    Have to watch those substitute values. Sometimes there will be a voltage PID to reference off of to verify. In this case the temp gauge was your clue. Could have also checked voltage reading at the engine computer. Glad you figured it all out in the end.

    I'd still test for leaky injectors... Check the upstream fuel trim then run a lead down test if it's rich. If the injectors are good check for gas leaks and then check the check valve on the fuel pump.

    • @OzMechanics
      @OzMechanics  Год назад +4

      The last test I performed in the end verified this video as just a bad check valve in the fuel pump. Did you watch the video end.

      @@OzMechanics I thought I did, and I recall you mentioning replacing the fuel pump, but I didn't realize you got that far. Still it's hard to think how low fuel pressure at start up flooded the cylinders. It should have kicked over when it got fuel... in a rational world at least... but that was a Chrysler products, as I recall, so I guess, all bets are off.

    • @OzMechanics
      @OzMechanics  Год назад +1

      What flooded the engine was the temperature sensor was reading too low which caused the computer to dump more fuel and saturated the cylinder. In the beginning of the video I talked about how the vehicle was stumbling at initial start up. You can rewatch. That’s the cylinder running too rich. So when ever the vehicle is was shut off and was ready for restart it would have a hard time starting because of all the fuel in the cylinder caused by that faulty sensor. Does that help out ?

      19:03 .. my dodge has done this off & on for a few yrs. Recently been doing it more frequently. In video u stated u were going to replace the fuel pump. *Is that what you ended up doing* 🤔

    • @RJ-vb7gh
      @RJ-vb7gh Год назад

      @@my_flippin_journey It's too easy to assume that the same symptoms with a similar car should be caused by the same thing. While this was somewhat true back in the day when cars had fewer things to go wrong and there were fewer kinds of cars around that all broke more or less the same way, it isn't true today. Find yourself a good diagnostic mechanic... not a parts replacer and have your car tested thoroughly and then it will get fixed right the first time.

    I have a 2011 dodge nitro heat the starts cold every time, but after it is warmed up 20 25 min. If I turn it off and try and start after a few minutes it tries to start, sputters but does not turn over. If I wait a bit and try again it starts up with no problem. Very confused. It had a new fuel pump put in just a few days ago.

    • @OzMechanics
      @OzMechanics  Год назад +1

      The temp sensor was causing the over fueling which caused the engine to not turn on after driving it. And after fixing the temp sensor, I noticed that it had another issue with the fuel pump not holding pressure after shutting it off. Fuel pumps have a check valve in them that hold pressure

    pressure loss is either fuel pump ....fuel regulator diaphragm or a bad injector

    • @OzMechanics
      @OzMechanics  11 месяцев назад

      Not a bad injector as we debunked that by priming the system first before cranking it

  • @neknekmo4129

    Faulty injectors? Injector lines or maybe even the fuel pump?

    • @OzMechanics
      @OzMechanics  9 месяцев назад

      On the video I sent explained it was the sensor that was causing the ecm to ive fuel the system. That’s why the precios shop changed the spark plug because they were over fueled. The second issue was the fuel pump. The fuel pump is supposed to hold fuel pressure but the check valve went bad and didn’t allow that. So on the test I performed when I cycled the key, it allowed the fuel pump to prime the vehicle so it could start right away after cycling the key a couple of times. Thanks for watching! Hope this helped

    • @OzMechanics

      I would think that on a newer vehicle like a 2009 that it would look at ambient temp sensor, air temp sensor as well and if it saw the coolant temp sensor it would go into open loop. I would understand on an older vehicle acting up just on coolant temp sensor because it’s more of a primitive

    • @MarketingCoachKen
      @MarketingCoachKen Год назад +1

      @@Mountainmanfishing OK. I have NOT seen many people solve this problem with a fuel pump. Otherwise you would see everywhere that this was a simple fix. I also recently did the oil pressure switch. When driving any time I stop at a traffic light or stop sign, the oil light came on. Simple fix. The new sensor is a very tight fit to install and I bought it from the Dodge Dealer. The first challenge is getting the threads of the new sensor lined up to start screwing it into the engine. After you finally get the perfect angle for the first few turns, it starts going in but there's quite a bit of resistance. You CAN"T finger tighten the oil sensor. I had to use a short 1/2" ratchet and use plenty of leverage with my weight to slowly turn until I could tell that most of the threads were in the engine. I do have long arms and I was able to do the repair by removing the headlights and grille assembly to reach the sensor. This sensor must be slightly larger than the hole it goes in and it uses like a plumbers tape to seal and make sure oil won't leak. It's difficult to screw in because it's a poor design. The only thing you don't want to do is keep turning the wrench after the sensor has already been screwed in all the way. This is the main thing to keep track of. Otherwise straight forward, and the how to video is here on YT.

I took the coolant tank and battery out whenever I did oil change and tired then. mine is a 2007 and the oil filter is a PITA. I have been trying to find out what the whining rumbling noise is whenever I accelerate it sounds like Transmission but it shifts fine and I changed Filter and gasket in it. Replaced the front prop drive shaft that wasn't it. It also sounds like it can be coming from rear end I changed oil in it and everything seemed fine and sometimes it sounds like it's coming from front axel. It has been a PITA got a new fuel pump too. I'm having a mechanic do the CV Axels,Fuel Pump and Rack we traded some stuff I had for some work. I'm disabled so it's harder for me to work on. oh and I had to put new rotors brakes and a caliper on the back.
