Martins talking about Japan and lifting rocks from a temple that haven't been lifted over 100 years ago was so wholesome. I loved this one! And he's lucky having Joshua cook for him!

Really liked Martin in this video he is such a good, nice and humble guy, not scared to awnser questions, a good change of pace from the same judges and visitations that Joshua uses
Josh, please make this a more regular format for interviewing interesting and insightful guests. Absolutely loved this. It's a fresh take on Hot Ones in some sense. Absolutely loved how you gave us such fantastic insights into Martins' life over food you prepped for him, and how unlike most seasoned interviewers who are terrible at their job, you actually allowed him to speak and share his stories. Kudos to the format and the editing on this one too. Massive W dude.
Replying just in case it's more obvious than the upvote but couldn't agree move. My two favourite interview shows/formats are BBC's Desert Island Discs and Hot Ones, 'cause there's something more than just "question answer". This could totally do that too
This is it. The cooking, the guest, the editing. This is PERFECT. The interview format is so good. I love the fact you just ask questions they can answer forever. Do this more!
There's a series on youtube with a similar format called the last meal which I really love, celebrity guests give a list of the foods they'd eat as a hypothetical last meal while having an interview with the host which usually delves into more serious/personal topics as well.
I know a lot of this channels content revolves around evaluating food, but what really shined here was the interview; was probably one of my favorite videos yet (and the guest was awesome as well).
A common trend with cooks is that they tolerate a lot of the bullshit specifically because those little moments of people enjoying their food make up for it. To a man like Josh, it goes beyond validation - it's a reminder why he does this.
This is the best video I've seen from you, and I like your videos. This was just great - the variety of foods, your brief prep montoges, Martins' affable nature and stories, your enthusiasm for both him and the food challenge, wow it all just gelled. As others have said, please do more like this.
That was such a refreshing video. Love the idea of inviting someone and interviewing them, while preparing delicous meals. Thank you Joshua! Martins was such a joy to watch eat and listen to.
This has to be my favorite video. Josh cooking for and interviewing someone who has a lot to share who is reminiscing everything and opens his heart is really enjoyable and soothing.
genuinely one of the best videos of Josh i have watched lately. maybe it was the editing and having the guest talk more than Josh or the entire concept but i thoroughly enjoyed this
Martins is so cute with how much he's enjoying the food! And listening to him talk about different cultures and how much he respects them is really lovely.
props to Martins Licis for toughing it out... people need to realize that when strongmen eating 10000 calories, it is spread out to about 5 meals a day and it's usually after a 2-3 hour intense working/training after eating.. despite their massive frame, they can not eat that much in 1 sitting granted eating 2000 calories PER MEAL, where as that's the daily recommended intake for us plebs is still impressive
The maybe could eat it all at once, but keeping the protein and calorie levels consistent throughout the day keeps anabolism going. Some folks even wake up in the night to eat. Not advisable unless you're also burning 7-8000 calories a day in exercise (which isn't a little; that's several hours of work no matter how you get it done).
Eating a 1400kcal diet is hard. 2800kcal is easy-peasy. 6000kcal again, very hard. I can imagine 10k. I love food, I have a big belly but chewing all that up is a workout too xD
@@blairhoughton7918 while there are certainly people who get up in the night to eat on a bulk, I can guarantee 0 pro strongmen do. Sleep is so damn vital when you're pushing yourself that hard, even if their actual training volume is way lower than most other sports
Digestion is a funny thing. Martins is a huge guy and clearly very athletic, but he can still barely handle eating this much (which is understandable if you're a normal person). Yet there's a Korean mukbanger named Tzuyang who makes 3-4 videos a week where she eats a similar amount and she probably weighs 110 pounds. It's like a super power.
@@MarkDeSade100 the reason Tzuyang can eat so much is due to a medical condition, she doesn't absorb nutrients of the food she eats like a normal person and instead the food she eats gets passed to her bowels significant faster than a normal person, on top of having the stomach size that's 2x the size of normal people, that's why she can eat so much, Tzuyang has shared in the past that she doesn’t have healthy intestines, which is why she is often seen running to the bathroom while eating, which happens to work in her favor because of what she does for a living, it's also why she doesn't gain weight, but in the long run, I don't think that's safe for her to keep doing this.
