Considering most of the sci fi do dads especially in the og star wars movies were all kitbashed this is actually incredible authentic to most of the original lightsabers
@@wizardryworkshop it needs to diffract, which the light it doesn’t do with clear. So it relies on a slightly abrasive surface to diffract the light and send it out the sides. So you could use a fine grit sandpaper on the tube before rolling it.
This is super cool, Danny! The hilt alone is a really great idea for cosplay; my brother will love this tutorial! Also, instead of using an Xacto knife to take off the sticker, if you have orange essential oil laying around you can drop a couple of drops onto the label, rub is all over and let it sit for a few minutes. Come back and wipe the label off under water and it should also remove the sticky residue! May the Fourth be with you!
This was super duper dope Danny! Not going to lie, I kind of would like to see some more star wars mixed in throughout the year. I think you could do some really cool stuff. Anyways, great video as always! Keep killing it!
Tip: get an O-light flashlight. Those things are bright as flip. Put in a diffuser also. LED strips are a waste of money and time. Over all, not bad for your first attempt.
Danny. Can you get ahold of 2 long pieces of plastic tubing...one with a smaller bore (to fit inside the handle) and one with a larger bore (to slip over the outside of the handle)? Maybe the inside tube could even be already colored. Otherwise, tack the colored film to the inside tube. As others have suggested, maybe you could frost the outside tube. This way, the light from the flashlight will go all the way up the tube.
Hello. A great tip to remove the stickness from any kind of recipient is use steam. Like boil water with a cooking put, and putting your object above. After 2 minutes is completery removed.
I like it... simple things to make a Lightsaber that I have and never thought of this until this video, Thank you again for sharing...And '' May The 4Th/Force Be With You Too""...!!!! *One way to have better light, your way with the plastics is good, but flashlight not bright enough, either led flashlight or better a laser light with the metal foil at both ends, I made a wand with Laser and crystals and wow... Mesmerizing....! I just had a thought try a UV flashlight too, might work, I did not try a UV one yet... *With the green Lightsaber, and all that you have shared with us over the years, Well as Yoda would say '' Pass on what you have learned young Padawan'..!!
polycarbonate tubing, it can be a little expensive, but will make a way better blade and as long you fix it well enough, you can wack it into almost anything without breaking it
Funny, I made a light saver this week using this method sorta without watching a video just soley using my creativity, I used these 4ish inch clear tubes I had from disposable vapes, and I then taped tracing paper around the tubes and colored them, the only issue I had is I had to use 5 tubes and u can kinda see that, it was also sorta difficult to attach the first one to the flash light
If you want it to look more like the ones in the movies you should do the blade as wideasthe light in the flashlightthat is in the video, the blade gotta be a bit thicker, but it looks really cool, keep up the good work bud
Very cool! Perhaps some glow in the dark paint for the mid to upper area inside the plastic tubing? are all lightsabers unique to their owners as far as design? MTFBWYA
I don't think it's any more or less effective. I just use it because i keep alcohol stocked at my house and there's no reason to also get goo gone if alcohol can do it too.
Hey you said “no wand necessary:P I think the flash light ist just a bad one, maybe you could use a cheap Cree led flash light. Maybe filling the whole blade with epoxy resin would help for lighting it up?
I have a large Star Wars collection, including a Light Sabre replica that lights up and makes sounds, and an original Millenium Falcon in its box, it's massive so stays in the box. I'd love a Lego Death Star though, especially after seeing it in Spiderman !!
@nelsonrondon3188 yeswlbelieve it or not, the fumes from rubbing alcohol are toxic and can cause headache, nausia, and light headedness. My recording space is small and windowless.
Put a light diffusor inside rolled up the same way, tracing paper should work fine. That should make it glow much more
Packing foam
And a stronger flashlight
I was thinking a lightly twisted bit of plastic wrap down the inside of the tube.
Considering most of the sci fi do dads especially in the og star wars movies were all kitbashed this is actually incredible authentic to most of the original lightsabers
You can also lightly sand the blade to frost it to help give it more of a glow.
but what if you hate sand?
Mark my words, I’m saving this for when I’m older to make.
Spray the inside of the tube before you roll it with hairspray for a frosted look. Should reflect the light more.
Oooo I'll try that.

I wonder if you used an LED light, if it would reflect more. Either way, you got my creative juices flowing. LOVE IT! Thanks, Danny!

Also you might have luck getting the sticker off using a blow dryer on it to heat up the sticky adhesive
@@anroley yes! That’s also a good truck, too!
DIY lightsaber in 10 minutes but with an 18 minute video x3

All real jedi make their own lightsabers.....
also a good source of getting stickers off is a heat gun or blow dryer. and leaves no residue
The bottles are plastic.

Use a hair dryer to remove the stickers from any of your parts leaves no sticky residue
Use plumbers tape around threads and it makes it snug as a bug.
try taking a needle and puncturing alot of random holes to allow the light to reflect from.
The handle is very good improvised and cheap. The blade not so much, it's the same cost to buy a Pvc frosted tube and strip of back adhesive leds
May the 4th be with you
Blade-polycarbonate tube preferably, 3 watt+led, you can use flash light as power source, . The rest looks good.
This looks simple and affordable. I pinned this on my pinterest and added your link.
Thank you!
Me, who is a broke teenager and knows nothing about this stuff, omw to attempt to make two of these for my ahsoka cosplay
Looks awesome but you should use a white blade and cut out a small bit of colored sheet to put over the flashlight
You should use a transparent acrylic plastic tube and sand it to diffuse it then put coloured cellophane inside it

When you realize making a diy lightsaber is also how you make a lightsaber in starwars
This is so great!! Can’t wait to make my own now!! 😍
Put a reflective rod inside the saber it will help

I'm wondering if that protective film you peeled off would work as a light diffuser by just leaving it on the plastic sheet.
Can I get a full detail list of the materials? I dont quite know what all the things you're using.
Olive oil works great at getting the sticky residue off as well.
it would be cool if you added a hook for the belt
That's sick.
This is so cool. I'll have to try this for my kids!

Lighter fluid takes off the sticky without damaging plastic
This is pretty cool! Thank you!
I like your STAR WARS shirt
Cellophane is a great way to diffuse the light just loosely roll it and it should get more light across the blade
To Peel of the sticker you can use heat. It can be hairdryer or lighter. But hairdryer will be safe way.
How long have you had the piece of pipe from the big K, haven't seen them in years.
this is so cool

thank you I need this video
awesome what if you used glow in the dark paint ?🤔
omggg that would be sooo sick!!! 🤯🤯

Plastics scrapper with alcohol will not scratch it at all.
Love it!!
Using Vaseline to remove the sticky residue also works well

1) I worry that paint would completely block the light.
2) yes, every Jefi creates their own unique Saber as part of their Jedi training.

Where u get your parts
I'd use heat shrinking plastic, on the visible parts
The best way to get the sticker office to use WD-40 and let it saturate, and then it just slides off easily!
Can u please comment the name of the parts you used
Love it
Check plastic tubing at craft stores
Looking good. Good luck though, when you need to change batteries 😅
The top unscrews.
Nice
How do you change the battery in the flashlight
Unscrew the top.

olive oil from your kitchen will remove the glue from stickers. :)
But then it's all oily...
Is it durable
The blade? Not at all.
