this is how you do a budget lightsaber, you're so smart with what you're buying that it doesn't look budget at all, and honestly, that doesn't just go for a lightsabers, that goes for anything you're building or doing on a budget.
@@BucketheadStudios OH! Something I forgot to mention (a minor thing, really) is that I would rivet the covertec wheel in because screws look to Earthly for my taste. That's just me tho, I still think that this saber is marvelous!
This is not only one of the best budget builds but one of the best DIY lightsabers I've seen. The brass parts really make it look great. A little nicer piece of aluminum tubing and a blade with electronics and this thing would be tits
That looks awesome, well done. I have made a start on mine and am pretty pleased with the result so far, I have never built anything like this before and I am really enjoying the process. Great work as always Bucketheads!
If you weren't hosting the challenge yourself, you surely would've won! Great quality of work as always. Really like the look you went for and as others have mentioned, this is got to be one of the best sabers I've seen for this kind of budget. I have to finish mine soon... most of my parts I already had or obtained cheaply from a yard sale. Hopefully will be sharing finished pics soon. Can't wait to see what others come up with!
20 British pounds , is that more or less than 20 Imperial credits? Also were you aware that Darth Vader was a very keen home improvements DIY type guy and that was how he got the parts together to build his sabre , from the plumbing section at Home Depot.
Gaizkia lmao saying that is literally the same as saying obi wan’s episode 3-4 hilt, since they are both thin necks, and that is what she is referring to i believe. also luke used the same design process as obi wan to make his ROTJ hilt.
Hi, although the material costs are under £20, the work involved would push the price up. This was also a 'buy what you can get' kind of project, so no guarantee I could get the same parts. You could do a lot of this with a couple of hand tools and glue. I know I used power tools, but that only speeds things up a little. I would say you could do it with a hacksaw, files, sandpaper, craft knife, and a power drill (the drill only if you wanted to do something similar to mine) The rest is just the hard work getting everything fitted together and glued up. I'm not closed to the idea of commissions, but the many hours of work have to be taken into account :)
Buckethead Props Definitely understand that-as with any craft, hours put in play a factor in the price. I’m happy to take this to DMs to see if we could work something out, and if not, no harm no foul.
The brass really does it, we all dream of using those fittings of brass but never do it because of weight or lack of skill/equipment. You did a great job there, too bad you cant machine it and put electronics in it with a blade. Maybe do it again with the electronics and blade in mind?
The brass parts will be tricky, the pipe parts - just look for pipe connectors, big ones were 40mm, small 32mm, and end caps. Aluminium pipe I believe was 40mm, which is about 1 ½ inches I think. Unfortunately most of it was just looking round stores to see what they had on offer, and making it up as I go
I've noticed that also. Intentional or not, they all end up looking like one of the original trilogy sabers. This one is a little different in that it looks like Darth Vaders lightsaber had a lovechild with Lukes RotJ saber.
This should've been the lightsaber luke would've kept if he kept his lightsaber Like how he did with Bens lightsaber, but he would've used Anakin/Darth vader's lightsaber with his green one
This is THE best budget saber I've seen. Nicely done.
Wow thank you!
Buckethead Props you deserve it it is great!
100% absolutely still stands today! Champion, thank you @Buckethead Studios
This has got to be the very best budget lightsaber I've ever seen, well done
Yup, is is by far the best spare parts saber I've ever seen.
Thank you 🙂
Awesome stuff dude, as always. Gets me motivated to build a sabre for myself.
Yes! Do it 😁

DISNEY! this saber , OVER HERE! use it on a movie!
I like how you went with the more Vader looking emitter verses one that looks more like Obi-Wan's or Luke's emitter

Wooo well done in starting, look forward to seeing it 🙂
Been looking for a tutorial forever, this has got to be one of the best builds I have ever seen, will be out tomorrow to buy parts, thanks so much 😎👍
Thank you! Good luck with the build!
That looks really great! I am collecting some stuff and then i will start building my saber too. Can't wait to do it =)
Awesome! Can't wait to see it 🙂
How to build a lightsaber for under 20 bucks.
This is a graflex cap I happened to find just laying around!
can totally be done without it and within budget, and had an idea for the bottom before I found it.
I started with this Vader’s Vault saber I found just laying in the street... lol
Haha I found this kyber crystal on top of my fridge
Finally one in a currency that i understand
Dude, you deserve so much more attention. Video is really great quality, your props are amazing, and you have an overall great channel. Keep it up
Your imagination is just amazing
A fine addiction to my collection.

