The gas peddle is annoying too, barely any foot room with the gas peddle. Also very compact space in the backseat. Always have to pull the front seats up for the people in the back to fit properly. The one thing I do like about this vehicle is the solid exterior body material. I bumped (crashed) hard into things by accident a few times & it hardly made a dent. Strong exterior body. 💪
Wow, if that's all that bothers you then it must be a good vehicle. I just bought a 2011 Nitro and hope it can stand the test of time on these rough country back roads.
I have a 2010 and right now the road in town here are a mess and in rough shape I've had mine for a year if you take care of it it will last you a long time mine has 211000 miles on it
Appreciate this video as well. Knowing about the difficulty of the filter is a big deal to me. Your other dislikes I don't think are really major issues but I can see how they'd be annoying! THANKS AGAIN for your reveiw!
They have problems with the heater core. Got to take the whole dash and console apart to replace a $29.00 heater core. Labor to do this is $1700.00. I have a 2008. I love it, I lived in it for 9 months traveling. I just do without the heat. South in the winter, north in the summer. Wish they would bring them back.
I had a 08 Nitro and the head room getting in sucked. Headlight replacement is super easy. For the oil filter, rip out the plastic oil run off. Once you do that, getting to the filter is much easier.
The radio and the antenna in these cars suck also. There is a chip inside radio that need to be heated or resoldered do to the no volume on AM/FM radio. and if you need to replace the antenna good luck getting it off without messing up the antenna and having to replace the whole antenna base. There's also a common wiper issue where they run by themselves and the interior lights staying on common issues with the TIPM or BCM module wish cost a lot to replace. also when hitting bumps the nitro rear end likes to jerk you to the side of the road and could cause a crash looking for a fix for this maybe the track bar in rear is the issue.
I have a 2,010 Dodge Nitro SXT I just put a shit load of work on it I put new struts and ball joints tie rods shocks rack and pinion steering power steering pump pulley new belt new starter new brakes and rotors new thermostat new radiator and alignment I'm pretty much done now next I'm putting a Flow Max with a duel exhaust and a new L&M intake filter and new tires and I'm done I love mine it's a keeper it has 20s on it they are chrome I'm not a big fan of chrome so I am going to get the rims power coated black 🙂✌️.
The Nitro is pretty basic overall. My gripes: Nitro rides pretty rough. It’s a character flaw across the board, not just mine, so if you do a lot of traveling, this isn’t very comfortable for long trips. But short distances are okay, just watch out for uneven pavement, potholes, etc, cuz you will definitely get tossed around! Don’t recommend it for off-road driving. Also, the Nitro is narrow from side to side, so not a lot of room to move. And no air vent for the backseat passengers. Good mileage though, nice basic SUV. Good in snow too. It’s a dependable car.
2010 Nitro owner here, agree with you on the headlight unit replacement, it's a pain. Agreed on tinting front windows and on better lighting inside the car. Don't agree with oil filter replacement. I find it to be easy enough on my 2010. Oil change is easy, I don't even jack the car up. There is enough clearance for me to slide under the car and pull the oil plug and filter with basic tools. I like your blue interior, BTW.
good to hear about 2010. Going to buy one, and was thinking they'd charge me extra to change the oil if its difficult to replace filter. I imagine for an older model vehicle, oil changes are needed more frequently than the newer autos?
For the headlights I rested the whole grille with headlights mounted on a tall chair in front of the car then I bungeed the passenger side up, made the assembly swap a little more less frustrating
this 9/2023 and I have 2008 Nitro R/T I love it I only have 80000 miles on it looks like new inside and outside the 4X4 and the 4.0 will take you about anywhere you want to go.
I have a 2010 dodge nitro Sxt and all the windows were tinted. The front window has the upper part tinted. For most tall men the door head room may be a problem. Since I'm a 5'4 woman I dont have no issue
@@flowerbombmarie5409 Honestly im just now seeing your reply a year later. However to answer your question I love my truck I just dislike the fact the previous owner b4 me didn't really take care of it
I can absolutely confirm the pain in the butt oil filter, that was my #1 worst thing about the Nitro. My arms are pretty skinny but I could still barely flex my way up to that elusive oil filter.
I really want a 2010 Nitro Detonator 4.0, 4x4 , I think I could live with the things you're uncomfortable with. I mean you look like a big fellow thats about 6' and I'm only about 5'6" thanks for your video
Hello 👋🏻 I have a 2008 Nitro and I’m really agree with you about the 5 failures plus gloves 🧤 🧤 compartment no light also. Probably there are more issues about this kind of vehicle. But after that I am happy 😃
Hey! Great video! By any chance can you tell me what year this model was made? I'm really want to buy this car and it would be very helpful if you can share that info. Thank you! 😊
As quirky as the 3.7 is at least that engine has a timing chain . The 4.0 has a timing belt which is just one more item to maintain. You didn't mention the lack of leg room in the front.
@@AyrAlliance6'5 and I find it quite comfy compared to my old dodge caravan. Even in the back seat I have space for my legs even without adjusting the front seat
4.0 timing belt and water pump sucks also when the back window breaks it's just a wire and plastic roller for a elevator sucks also jejeje but still love it jeje
Most states differ on what's legal for the front windows as opposed to being very loose with the rest of the windows that's why most cars don't come with them tinted. I'm with you though, after having fronts tinted it's hard to go back as if you're on display for everyone at a red light
Dean Buffoni I have an ‘07 R/T and I also do a majority of the maintenance myself. The oil filter on the R/T (as you stated) is right next to the oil pan, which is convenient, but it’s a MESS to replace it. Oil spills everywhere. For comparison, my wife has an ‘08 Hyundai Veracruz and her oil filter is accessed through the top of the engine and the excess oil flows down back into the engine as opposed to draining under the Nitro. Pros and cons to both designs, for sure...

What about the suspension! It will knock your kidneys out! Like riding a washboard and a spring!

Do you have problem with car been frosting inside blin winter time while your driving

Who got a dodge nitro ? And hasn’t caused them any problems in the last year
Jayquwon Brown not me lol

Love mine 55,000 miles and TIPM replaced by dealer before i drove off the lot! 2008

What rpm does this car drive at 70mph? The only reason i didnt buy one is because it only has 5 gears
Most of them only have 4 gears. At 70mph mine is at 2200rpm.
OMG, 4 GEARS? these must be so long ... my 330d has 6 gears, automatic. and i think its around 1800 rpm
Yuri Periotto all I’ve seen are 5 gears for this SUV’s, I got the RT model 4.0 quite a bit fast 💨
It's not just you with that door being small. I have the same problem too.
I'm hopefully if Dodge will bring back the Nitro and redesign it

Altho I do like the design

LED dome lights will take care of that issue!
