I worked at chipotle for like 3 months and didn’t hate it, I was actually kind of impressed by the food quality for like a chain/fast food place. I’m sure it varies a lot by location but the one I worked at was pretty good.
Chipotle is the only food industry place I've worked at that actually did things by the book when it came to safe food prep and keeping it sanitary overall. I was the grill cook for 9$/hr and I loved it. Just wasn't enough money so I quit for a job that offered me more hours and pay.
@@Justin_Waters literally 0 people think taco bell is "elite Mexican food". It's just fast food that tastes good for what it is. Idk what kind of people you're hanging around who think taco bell is even actual Mexican food, let alone a good example of it.
As someone who worked as a cook at chipotle a few years ago. The beans are come prepared in a bag. All we really do is heat up the bag and the season to taste. Same for the barbacoa, carnitas and sofritas. With all that being said, chipotle tastes amazing lol, especially if you find a store that gives large portion sizes!
The thing with chipotle is because it’s a chain they outsource different companies to pre make a lot of their stuff to ship out to all of their stores but the thing is finding the right company that is going to do your recipes justice and chipotle has probably the best outsourced company to date

About the beans: As someone who works at Chipotle, yeah our quality control is not that good bc sometimes/most times the grill person doesn’t care about following the right measurements. So they probably added too much citrus juice to that batch. Also it really depends on if you get a fresh batch of food. Freshly made food changes everything

Dude I was a grill cook for Chipotle. You shouldn't be adding citris juice to the beans. What in tarnation is your grill cook doing????? And it's beans. That's like the simplest thing a grill cook can make at Chipotle. 🤨 judging your grill cook hard rn
A few things that I'd recommend (that I don't see many people doing while cooking beans): You can soak them in water + a little bit of vinegar for like 15 minutes, changing the water and washing it (just like what you do with the rice) in this time. It makes the cooking go quicker and it removes the natural toxins on the beans, that makes your belly sad. Also... PRESSURE COOKER FTW. 10-15 mins cooking in a pressure cooker might be just enough. Thank me later. Signed: A Brazilian with a problematic belly and not a lot of time to cook.
That would be nice. Though the channel Brian Lagerstrom has a series called Weeknighting where he makes some pretty good stuff that would be reasonable to make on a week night. His Chicken Tortilla Soup and Cod and Oyster chowder are two of my favorites so far. Both of those make enough for dinner and lunch for a few days.

👀 what's in it? It sounds a bit like a casserole we have down in Texas (not the chipotle one) Great minds think alike! And they think about delicious toppings on the tasty tasty carb of your choice.
I’m a manager at Chipotle and have worked at 3 different stores. We do have a lot of options: bowl, burrito, soft tacos, crispy tacos, salad, and quesadilla. Kind of like Taco Bell where it’s all the same ingredients just packaged a little differently lol. I do hate that it’s officially called a “burrito bowl” and not just “bowl”. The pinto beans were probably too sour because the grill cook didn’t measure the citrus juice (a blend of lemon and lime juice) they put into the beans. Before the pandemic, the cooks we’re supposed to taste everything before serving it to the guests. Now with strict mask rules, we can’t just pull down a mask and sample something without having to wash our hands 3 times. It’s faster to 1) not measure, just glug the citrus juice in by eyeball measuring it. 2) to not take the time to taste it and just serve it right away. It would be strange to see a cook in the back with their mask down eating food. I do my best to make sure my cooks are measuring everything. We want a guest’s experience to be consistent and great each time. I’m so sorry they forgot your guac! 🙈 Thank you so much Josh for this video, I loved it!
Just let you know if someone that’s worked at chipotle before. Every single item at chipotle is fresh except the mat medium sauce and the hot sauce. Those are the only two items come pre-packaged premade everything else on the menu is made fresh daily.
When did you work there? I know that was true years ago but I thought they switched to preprocessing a bunch of stuff after the Ecoli issue. There was a really noticeable drop in quality, and I've literally seen the bags that the pre cooked beans come in.

But if you add water to it you need to reduce the water to at least half once the water reduced to half thats when you add the salt and citrus juice.
