Take the brake light switch out and reset the plunger pulling it out with a pair of pliers. When it was crashed the driver probably stamped on the pedal pushing the plunger too far. I’ve had several like that. Faulty brake light switch also causes the start stop error. If a reset on it doesn’t work, stick a new one in as it may have electronically gone as well as physically.
IIRC the brake switch has two circuits - one for the gearbox release and the other for everything else (Inc. ABS, ECU, etc). As the brake lights are on this is stuck in the on position and telling all ecus that 'we are braking' - the ecus don't see that as true so throw a wobbly. Replace the brake light switch, quick, easy and very cheap. Then clear down the codes and see if it's any different now. Good luck.
Hi Mark have you tested the brake switch to see if it’s working correctly that would be my first thing to eliminate. Then if that’s working ok disconnect the battery and charge the battery over the weekend then reconnect the battery it would give time for all the ecu’s to clear down it don’t take much in the way in power spikes to put the ecu’s into a world of hurt. Am sure your crack it
Always a first when a car beats you , just a thought with the brakes it’s not the hill assistant to stop you rolling back stuck on is it ? As that is what it looks like to me ?
I had 1 car with the same system and heard a lot from factory. At the end it was the clutch and an actuator that works to the clutch. This is not automatic, this is automated so essentially a manual gearbox with this robot
I am listening to the last part of your video and you said low mileage. I had one VW Polo 2010 with the same technology, since brand new with me. This happened so suddenly with 28K miles. My neighborhood is with all sorts of mountains, and I had a colleague who were VW engineer. He said to me to go to a specific dealer where those guys were the instructors were formed. They looked and said exactly what I said you. Unfortunately the clutch will be heavily used depending on the conditions that you are using the car so that robot is not using the clutch in the same way that a human does.
Gutted to see you defeated on this one but time is money . I looked at my MES in simulation mode and can see it is quite involved with the adjustments to set up the clutch, torque settings and actuators. Probably worth getting the engine and gear box out . The engine can be used again by you or sold on . Plus you would at least see if the clutch was knackered. Some one might be interested in buying the gearbox and actuator. Which I think is probably ok after you overhauled it.. Good luck.
Swap the brake light switch with one that works The message on the can network is telling the gearbox ECU that you are pressing the brake pedal that’s why you have to press the throttle harder to move
I think the ECU is reducing power/revs as it thinks the brakes are on due to a faulty switch or wiring. My Insignia auto cuts the engine power if you touch brake while on accelerator....safety feature to stop you riding the brakes. Try it in ur truck...i bet it cuts the power even with just enough pressure to put brake lights on...manual sprinter vans used to do it 20 years ago.
it happens to us all at some time, enough is enough. Buy a front end damaged one and use all the bits, push it out in the yard and part it out, weigh in whats left 🙂
If you can start the car without pressing the brake pedal then it’s got to be the brake light switch. The ECU thinks the brakes are on and won’t allow the clutch to engage. Try disconnecting the brake light switch and go from there
It’s not like you to give up on something Mark, come back with a fresh mind on Monday. It could be as simple as a faulty brake light switch, or the main earth cable under the battery tray - Love 500 has experienced problems caused by this earth cable in the past.
Put the other rear light on on vauxhall corsas with that kind of gearbox if the rear brake bulbs wereblown they did similar sort of thing just a thought
@@ResurwreckAutosUKI know you have seen a few comments on this but as my previous 500 had a problem with the brake switch, I can only ask you to try that first. Is on the passenger footwell and will literally take you 30seconds to access.
Yeah got to be he can start it without pressing the brake, it should not start? also it may be stopping the gearbox from working cause it thinks the brake is applied.
You have won bigger battles than this Fiat bud.... If you have got your leg in I fully understand... but maybe for a simple switch , have a thinks about it bud...sleep on it....

I have had this a few times on crashed fiesta's, I just replace them if they have this fault. Replacing the switch has always worked for me.
@@Love500 Hi mate do there’s have two switches one on the inside passenger side and me on the gear box
@ just the one in the passenger footwell unless the dualogic is different but I doubt it.
@ ok buddy I do have a black 2017 I’ll take that off and try it
@ it’s got to be worth a try. I think it’s gone electronically too due to the error you’re getting on multiecuscan.

Totally your call. Perhaps reassess it on Monday. Sometimes it's good just to walk away for a while and clear your head 😊
@@mark120964 Hi mate yeah you are right I’ll have a think about it buddy
Best to find another 500 what needs work still love the videos
Hi Mark could it be the solenoids on the actuator

Deffo right choice, had a good go at it and gained experience - but when not cost effective have to draw the line for sure
hi mark i am concerned you can start the auto without pressing the brake pedal
Brake light switch is making the gearbox think you have your foot on the brake.

brake pedal switch?
I agree , enough for a 2010 car , loads of parts, front end, rear end etc
Been there before

They do hold back. It doesn’t move until you give it some gas. It’s meant to be like that but not to 1500 rpm.
Yes definitely use it for parts no point going ant futher
I would say the brake light switch is but have a word With Paul at love 500
Perfect parts car
If one wheel moves and the other does not, the problem may be in the differential. How much is a new gearbox? Part it out.
try unpluging the brakepedal switch and see if it starts

Need a relay hack

With the car off of the ground lock the passenger wheel and the drivers side should turn, if it does the the diff is working.
I guarantee it was playing up before the accident. It's the gamble that a car doesn't have a pre existing condition?

only 1 wheel will turn with it off ground. it called a diff.
