If you're visiting for the first time I'd like to welcome you to For The Corps. I understand first hand how difficult transitioning out of the Military is. I left active duty in 2014 and walked away with a measly 20% Disability Rating. At the time I was happy with a little extra cash. Year after year my conditions that I never got looked at while on active duty started to worsen, my mental health severely declined and my marriage was hanging on by a thread which later ended altogether. I was lost and considered taking my own life many times. I didn't understand what the hell was happening to me.
About 6 years after I'd gotten out of the military I checked myself in to the VA for a mental health evaluation. I was at the end of my rope. I decided to start taking action and getting the help I'd needed for so long. On this journey I met some other Veterans that literally took me under their wings. They educated me on the VA Disability Claims process and encouraged me to file for more claims. I ended up going from 20%-80%. This was life changing because not only was I receiving the help that I'd needed from the VA, but I was not scraping by paycheck to paycheck.
It is my MISSION to assist and help other Veterans and active duty service members as they transition out as well! For The Corps is my attempt at creating the resource I wish I had when I left the military!
Semper Fidelis to all of my brothers and sisters from all branches.

Can't get excited about this. This measure was put in place in the 1970's. The fact is that the actual cost of living is much higher than 8.7%, but it looks great on our direct deposit, right? Look at varying factors and one will find that we are hovering around 14% actual inflation, which means we are still losing 5% or so. Does the 300 bucks per month help for the 100 percenters? Most would say it's better than nothing. The veteran still gets financially screwed when all is said and done. Hua.

Elderly people on Social Security have been screaming about this forever. The bad news for them is that Medicare costs seem to go up about the same amount as they earn in SS. This year is going to be an exception, though.

You are correct about inflation being much higher than we're led to believe. Increases to VA compensation will never be enough, but anything is definitely better than nothing. My hope is that more Veterans, especially older folks pursue secondary conditions. Also, I just hope that more Vietnam era guys see these videos and realize that they are entitled to much more than they're getting or not getting. I helped a Vietnam vet recently go from nothing to most likely 100%. He's been diagnoses with cancer and other conditions that are all presumptive under the agent orange exposure list and all he had to do was submit his claims! Nobody ever told him he was able to do that. Fuckin infuriating. Guys in his 70's driving trucks...

@@ForTheCorps My father died from the effects of Agent Orange at age 41. He was one of the first group to have symptoms, so the benefits didn't come in for it until after he passed. My grandmother fought for it to be recognized as the cause.

You can thank Richard Nixon for the Cola increase, you can thank 46* for the inflation which is hovering around 18.5%
