Here we have the latest and much anticipated DIY hilt from KR Sabers, One Replicas and WannaWanga - the Graflex Saber Kit!
Over 3 years in development, our plan for this kit was to create an ideal entry-level kit for beginners to start their lightsaber building journey, and what better way to do so than with the original lightsaber!
It all started in 1976 when Roger Christian, a Star Wars Set Decorator, went down to a photography store in London, looking for something he could make the lightsaber out of. Inside a forgotten box, pointed out by the store owner, he found some flashguns for Graflex "Speed Graphics" Cameras, and instantly knew he had found it!
He bought the lot and raced back to the studios, into his set decorating room where he kept all kinds of things. He took 7 pieces of some black T-shaped plastic strips and put them on the flashgun as handles. In the clamp, he put a bubble strip from a calculator he had broken down, a Texas Instruments Exactra 19 from 1974.
When he handed it to George Lucas, he just held it… And smiled...

Hello, I just received my kit ESB version and it's amazing. Compared to most replicas I have tried this feels really nice in the hand as well as it's finish. I did notice few things though, like there is no hole for a thumbscrew button or glass eye. I also noticed in the video there were no brass sync contacts where the pins were, but I did see a slit where they could go. After this, I have decided to buy the brass contacts from the graflex shop and was wonder which ones would work? Long or short?
Hey! Thanks for the kind feedback. So, there’s no hole for the thumbscrew or glass eye, but, if you look closely on the blade holder, you’ll see a small ‘dimple’. This was deliberately added to give customers the option to either drill for a TGS glass eye thumbscrew, or, drill totally open (by stepping up incrementally) for a shine through effect. So, we left that as an option for users ☺️
In terms of the sync contacts, this was overlooked, and you’ll be pleased to know we will produce a batch of them to offer to customers separately along with spring-loaded blade plugs. 😁

Is the glass eye on this shine trough? Or would i need to order the seperate one (parks/korbanth) also?
Thanks! Glass Eye isn’t shine through, but, there is a small dimple underneath where the glass eye sits to allow users to drill through if they wish to make it shine through 👍
I just finished my install and was wondering if there’s any update on the blade plugs or sync contacts? Also, is there another front slotted screw (above the glass the) that will reach the blade for retention purposes? Mine seems a bit short.
Yes. They’re available on The Saber Armory now. Both the Sync Contacts and Spring Loaded Plugs. 👍
Also, the screws are slotted oval 4-40” thread screws. If yours isn’t reaching, you can buy some longer ones and cut it down to a specific length to suit your blade. ☺️

Dumb question but does the blade come in a separate order or do i get one with it and also is it possible to get a longer blade, im new to the lightsaber things
These don’t include blades. Please refer to the item description to see everything that is included. 👍

Yes. The button is included with every hilt. It is mounted to the blade holder.
