- This is the best recreation I can make to match Chipotle's recipe. This is so close, you won't be able to taste the difference! I have made a simple step by step process per request of many viewers! I hope you all enjoy it. This is my favorite rice!
Ingredients:
White Long Grain Rice: 2 Cups
Water: 3 Cups
Bay Leaf: One
Minced Cilantro: 1/2 Cup
Kosher Salt: 1/2 Teaspoon
Lime Juice: 1/2 Teaspoon
Lemon Juice 1/2 Teaspoon
Rice bran oil: 2 Tablespoons
Ok, so I'm a psycho and decided to go to Chipotle and get a bowl with their rice while I made the recipe in this video to see how close it came. I can tell you 100% the recipe in this video is spot on EXACTLY like Chipotle. Same taste, consistency, everything..
Hell yeah hahaha
The hero we don't deserve bit the hero we needed
@@devinpink6397 fr i love chipotle cause it has all the macros i need after a workout but it gets expensive. im definitely gon meal prep with this recipe
I agree……………
You are a psycho 😅
@@acidd69 doesn't help that 70% of their different offerings are compromised of 32 cents worth of beans and rice. place is a ripoff
This is the literal recipe. I worked there too. The only thing we did different was adding the oil into it before cooking the rice
Makes more sense
if u add it after it wont absorb as much and have a richer flavor. It also will allow the other flavorings like the cilantro, pepper, lemon juice etc a medium to be absorbed into and distributed around all the rice surface.
We add it before and after
I feel like adding the lemon and lime would make the rice spoil faster
@@princealbertz If anything it'd make it last longer cuz of the acid
Former Chipotle employee. I can validate this was the exact recipe we used in the kitchen when I worked there.
Former chipotle employee, this is the correct recipe. The only thing we did differently was cook the oil with the rice and used citrus lemon juice only
This IS the closest recipe. I was a grill and and made this exactly 💯 like this. Great job!!!!
Thanks boss!
This is excellent. Now if I can just get a video on how to make their corn salsa mixture, that’d be absolutely amazing. It would make my week, no joke.
the corn is delivered (basically frozen but it thaws) with the poblano peppers already mixed in. the employees add red onion, finely chopped fresh cilantro, morton's kosher salt, and minute maid lime juice (not the sweet kind) but any lime juice works just add everything to taste cause in store its mixed in a giant bowl lol
@@annabasilica1237 I love you
Chipotle can officially kiss my ass thanks for the video 😂🎉
For realz. Lol
I’ve been making your recipes and I have to say they are so good ,I’ve made the barbacoa, rice and chicken .They taste just like chipotle.
Hell yeah! I’m happy you were able to get it down!! That’s awesome
@@CookingwithChris1 And, sincerely, I do appreciate that Chris. They just don't understand how hard trying to pay for $ 9.00 burritos are, when you have a family and everyone wants a different thing. It gets very, very expensive. Start a PATREON, and I'd like to contribute.
Made this twice already with brown rice . LOVE ITTTTTT
Is it the same water to rice ratio as the white rice?
I work at Chipotle
8 cups rice
8 cups water
1 cup oil
2 Tbsp salt
1/2 cup lemon lime juice
2 cups cilantro
I guess this would be a party size lol
It probably serves 20?
@@ryangoebel16 yeah…. That’s a lot 😂
So the bay leaf is not used then?
2 bay leaves as well
I just did it and it’s perfect!!! I’ve been wanting the rice but didn’t want to pay extra at chipotle and I bought a rice cooker for 10 bucks on sale at Amazon and it’s just PERFECT! I did it exactly how u did it I did add a little more pinch of salt and little bit of more lemon and lime and it’s perfect I just defrosted chicken to make something for dinner. Thank u so much for this.😊
If you cannot find rice bran oil, 1 tbsp of stir fry oil and 2 tbsp of olive oil also makes a very tasty rice with this recipe! Not the same, but it adds a nice savory/garlicy flavor.
Great tip!
WTF is "stir fry oil"?
What about canola oil
Chris ... Sincerely, we do appreciate recipes like this, Chris. Chipotle Bosses (they) just don't understand how hard trying to pay for $ 9.00 burritos are, when you have a family and everyone wants a different thing. It gets very, very expensive. Start a PATREON, and I'd like to contribute.
I have a family of 5 I recently had it delivered to me. They charge more for delivery and made me tip the driver. My baby didn't have any so 4 ate. 2 steak Bowels both with queso a chicken bowel and a build your own kids meal costed me 65 dollars. I'm so getting the recipes and making it myself.
I just finished the queso video! It is in my shorts.
I don't mind paying the prices but don't charge more and give less at the same time. If your going to charge more than give more.
I’ve had Chipotle twice ever because the price-to-food ratio is absurd. I’ll stick with Taco Bell.
@@frankmartinez2987yea healthy fresh ingredients cost more 🙄
I tried this video and its spot on. I could not find the rice bran oil so i left that out and it still tasted very close. Great video
I know this is an old comment but just wanted to say you can add any kind of oil really
@@rosenia5409 thanks!
Where the f did they get rice bran oil? Ancient aliens I'm betting
