Yes it is so very good, funny, witty and spot on satire. The use of the Homeric epic and other references is incredibly clever. Suppose it is "postmodern" art at its best. I believe I saw it a thousand times and found new astonishing things in it every time!
kinda ridiculous but well done, then the song begins and I am entranced! Not to mention the singer from the crossroads who sold his soul to the devil. As they say, the devil has all the great music.
My mom sang it to my sibs and me when we were little. I sang it to my kids and grandkids. When my mom was on her death bed I sang it to her. I believe that was the last thing she heard before she died.
It’s a modernized version of Homer’s Odyssey and I too love it. It’s got everything that’s in the ancient classic tale: the cyclops ( John Goodman’s one-eyed character), the sirens ( the seductive young women in the river) and more. A brilliant adaptation 👍🏾
I didn’t know anything about this movie until the soundtrack won a Grammy. I watched it on cable and was so impressed I bought the DVD that came with the soundtrack CD. I watched it several times and every time it’s on TV I watch again.
We watched this movie in ninth grade after reading the odessey, the parallels are numerious and great. Both are epic tales worth every moment of your time.
I met the Coen Brothers the year after this came out at a lowkey NYC restaurant/grocery and they were eating with us. I was 11. This is still my favorite movie
My mom and dad sang big rock candy mountain to us when we were little girls! My sisters and I used to sing the syren song a few years ago before my oldest sister died. I love old songs!! New ones, too! 💋💖😆😆🎉💃🌵👵🐺🖖🌵😻
I just loved this movie when it came out. Besides the delightful performances, wonderful story and just general beautiful movie making, this sound track stands out as one of the best. This movie is just another example of the Coen Bros. Far ranging subject matter and passion. Though I love this and all their movies, I think Miller’s Crossing is an unsung masterpiece and so I have to always mentioned it when Coen Bros. Come up.
Tommy was a nod to Robert Johnson and his infamous crossroads deal with the devil. The ladies washing clothes and John Goodman were characters from Homer's Odyssey. The man Tommy describes as the devil he made a deal with is another nod to Robert Johnson's infamous deal when they showed the law man with the hounds and the men digging the graves was the devil collecting on his deal with Tommy after he got famous. The symbolism in this movie is of epic proportions.
Coen movies are magical, so tired of the current Hollywood IP mining garbage. You will never see a Big Lebowski II, or follow up to No Country for Old Men 'metaverse'. I wish they made more.
There was a big lebowski spinoff about Jesus, Fargo was turned in to a tv series and this was a reimagining of homers odyssey. The Coens are not immune and it’s not inherently bad either, although I heard the Jesus movie was bad. The franchise movies pay for all the low budget experiments, and keep the crews and actors with food on the table. No one forces you to watch anything, there are 1000s of Bollywood movies each year and I ignore them all, I can’t name even one
The movie itself was not one of my favorite films, but I didn't enjoy it however.I loved the album.I love this music.I used to play this album constantly

I got two or three times more out of every movie in my life once I tried to tho k. What is this movie saying? Not always a poignant message. But you have to ask it to hear the ones that are. Art is how we tell eachother a feeling for which there is no word. Beautiful movies like this army just a series of events. The authors said something and they said it to you. They told you a feeling they had that has no name. The question is did we hear them?

This was one of the best movies, with the best music, ever ever made.
I agree. Everything in this film hit just right. The cast, soundtrack, direction, locations, cinematography were all brilliant.

"Inside Llewyn Davis" gives it a good run for it's money. The Coen brothers are a national treasure.
My grandma used to sing you are my sunshine when I was little and it brings a tear to my eye every time I hear it

Somehow 2 Jewish brothers made the best Christian movie to ever exist

Still based on the Greek mythology

A beautiful film about the author and the story, escaping one's destiny, and the power art has to move the masses

Great video for this great film! When I think of this movie, the music is near the top of the list why I love it!

A real movie with real legends, some have passed away but never forgotten

The lyrics of You Are My Sunshine are sinister and depressing, but I still like the song.
Um, did you forget about Ralph Stanley's "O, Death"?
Siren song.. leaves old Delmar in way over his head.. lol

You missed one. Chris thomas king’s hard time killing floor blues. It was sung at the campfire.
This is a film by the Cohen Brothers. They are geniuses in their own right. They make films that last! See “ Fargo” and “ No Country for Old Men “ !

Worked at universal studios had all singers in concert tried toget tickets for the show was sold out would gave been awesome have cd
Good video and GREAT movie....though missing Ralph Stanley's solo rendition of "O Death" is a criminal omission.

great job! However, why did you leave out "O Death" by Ralph Stanley?
I'm curious. Why did you title this " every song"?
It's every song in the movie.
