In town it has to be MDM/traction as you said, but if you want a really loud bang from the stock exhaust try being in sport+ with tc on or off, in 3rd gear from about 1800 rpm - full throttle letting the turbo spool right up and then at about 3800-4500 rpm let off completely and at the same time press the traction button to enter MDM. You’ll get the typical N55 Thrum noise and a very loud bang. Takes a while to get right but you want to be right on the edge of the rears losing traction as you get the shove of torque. If they break traction it won’t work but once you’ve mastered it, there’s really no need to upgrade👌🏼
@@HappyDude1 my car does 😅, whether it changes to sport when I turn traction off I don’t know... Regardless, give my method below a try in sport plus, you can still do it with tc on.
well if it allready has more then 10 000 km you dont have to drive the engine in sow you can drive in high RPM all the time :) but a 120i dousn't have a sport exhaust, sow if you want some noise you will need to change that
@@HappyDude1 By the way. My 1 series is a very similar spec to yours. Also a white color, M sport shadow edition, 3 door which you don’t see very often... really looking forward to it
@@HappyDude1 Well maybe I will yes. I’m also planning of some small modifications, like the M140i exhaust which looks a bit better in my opinion. Also a small spoiler lip, but a very very subtle one.
Haha man i need this car, just got the sdrive2.0 z4 from my sister and its also if you put it in sport + traction controll off it pops and bangs also if you gear up to 2 and 3 gear it pops haha thats fun and made me addictet but now i need the real one. The OG M2 and the M2 LCI is my favourite car of all at the moment. The Design is just banging. Its simple and clean and the sound ist gangbanging HAHHAHA
Yeah its fun 😀 And its a very good looking car And very fun to drive To fun actually, thats why the cops gave me a letter to come and talk about it 😅 I had to sell it ....
@@HappyDude1 Yes it a absolutly is. Is is in Belgium like here in Germany? when you have a car like this the police can say the car is too loud with this modify exhaust and when you tell him no its just the original stock exhaust from BMW they say no we do not think this and then your car gets confiscated for some weeks/month and you can do nothing?
@Mark Ott If they see some other tuning like big wheels and to low to the ground and engine tuning they can take it away yes And they put it back to stock by bmw on your expense and also a big ticket 🙄
@@HappyDude1 Thanks. Do you know the name/model by any chance? I am looking for a spoiler, but the original M Performance spoiler they are selling just does not really look appealing to me.
Great vid, I assume these sound changes apply on most modern BMWs with these modes. I will try my car with DSC off by holding the button down. If the car is overall louder then that's what I'm looking for, even if it might have less burbles than Traction mode. Also, I've had my car for about 2 months now, didn't know that the little hole at 1:11 was for holding the petrol cap!!!
Thank you Yes try it out 😀 but carefull its cold and wet !! And yes nobody knows what that hole is for haha 😅 i always wondered and stared at it for a few minutes, and then i saw the light 😁😁
Thats because thats the way we drive with a manual Automatics change gear all the time just to save a bit of fuel. But it gives a lot of wear and tear On the transmission and the engine.
lol that's not a popular opinion. Even amongst s55 owners. The twin turbo with unequal length mid piping makes for a rougher more drone prone sound profile. The n55's single turbo doesn't seperate the exhaust path between cylinders and mistime them against each other (due to the unequal length midpiping) so the exhaust sounds better.
Said no one ever. 😂 i could easily have chosen a M2C.. seats are better, engine pulls harder and way more tuneable and the lci lights are nice but.. no matter what exhaust you pick, down pipes, it just doesn’t sound as nice.
@@AlexSeddon11 you can get close with the equal length midpipes that some vendors are selling now to bring the exhaust note in sync between the two cylinder banks, but yeah it's still not gonna be quite the same
Now when i say use high rpm
You dont need to do that wIth full throttle 😋
happy to find your video. I'm about to get my M2 in two weeks from now :)
Im hope you will be as happy as me 😀 stay tuned for more

Awesome video man. Shifting at 5000 rpm for louder bangs works on some AMGs too, that's why I always shift manually.
works best with 1/4 throttle ^^
Loved your video lad. I’ll make sure to follow your tips this summer.
Just gently warm it up
And then let it rip! And yell more POOOWAAAH! 🤣

You cant be in sport+ and turn the traction control off.
You can not combine 2 modes
I allready made a video about that 🙂

What you say about m performance exhaust?
if it is a real one with the valve that can bypass the muffler, buy it :)
Its weird, but staying in avgear louder does feel better when driving

Does this also works on the B58 in M1/240i's?
it can work on every sporty car :)
Will high octane burn your catalytic converter?
No it burns cleaner
So everything will be xleaner
But dont use nitro or ethanol 😀
When you turn traction control off is that mean your car automatically in sport + ?
No