There's probably a fully buried temple in Mexico where ancient aliens manufactured rice bran oil 46,000 years ago.
@@hansgrueber8169 Amazon and Walmart (online) have it.
Chris I just want u to know u are perfect and a lifesaver, never spending 10$ for a burrito ever again
Awesome!!
Chipotle is a rip off. Less than half the price to make it at home... and with more meat...not with 75% consisting of 30 cents worth of rice and beans
It's hard to believe that they exist in California. @@toddinthemiddle
Lol so you'll spend more
@@toddinthemiddlelol wrong
Tastes EXACTLY like Chipotle's rice. I hate when people claim this and it tastes "similar" but not exactly. I can confidently say this is EXACTLY like it. Thank you for this!!
npc ahh coment
Fantastic short Chris. Will definitely be attempting this and playing with the amounts of ingredients to see what I like best.
I just buy Zatarain’s Cilantro lime rice from the store….it’s pretty close to chipotle. Good too!
I’m late to the party but this turned out delicious, and it’s so easy! Thank you 😊
So I used the rice in a bag and worked great!! I used two bags put the bay leaf in the water not sure if it worked and just winged the measuring of the rice oil kosher salt cilantro lime and lemon juice and it was sooooo good
Ever since moving to Newfoundland from the states, I’ve been craving chipotle for years now. I’m going to give this, and the chicken recipe a try. Thank you for sharing the recipe.
Hope you enjoy
As a hispanic, we cook the salt and oil in wirh the water put in the rice to cook it. Better absorbs it 😊
Made it. Turned out fantastic. Thanks for posting.
Great to hear!
Bro single handedly bringing chipotle down!! lol. Dude I tried your chicken recipe and my kids ate it up. I appreciate it 😮
So happy to learn about the rice bran oil. That’s what really makes it. I always ask for the kind without the lime juice. Thank you for this.
This past weekend I was at chipotle and they ran out of cilantro lime rice. And the nosey girl I’m , I saw the cook behind make this. This is exactly how he did it. They were pretty generous with the lime juice juice sale and cilantro.
Probably because they were making a much bigger batch plus if they were out they were on some hurry up and get more up to the front to service these customers
so no only are you nosey but a liar. They dont use lime juice. It's a special juice made for them that has three different fruit chemical imitation copy cat combos in there.
Never had chipotle (don’t have that here), but was interested to try this. And omg I’m never eating rice a different way than this again. It’s amazing!
Thank you for making your videos simple and to the point! I stop watching videos immediately if they don’t get through their intro (lecture really) in the first 30 seconds to a minute.
That’s my style! I make them how I like to watch them.
I've never had Chipotle so have no frame of reference for how it's "supposed" to taste, however I made this today to serve alongside mini pork meatballs in an Asian sweet chilli-style sauce. The acidity of the rice nicely offset the sweetness of the pork and chili sauce.
Excellent made it tonight came out 🤌 5 stars! Used olive oil.
Love it
I've been using jasmine rice to try and make this and the flavor is always NOTHING like chipotle. Im going to try this recipe and hope for the best. I was never on grill when I worked there, but the rice bran oil DEFINITELY sounds familiar and I hope that was the secret I was missing this whole time after so many failed attempts!!
Let me know how it goes!
Was it good?
fun fact, it's not.
The issue was using Jasmine rice! Jasmine rice is very aromatic, and if you know that our sense of smell, or lacktherof, can definitely have an impact on our ability to taste...then you have an idea.
Use long grain rice. Basic long grain rice.
At my Chipotle, we put the oil in the water with the rice when it cooks
I tried it and it’s so good
Made this and I got 1/3rd of the rice I expected. Super realistic 10/10.
Been waiting for this one!
It’s so simple that it seems wrong, but try it out! You’ll be like holy cow this is it
Sir you are doing God’s work😂
Blashemy.
Yep. Exact recipe. Brown rice is the same recipe, except half the salt.
One thing: also add oil into the rice cooker before adding rice.
1st oil and 2nd oil are both important.
Never clicked on a video so fast
Just tried this and it turned out great! Thanks a lot for posting this video!
Def gonna try your Chipotle chicken recipe in the near future. 👍
Hell yeah! I’m glad it came out perfect! Yes try it with the chicken and make a salsa! It’s so delicious
I tried the chicken recipe. Came out super bomb!
Damn you should make a video of you building a chipotle burrito
Haha I could!
Oh, yeaaaaah...! Thank you!
God I love rice so much my mouth is watering watching this
A relaxing type of voice
didn't know it was so easy. i'm making this now
Nice and clumpy!
simple and accurate. thank you my friend
Where do you get rice bran oil?
Blessed
That's pretty different from how I learned to make rice. I don't got a ricer cooker, I am the ricer cooker. I'll give this a shot though. Never heard of rice bran oil. Hope it comes out yummy
Now we need that queso blanco recipe.

