  • Just a few things I hate about my 2009 Dodge Charger 3.5L V6. Have seen many people do these videos, but not for the V6 model so I thought I'd share my opinions. Maybe some of these are relate-able with your V6 Charger as well!
    I do love my car and am glad to have it, just wanted to nit pick these things for the video!

    buying a v6 charger doesn't make someone stupid, what makes you an idiot is buying a v6 charger and expecting it to perform like a v8. I have a 3.5 and the only problems ive had is normal like brakes and struts that I just replace and its 10 years old it has just enough power for me I would like more but as ive stated I know what I bought so I don't expect it to run like a v8

      Siedah Shanel yes of course, never said I expected it to run like a V8. Unfortunately what a lot of the comments didn't get was that I purposely had to seek out things I didn't like and talk only about them for this video. I have a things I love video as well, same idea just different context.

    I've watched most of your videos now man. I appreciate the research you've done. Now having owned a 2007 SRT8 Charger, a 2012 Yellow Jacket SRT, and now a 2017 Hellcat Challenger your videos help me put some things into perspective better than I was able to before. BTW the interior materials in your SE are nearly identical to those used in my 07 and 12, so you got that going for you. Also, the looks, the first charger, in my humble opinion is the best looking of the modern age. Ask someone who doesn't know anything about cars what the new Charger is and they might know it because of how common it is but not because it screams Charger, Dodge, or Mopar. Peace!

    Post a video of that squeaking noise if you can. I had a noise in the back of my 2007 charger 3.5 and turns out it was the back seat. So what I did was take out the back seat, both upper and lower parts. It's just a couple bolts and some annoying clips. Before I put it back, I put some really thick anti-rattle tape on every mating surface for the back seat and I guess trunk (?). And that fixed it 100 percent.
    Good video. We need more Charger RUclipsrs repping for dodge

      Thanks for the support! I'll try to get one but it'll be very hard to film. I can def tell it's coming from outside rear wheel area (brakes are new, wheel bearing maybe? parking brake maybe?) Usually over bumps, tends to be the smaller bumps rather than larger ones, but the suspension feels good so I don't think it's that. Not an urgent issue just annoying.

    I bought my 08' Charger SE for college (for gas mileage...) 4 years ago with 75k miles and now have 142k miles now.
    My Charger has always had the issue of the windows fogging up on the inside when it's really cold out or when it's raining. Every winter I'll be heading to work and all the windows except the windshield and driver's door window fog up (or if it's 25 degrees F or below they'll frost up), horrible inconvenience and also a safety issue since I can't see out them when on the highway. People have told me to run the A/C and switch the vents from windshield to recirculation to help it, but then my windshield fogs or frosts up.
    Poor gas mileage for a 6 cylinder, no balls, and so much money replacing parts (replaced both rocker arm assembly @ 87k miles due to a horrible ticking, the water pump gave out at 120k-ish miles, I have a horrible growling noise coming from the transmission or rear end when in 4th gear that I have no idea where to begin on).
    Should've bought the Impala...

    5 years later, got myself a 2021 Charger 3.6L V6 AWD, I guess they've made some major improvements, most of the inside is still kinda on the cheap side, but we got more leather in the parts that matter, visibility is still low but I expected nothing less from what's essentially a low rider compared to a Jeep or a Dodge Ram, which is all I've driven before this Charger, also it may not have the best of the best gas mileage, but it still has better gas mileage than my '04 Jeep Liberty, where I could only travel one round trip to the next town over, approx 400km, my Charger looks like it can go at least nearly two round trips, so almost double that distance which is amazing to me, and this was even with me speeding past people, so not just all low rpm highway speeds, which made it even better to me

But the 3.5 isn't under powered it's just a big car it's not going to move it like the hemi in my 05 300c. Don't have the transmission issue you have though since mine is an old police charger it has a 5 speed auto stick transmission.

    Seems like smaller engine cars have picky transmissions. My sonata would launch pretty well... Sometimes. Tho its not fast at accelerating it could out run a stock v6 charger and hit at least 130 but sometimes it would take of noticably slower. But it could also be that the acceleration is asked for at in odd time in the engines cycle and it conflicts with the computer controlling the transmission so it doesn't put down as much power as you want it to.

