    Must admit I heard the soundtrack before I ever saw the movie. Then I saw the movie.
    Brilliant, funny, touching, and Holly Hunter doesn't get half enough credit. Watch her face and facial expressions in this clip. Utterly brilliant!

    Best Movie back in Y2K!!!,
    I just watched this flic for the second time tonight.
    What a fantastic adventue film...I was amazed at just how this movie made me feel as if i were transported back in time to the Deep Southern State's of America back during the 1920/30's.
    A Real thigh slapping, Gut Buster of a film.
    One of my all time favorite Movie's

    I was 8 when the movie and now just last week I finally got a chance to see the movie. Swear to God that I thought George Clooney was really singing....perfect lip syncing I didn't even noticed lol

      likely because Clooney praticed hard to sing the song prior to the movie but he could't do it quite good enough, but the *lipsyncing* is good because he IS actually singing.

      Clooney did sing it. But his voice was overdubbed later. So the real singer, Dan Tyminski, had to do the hard work of matching Clooney's moves. Somehow this turned a bland folk song with a nice hook into a firestarter.

    The reason I first watched this movie is because George Clooney is my favorite actor. But it is genuinely the best film I've seen. I love every second of it; all the cast and crew did an amazing job.
    I totally fell in love with this song, and I dont know why 'cause I'm not a great country lover. But the performance is so funny. Everyones dancing, especially Everett's is hilarious.
    + 4.12 is possibly the best part of the movie O_O

    give credit to the director and wardrobe department. this scene looks so authentic. they have got the clothes and props down to a science. the old couple listening to the radio was like going back in time. i am buying several copies of this dvd for stocking stuffers this year,.

    Charles Durning was a brilliant actor, even larger than life and he was a terrific hoofer too. He often danced in his movies. Watching a man that big dance as if he were weightless is pure joy. Who says white men can't dance?

    I feel like southern USA has been portrayed in the wrong light in popular culture. Blue grass and country music has grown on me in a way I can’t describe but it speaks to my soul. I’ve been getting into a lot of American folk music and let me say I love it.

    I still get goosebumps watching this. Remember we were doing a review on this movie back at school and we repeated this part like four times because it was sooo good! . One of the best movies ever.

    I can't believe I ignored this movie when it came out. I thought if my parents loved it (they are in their 60s) that I wouldn't like it, but I saw it on tv Saturday & have been singing this song for 2 straight days! lololol