Also the correct way to cook the beans even if your chipotle is busy is on low to medium heat. The longer the beans cook in the juice and seasoning the better it tastes. If your finding it hard to cook the bean on low to medium heat you can drop 3 bags of beans. Just split them a bag and a half each into two stockpots. That way if you cook them on low-medium heat the beans are still full because you have a bag and half which should fill the deep all the way to the hot holding line. But yes, making your own at home will ALWAYS be better for you.
I came across this video yesterday trying to find a well balanced meal to cook for my Husband and I. Figuring out what to make for dinner for the rest of my life is probably my hardest task. I could eat the same thing everyday all week, which I did most of my adult life before I was cooking for 2. 🤣 Anyways, this was my first time making homemade pinto beans. I omitted the chorizo and bacon because we don’t eat Pork, but otherwise the beans were some of the best I’ve ever bought (and certainly better than any canned beans I’ve heated in the past, haha). I plan on making the Barbacoa soon, but overall our burrito bowls came out delicious with Chipotle marinated chicken. The rice was a pretty perfect lime zested cilantro rice, too.
Chipotle in Korea is called Cuchara. So much better, ingredients tasted way better than at home for some reason. I just ordered a burrito bowl and I’m waiting for mine
I've been making rice since maybe before your parents knew each other. As a teenager, I used Minute Rice. In my twenties, Leeann Chin taught me how to make rice not using Minute Rice. On the Stove. In a pot. No separate appliance needed. Never made a bad batch. Wash rice 5 times, add water, season as desired, bring to a boil, simmer for 15 minutes, remove from heat, let sit covered for 10 minutes. Perfect rice every time. Rice cookers have there place. On the store shelf.
I use to work at chipotle. The beans, carnitas, barbacoa, and the tofu one are all precooked and sent to them in bags that they heat up in a huge souvee like thing. Whenever one of them gets to dry most of the time they just say to add water when the customers aren’t looking so it last longer and they don’t have to throw it away
I’ve made the rice a few times and had always done the same with adding the lime zest, juice and cilantro after, but then I saw a deal that suggested adding the lime juice and zest in with the water you use for the rice, and that’s the only way I will do it now.
If you think that’s the most overpriced fast food out there you clearly haven’t been to a McDonald’s recently LOL you’ll pay more for a shitty burger fries and a drink
I absolutely LOVE how he said that the rice cooking method of “one cup of water for one cup of rice” won’t work anyone else other than a rice cooker. Let me tell you something buddy, hang with some Dominicans and you’ll know. We strictly use Calderons to cook rice and at least in my household, we do 1:1 ratio with the water and get the most perfect rice. Thus your statement is FALSE. 😌
The sad thing is many people don't know how to cook rice in a pot/stove top without burning the hell out of it. In my home, we just eyeball the water amount depending on the recipe and type of rice we want to cook. I'm African descent by the way so rice cookers aren't really a thing for us; we learn't by trial and error and of course from experience from our grandmothers. Lol. I'm sure it's the same or similar in your country too!

I love chipotle so much but this takes it to another level!!😍
I agree!
I disagree. He didnt even order it with chipotle vinaigrette!
Chipotle is overrated. Inferior to average taqueria. Its decent. But it’s really only better for vegetarians and vegans because it has good options for them.
@@TheKos2Kos If he was able to duplicate their vinaigrette or if Chipotle were to bottle it like Chick-fil-A did their sauce then I would make my own at home each and every time
This man is a food genius. Inspiring and innovative. My food game is on a next-level with Joshua and Dude as my food mentors.
I just love the way he says “on-yOn”
Very well done. Speaking as a recently ex-Chipotle employee, do not eat until 11-1:30 if you want the most fresh food… trust me. Don’t ask why, just trust
Why?
@@bigtymetimmyjim5031 food from the day before is served because the freshest food take time to make
@@rivitril5440 no, all food is tossed, you have to cook to order. You get docked on your paycheck if you do it frequently. This comment means literally nothing.

There's no Chipotle in my country but I was forced to eat it in one travel to the US. I was very impressed because it had a good flavor and it was decently fresh. My family and I had Chipotle everytime we saw one at lunch time.
