?
No. Not possible on the 400. Have to piggyback it. I’ll be using the SS Enricher, Apexi NEO, Walbro 255 and larger injectors to get my 11.0-11.5 AFR target.
Nice work broo
Welcome, my brother. I wanted to ask you, my dear... I have a GS 400 model 99. I don't know what happened to it. When I install it, the agency filter does not work well at all. The RPM rises and falls and when I installed the original KN filter it also never works properly no matter how much you press on it. The accelerator pedal does not respond and the engine shuts off completely and I replaced 6 air sensors to no avail.
I programmed a test for him that shows me the air clock, knowing that the clock is working 100 for 100 now he pumps more oil than necessary and works improperly. Please advise my brother
Please scan for codes and report back. Thanks.
Knowing that the agency filter and the sports antique filter when I ride them in my colleague's car work very well
I didn't hear you say it in the video, but what is your hood clearance going to be?
Maybe I’m not understanding the question, but I can tell you with 100% certainty the 3.65 pulley that comes on the Cobra M112 will fit if you have the inner and outer lips lathed off. You also have to cut the hood support flush to the skin. This will be covered on EP3 in greater detail. The problem with the 3.65 pulley is it will require larger injectors, which requires a controller, which requires an AFR gauge. Never ends does it? 😳
@@ForwardMomentum you answered perfectly lol. I was just wondering if you would have to cut open the top of the hood at all
It will look the same as stock with the hood closed. Then you’ll open it and people will be distracted by the blower anyway. 😎
@@ForwardMomentum can't wait for the final product man. It's going to be amazing
You can already see it on IG if you want a sneak peek. Looks clean under there!
How much roughly does it cost from accumulation of parts to proper Tuning?
Probably around $5K USD. More or less depending on deals and what you can find used or not and how strong you want your transmission to be.
@@ForwardMomentum can the stock transmission handle the supercharger at stock pulley boost?
My auto trans went out with intake, exhaust and a tune. And it was modded. I hate the A650E trans. Check out my other vids for more info.
@@ForwardMomentum I've been trying to watch them all you have wonderful content! How much power did you make with that? Was that excluding PPE Headers?
I don’t know exactly, maybe 250whp? Not much. I don’t have headers. If you shim the accumulators and run a cooler it should last for a while at 5-6psi. Eventually it will go with enough WOT runs though.
Drop episode 2 please I’m ready to build my gs400
Well considering EP1 dropped today, it might be a couple weeks. 😆
@@ForwardMomentum 😂 it’s cool I know just being impatient your channel has kept my attention to keep working on my gs400
Where did you get a stick shift GS400?
Swap. 👍
@@ForwardMomentum awesome only part I did not like when I had one was the automatic
I agree!
I gotta non vvti 1uz in a ls400 how would this differ from a vvti 1uz in a gs400
A fair amount. Concept is the same, but you’ll need to research parts differences.
@@ForwardMomentum would you still recommend intercooling a non vvti 1uz running 6psi on a m112? Since stock internals are different than vvti internals
Yes. It helps in non-boost scenarios as well. It cools the intake charge at all times. I could really feel the difference.
will this all work on a ls400??
What year? VVTi? If so, sure, why not?
My sc400 is pre vvt-i can I still use this video ?
Concept is the same, but parts are sometimes different. You’ll have to research the differences.
@@ForwardMomentum ah ok, I’ll do that. Thanks so much for the reply 🙏🏽❤️
What’d you gap your plugs to?
.038 IIRC. Down a touch.
@@ForwardMomentum do you happen to know the part number on summit for those spark plugs? There’s like 4 different types and I can’t tell the difference
Sorry, I don’t know off the top of my head.
This is only for vvti?
Basics steps apply to any UZ really. You’ll have to sort through the nuances.
👌👌👌👌👌👌👌👌👌👌👌
I have a trunk full of parts in my GS430 already, you’re making me think about fitting some more in. 🥲
Most amateur wrenchers can't handle a dual screw supercharger, but anyone that can assemble "16 and up" Lego instructions can install a centrifugal supercharger, so why don't you do an episode with that install, a video the average tuner can genuinely use...
I’d be happy to switch to that type and do a series on it if you send me all the parts.
Echoing
i make like 600 a week can i afford this as first car
I don’t know your other expenses. Only you can answer that question.
@@ForwardMomentum just bought a ls400 109k miles
Looking forward to it. Only thing that sticks out to me is the Febest idler bearing. I don't trust the quality of anything from them. A quick search shows INA "532 0534 10" to cross reference. Seems to be a French made bearing.
Fair enough. Everyone has their experiences. I will tell you that it’s what Elate recommends, what my buddy runs and what I run with no issues.
@@ForwardMomentum Febest is a Russian-owned importer of Chinese aftermarket parts. Sketchiest QC. Cheap for a reason. Maybe Elate has availability issues with alternatives but at least INA makes their own bearings for all European automakers
All good. If mine blows up I’ll be the first to come back here and eat crow. 👍
@@ForwardMomentum Hopefully not but good to have alternatives. I've had cheapo bearings ruin belts
Can you give me an average cost of parts?? Wana do this on my 99 gs400
Please see video description. 👍