Haha thank you, yeah the design turned out quite well
@@BucketheadStudios yes indeed. :)
This has such a beautiful classic look to it. So many later lightsabers seem over-engineered.
Thank you! Yes, was going for a OT look for this one
Great videos, I'm super inspired by your creativity.
Thanks for sharing those incredible skills of yours.
Thank you! 😁 though I'd forever argue my skills are mediocre 😄😄
This is creative. I should try to build one myself.
I better do this than buying one on disneyland
Also more in the spirit of the force.
nice to start with something ligthsaber look i like brass part
Your fantastic lightsaber looks like a mix between Yoda's, Luke's and Vader's saber.
A fine addition to my collection
Very nice! What a cool project and a great budget too!
This will make a fine addition to my collection
The way English people say aluminum makes me die every time
Its actually spelt differently over here, there's an additional i! 😁 aluminium
this is the best budget lightsaber ive seen and now i really want to make one, just wondering what are those brass pieces called for me to buy ?
I'm afraid I don't know, just in the plumbing section 🙂
Saber (metal) Shop 101! Good Job Sir!!
Really good hilt design, now you've got to build a blade.
This was actually really great and inspiring. Thank you!
Thank you! 😁🙌🏻
personally I'd maybe add some rubber strips to get a better grip near the bottom of the saber, something like Mace Windu's lightsaber :D
Wow your really awesome I might build mine
Ok that's showing off
it's awesome (what colour would the blade be?)
Blue!
I need this. Oh my god it’s perfection
It looks very nice🤩!!!

Beautiful work.
Fantastic video!! Very entertaining.
if vader’s lightsaber and obi wan’s lightsaber has a child
sherman lo I was thinking a fusion of Vader/Anakin and Luke’s green saber
That’s what I was thinking

@@setht7322 its also literally the same prop. Only changed somewhat.
In the name of the Galactic Senate of the Republic, I will create my $20 lightsaber now.
Do it! 😄
Nice work 👍 love the end result 😃
Looks absolutely fantastic!
I like most of the saber. Not a huge fan of the join between the grip and emitter, but still great
Are you open to the idea of selling one of these? I’d love to build one myself but don’t have the tools as I live in an apartment.

Beautiful hilt, I love it!
this is very well done!!!
Now that's a light saber 👍👍👍
After seeing it I want one
Is there a way to make a blade attach to the hilt?

What shop did you go to? Might be able to go there and get the same stuff
Got my stuff from Wickes, Homebase, a local hardware centre and online
@@BucketheadStudios ah k
Love it. Subscribed.
So, dumb question, but... Where can I get a grid like that for my workbench?
Just a cutting mat, mine is A2 size but you can get different sizes, easy to get too just on Amazon etc. I now have a black one which I love
nice design.
"It can all help with all these nooks and crannys" Coincident, i think not.
Art Attack? xD
Great video this. You’ve earned yourself a sub my friend.
Thank you!
@@BucketheadStudios Have you fitted a sound board or blade after this build at all?
No I haven't, due to the construction with the threaded rod I don't think it's possible. Just sits on the shelf 🙂
Great saver! Me and my dad are planning to make this, but what are the measurements of the allumium (if that’s how you spell it 😬)
1 ½ inch diameter, and got about 30cms or 1 foot of it 🙂
Buckethead Props thanks! 🙏
What consistency is the paint when applied
Just straight acrylic, maybe a bit of water to help it if it's a little thick
@@BucketheadStudios link to some good varnish?
Where did u get the prequel thing that was used to clip the saber to the belt on the lightsaber?
Not sure where I got that one, but it's a covertec clip, you can get them from saber sites such as thesaberarmory.com/collections/belt-accessories
@@BucketheadStudios thank you soo much.
Looking good!!
What are the brass pieces called also what did you use for the end/ pommel
Sorry, no idea. If you check 1:18 you can see where I pulled them from. Just assorted plumbing pieces I believe
Buckethead Props Ok thankyou
Buckethead Props I need them so I can do the same kind of thing that you did but can't find anything like them
@@harolld2487 make your own design dont copy.
Alex Hetherington I didn’t I was just asking the guy what equipment he used so I knew what to look for mine looks completely different.
So so so cool
If you make a budget saber looking this good then I dread to think how good you're expensive sabers look like ha ha ha ha
Any chance you know where some more of those brass pieces are? Thinking of making one myself
Mine were picked up locally. You can see in the pic, they were just bits and pieces going cheap. They're either plumbing or gas pieces
i liked this video enough to subscribe.
i also want to go make one!
How much for all the tools?
What is the wall size on the metal pipe ?
Just had to look back 😄 it was 16swg or 1.6mm
@@BucketheadStudios thankyou
What is that copper belt thingy and how do you clip it to a belt? Also where did you buy it?
Covertec clip for pagers. Don't know where I got that one, but places like the saber armory sell them, most lightsaber part sellers will have them
Is it just on Instagram? I ask as I don't have any other social media outlets...
Hi, yeah unfortunately entry is only on Instagram as the judges will be looking at the hashtag to see who has entered
That's fine. Thanks. Keep up the awesome work!
I absolutely love your videos!!!
A thing of beauty
Im new to your channel. Have you done any battle ready, blade, and sound diy lightsabre builds?
Not battle ready, but have installed a graflex with sound and crystal chamber, as well as building and finishing some canon sabers :)
Buckethead Props can you please send a link to these videos? I would really like to watch them!
Link to tube?
It looks like a combination of lukes and darth vaders lightsaber
If anyone has links for where to buy these stuff online please I’ve been looking everywhere

Don't really know much about him, not come across him much 🤔
Ik this was 10 monthe ago but spray it with clear coat so the paint doesnt wear off
nice job!
I want a Graflex lightsaber!
That saber is very Vader meets Kenobi
Worthy.
You should have put a magnet in the handle to attach it to your belt with your remaining budget
Did you not watch the part about the covetec clip ?
That a heavy lightsaber (joke for my american lads)