    I definitely feel you on visibility. Coming from an 02 Subaru Forester, it was definitely something to get used to.
    I've got the 5 speed NAG1 that's in the R/T in up (AWD does that) so I don't notice that as much, but it's definitely possible.
    I JUST GOT THAT SQUEAK IN THE BACK OH MY GOD I'M SO PISSED OFF hahaha. In terms of engine repair, I'm staying super up-tight on maintenance and getting precautionary repairs done.
    I feel you on the V6. But the 3.5L community online is super great and doesn't get then "high and mighty" folks like the HEMI.
    Gas mileage... Yeah. Driving for hours on end on the highway I do pretty well, but I'm filling up 15-17 gallons at 250 or so miles.
    The interior... Yeah. I'm starting to cope though.
    All Wheel Drive baby! But I seriously hate how electronic it is. Even with AWD it's a pain in the ass.

    • @MarspeedCars
      @MarspeedCars  7 лет назад +1

      Yeah I fixed the rocker arms and still have the tick so guess it's gonna be like that forever...and my god the squeak comes and goes, I think it might be the parking brake because the suspension looks totally okay but who knows, I'll try to figure it out after winter. Jealous of your 5 speed! And yes I agree the 3.5 community is great for the most part

    • @coleG112
      @coleG112 7 лет назад

      Oh, my squeak is actually inside the car. In my Subie I had the same thing... But it was my backseat hinges squeaking, since the seat folded down.
      Alas, the Charger doesn't have a fold down seat. So I'm thoroughly confused. I do have front squeaks in the tire area though, and it's not my breaks. Probably some bushings or something, as I just had my wheel bearings replaced in the spring.

    • @MarspeedCars
      @MarspeedCars  7 лет назад

    Just just top of your head opinion one that comes back pretty mechanically sound how much do you think one would sell for? This is going to sound silly but I have been looking for a month and a half for a used car in my price range with no major issues (electronics, trans, engine) and ran across one of these listed. It's frustrating personally because I was just looking for any car to/from work but I live in an area where used cars are on their last leg and the good place to buy them is outside a reasonable trip borrowing a car.

    • @MarspeedCars
      @MarspeedCars  7 лет назад +2

      Yeah it can be hard to find the right car sometimes lol. Price depends on the mileage, something around 130-150k miles should be around $4000-6000. Something with 60-75k miles can be anywhere between $8000-11000. (This is for an SXT with 3.5L V6, stay away from the 2.7L it's not great and has problems). That's my rough estimate (this is in Canada btw so might be cheaper if you're in the US).

    • @NirvEnd
      @NirvEnd 7 лет назад

      Thanks seems in getting myself into one at 137k miles for about 5.5k so sounds reasonable. I need to change up the wheels and tires. It adjusts to how you shift over time, so if you drive easy for a while it becomes sluggish because it thinks you always drive like that. If you drive faster then it becomes quicker shifting. You can also reset the transmission I made a video on that too!

    Keep up the good work... I have the same Charger and yeah... I agree with you... I bought my Charger brand-new in 2009 and after owning this car for 7 years I decided that this will be my last Dodge product that I will ever buy. It's a beautiful car and all but just too many issues. I'm lucky enough to have a mechanic friend in Mississauga so my repair bills are not that high compared to the dealership. Also, a 3.5L V6 with 250hp should be faster then my 0-100 km/ph in 9.3 seconds.

    I own a 2013 charger and two things that he mentions are valid. The visibility out the back especially when it is raining is horrible at night and the traction during winter is not great with all season tires. To combat the rear visibility at night issue, I installed a rear view camera and now it is a joy to park such a large car. I recommend the camera to any Charger owner.
    As for winter driving: you are driving a beast and you MUST treat it with respect. There is a lot of weight in the front but not much in back where the drive wheels are. Spinning the tires is very easy. To make things a little easier, make sure that you have your newer tires in the back and load your truck up with sand or salt to plant the back end. If you take these two recommendations, you will love the Charger. It is cool to look at and is built for North America unlike most Japanese cars.

    Not the 2013 pentastar I love the v6 coupled with the 8 speed automatic, I get 30 around town and up to 55 on the highway if I keep my foot out of it. As for problems I've had none, I did buy the lifetime warranty from Dodge but mainly because the 8 speed trans has 5 CPU,s to control it and if they go out it can get costly. I plan on this being the last car I own, I had my last car a 94 Chevy Blazer for 19 years and before that I had a 73 Cadillac Eldorado my first car also 19 yrs. so if this one last 19 it will be longer than I will last....lol