Thanks!!! Super easy and straight forward

Olive oil works great if you don't have rice bran oil
Great tip!
I had an old comment that got deleted about chipotle having dark "cooked" looking colantro in theirs and someonenreplied
m0ri
I know you commented this a long time ago, but when it looks like that its just been sitting out! The cilantro darkens and gets limpier after being exposed to the heat in the wells. After about 30min out it will start to do this, so its not super old but greens are super sensitive to temp! It definitely mellows the flavor and after working there and having it fresh out the bowl, I actually cant eat it when its wilted. I like the fresh zest more 😂 you can achieve the same thing by putting in the cilantro in the rice cooker and leaving it for a while

I love these videos. Almost to my chipotle bowl.😂
Don't be shy and drop the corn recipe video!
I have one out already! It’s in the chipotle chicken bowl vid 😎👍🏻
@@CookingwithChris1 Please, make it into a separate video and cut it out, or slice it where people can find it easier. Because, damn, I didn't even know you had it too.
Thank you again! Yummy, yummy, yummy, I got love in my tummy.
This makes me so sad that I have the "cilantro is soap" thing, this looks so good.
Every so often I taste soap when I eat cilantro. It's so weird lol
It can be hard to find fresh, but try "culantro". It's a herb whose taste is said to be similar to cilantro (but stronger), and it doesn't trigger the "cilantro is soap" response. Look for it in Latin American markets.
Otherwise, just substitute parsley for cilantro in any recipe. The flavor is different, but it's a similar enough herb that you can swap them in most recipes, especially if the herb is just a garnish. I rarely buy both cilantro and parsley at the same time, I just buy whatever is most appropriate for what I plan to cook and I'll use one to substitute for the other as needed.
Thank you. Is there any way you could do more of these videos where you play these different types of volatility slots ?
It's awesome! Thanks!
Might aswell use rice that’s not enriched , fresh lime and lemon juice and avocado oil if making it at home guaranteed to be better
As someone who never ate at Chipotle in his entite life, I can confirm this tastes exactly like Chipotle.
Perfect
Can’t wait to try this
Thank you, Saint Chris. You are doing the Lord's Work, and all of us here in YT-Land are appreciative. [SUBBED, my friend.]
Could I use olive oil instead of rice bran?? Thank you Chris
Yes of course!

Ben’s Original long grain white rice is a good alternative for someone who hates cooking.
substitute the bottle lemon juice with actual lemon juice and it's perfect
Thanks Chris!
Looks bomb man, thanks for sharing
Love the content Chris, real awesome stuff my dude. I don't really know much about cooking so pardon me if this is a dumb question but I was wondering would this same recipe work with brown rice? Like taste wise.
Exact same!!! You’ll prob need a little more water, but as long as you have a rice cooker it comes out perfect. I have another vid with that recipe too
Any tbh
Love it, seems very simple. How necessary is the rice bran oil? Everything else I have at home already
It’s not necessary! Give it a try
What’s a good replacement for rice bran oil? My grocery store doesn’t have it.
@@ammoreno7 I just used sesame
@@ammoreno7 but you can use canola/ vegetable oil instead
@@annabor1000both of those oils are bad for you. Olive oil or coconut oil is better, even sesame or avocado.
Thank you 💚
Will be trying this - minus the cilantro. As a person who cannot tolerate cilantro, I wish Chipotle made their menu items in a way that can be ordered without it. The rice can, but the people working always seem annoyed when I ask for plain rice.
ex employee here. recipe is spot on when we make the rice
Late comment here, but former employee of chipotle here and we never added the salt or lemon juice. We had gallons of fresh lime juice. And this was never used on the chips. The chips only got juice from fresh cut limes.
same for the brown rice ?? im so excited to make this !!!!!!!!!!!! rice and beans.
People really be casually handing out trade secrets like Halloween candy.
And I'm all for it. Fuck em.
Can you make a brown rice version please sir! Or if even possible the cauliflower rice?
I have a video out for the brown rice!
It's soooo good ty :)
Use basmati Rice makes a big difference
I assume it’d be the same for brown rice ?
Yes!!
So good!! Going to make this tomorrow night. Can you make the fajita veggies please? I love the veggies and it’d amazing to have a recipe on it?
Just equal parts bell peppers and red onions, use salt and oregano for seasoning. It’s that simple

what’s the purpose of using rice bran oil specifically and letting it sit?
I work at chipotle and I’m shocked bro lol this is literally it