You ever see a video of someone cooking a food you don't like but it looks so delicious your mouth starts watering? That's how I feel about your videos
josh and his team put so much effort into these videos. BIG UPS TO THE JOSH TEAM we love you all
I just made my own chipotle bowl recipe last week! I love using a Can of Chipotle chilis in Adobo, with some cumin, garlic and onions, blended and then marinate for a day. However I wish I had these tips, For next time tho
I do the same thing. It is so good
Dude, that "Not from a can" 2:19 singing was hilarious.
Ever since watching Keith’s on Eat the Menu Chipotle I now always get a kids meal taco when I can. Decent hard shells and a few options of ingredients. Solid choice
Will you cook for me? You should open up a restaurant. The quality of your dishes is outstanding. Every ingredient looks so organically healthy and delicious. Two thumbs up.
I’m John from Nashville, TN - dude, thank you so much for this video. On a recent second date, I made this for my new person & on our third date this weekend he asked “when was I cooking for him again” HA-HA… You made me a great chef & he thinks I can cook. But this dish goes great with couple movies, wine & a cute guy on a date. Thanks buddy- I got watch another video & cook again LOL
This looks great! If you're taking requests, A "But Cheaper" for the lox and cream-cheese bagel sandwich would be really cool to see. Get to explore how to cure the salmon, while also learning how to make bagels well. That and what to look for in ingredients like capers and such.
It's getting scary that I'll have a food and the very next day josh will make exactly what I had but better, it happens every time and idk if it's a coincidence anymore LMAO
I get so happy when I see Josh upload. :) But this one I can’t wait for in particular! My fiancé LOVES Chipotle, but we don’t eat out much. I already make him similar burrito bowls, and this should totally help me up my game!
Don't have that restaurant here, but technically if its not a wrap in a tortilla then it is not a burrito 🤔
Who else thought that the sour cream was an egg?
As much as I can appreciate this, it is sure not fast food any more, and not even close. This would take all afternoon to make.
I finally learned how to do my own lime-cilantro rice. However, I prefer to use brown rice, and I like black beans. Still, it looks tasty.
You should do Wetzel's Pretzels or Auntie Anne's Cinnomon Nuggets/sticks for the next But Better episode.
Just ordered your cookbook! Can’t wait to make more of your masterpieces👍🏼😁
Chipotle needs to hire this guy
2:38 hits different when you actually spend a lot of time in a tent in the Mojave desert
Hi Josh, I am sending this comment to let you know that I really enjoy your shows the cooking the preparation time and the recipes are a lot bigger than most fast food restaurants in I like making homemade milk so thank you so much for the awesomeness keep on cooking my friend
This is episode 66, this means three more episodes until “Nice” number.
Edit: Wow, how did the likes explode?!
I hope to see some jedi heads roll in this episode
petition for everyone to just reply "nice" in episode 69
until 8:08 where he did the plating, ive been thinking the sourcream and hotsauce was an egg.
I use that same liquid/rice ratio in an instantpot and it's beautiful, especially using chickin broth instead of water.
Whatever girl (or guy) ends up with this dude is going to be absolutely blessed with food their entire life
Lol I didn’t even realize that this was posted on my birthday 🎂 . Thanks for the great birthday gift Joshua.
Burrito bowls is one of our favorite dinners. It’s really useful when you don’t have a ton of meat to feed a lot of people because of the rice and beans. And you don’t have to get supper chef-y like Josh to make it as good or better than Chipotle.
10:19 when your employment passes before your eyes
In Colombia with have a similar dishes call Bandeja Paisa
The ingredients are:
Ground Meat
Fried Egg
Red Beans
Rice
Chorizó antioqueño
Plátano maduro
Chicharrón
Aguacate
Arepa
Looks so good. I would love you to make the chipotle sofritas bowl. I would love to learn to make that at home. Thank you for sharing your wonderful talents. I love your channel.
Anyone else thought the sour creme was a poached egg at the start, yes josh it does look nice
That looks amazingly delicious having said that all this video did was make me appreciate my Chipotle burrito bowl knowing how much effort goes into it (less than this video but still a lot) and how it tastes pretty damn good
I think Josh ordered online. I always stand in line and make sure I get my damn guac. Also, the lack of corn salsa forces me to take points off and give this video a 9.8675309 / 10
corn salsa and guac are the best items on the menu
I finally found a cook on here just like me! I now have food allergies so it's extra hard but this is how I still eat things. I learn to make them myself and they are better. ❤
i found allergy safe (for me) things ot order at chipotle but they kept getting my order wrong and dumping dairy in it. so i started making from scratch! i'm also allergic to garlic but i put like 1 clove in the chicken i usually make.
I know this guy must be making outstanding money on this RUclips channel. He is really killing it.
Watching this video and how much effort it takes to make this makes me just want to go to Chipotle
😂😂😂 Yes and I'm glad to see that I wasn't the only one who feels this way...sheesh
I hope the new series is taking normal meals you make at home and taking it to the next level. Like spaghetti and meatballs or grilled chicken
I'm hoping for him teaching us how to do stuff like his ridiculously involved hamburger he did with First We Feast. Where you make something that has all the elements of a dish, but is changed, in an elevated way, into something that you wouldn't know what it was if they didn't tell you.
But adjusted for home chefs.
You are hilarious not only do i watch because your food recipes look amazing but i keep coming back because of all your randomness its awesome dont change it! 😊
I really enjoy the edits of this channel, and the food looks... DELICIOUS
Chips and cheese my favorite, and the huge flour tortillas
The Chipotle bibimbap!! 🤣 I think you're on to something josh! 👍
That is a sad looking burrito bowl from Chipotle and of course your burrito bowl looks appetizing next to it. I will have you know that when I get my burrito bowl from Chipotle it looks just like yours and it’s delicious! It’s one of the few restaurants that I can eat out at because of my food allergies. But yes, making your own at home will ALWAYS be better for you.
Wow, how delicious this looks is criminal!
Ooh. Ooh! OOH! Do the California Pizza Kitchen!!
I came across this video yesterday trying to find a well balanced meal to cook for my Husband and I. Figuring out what to make for dinner for the rest of my life is probably my hardest task. I could eat the same thing everyday all week, which I did most of my adult life before I was cooking for 2. 🤣
Anyways, this was my first time making homemade pinto beans.
The rice was a pretty perfect lime zested cilantro rice, too.
i find it helps if i force myself to plan out a week's menu - so all my thinking effort is over the weekend
That looks so good holy dude😋
0:57 I know that reference hahaha
If Joshua Weissman, Adam Ragusea & Gordon Ramsay would do a cooking video together, the world would be at peace.
TRUEEEEEEEE
i could go with "just" joshua and adam. Gordon would be the cherry on the top
Can you do the carnitas bowl? Love this episode! Chipotle is about the only "fast food" our family feels "good" about.
Whas I the only one who thought the sour cream with hot souce was an egg?
lol no. I thought it was an egg too. I was like “since when does chipotle offer eggs?” 😂😂
Oh man! Missed the chance to soak your beans overnight in vinegar to reduce phytic acid and make them even better!
They’ve been really skimping people on their portions lately, thanks for making this
Can you do a but better on the grilled chicken club from chick fal a please
Also:
Chipotle: $12.59
Josh's: $463.59 (conservative estimate)
Made this recipe for dinner - HUGE hit! Thank you Josh - LOVE your videos and recipes!
thank you papaaa ✨️ also thank you for not disrespecting mexican culture while making something that is not mexican better ✨️💜
"CHAI-POTAL"
$16 dollars for a burrito bowl with guac and a medium drink at chipotle.. The most overpriced fast food out there.
If you think that’s the most overpriced fast food out there you clearly haven’t been to a McDonald’s recently LOL you’ll pay more for a shitty burger fries and a drink
Wrong, they use quality ingredients so the price is justified
This is what I’ve been craving and chiefly burrito
i am a grill cook at a chipotle making 14.50 an hour wich is great but i was honestly super super suprised on how well the resturaunts are ran its super impresive and they are by the book to the period in a sentence. its not to bad at all.
As Trixie Mattel would say “Condomless burrito”
7:16 beautiful
Gosh darn it, not even a minute into the video and now I can never unsee chipotle as chai pottle
Thank you for the recipe! Thank you for not swearing!!
omg when you said your version of the bowl looked like bibimbap i remembered back when i was a lil christian girl my youth group at this korean church were obsessed with chipotle for a minute and called it “mexican bibimbap”
This is a masterpiece josh.
