I’m 29 years old with a masters degree and I recently enlisted. I ship out on March 21st, 2024!
Update: I seriously regret enlisting, I’m stationed at Fort Polk. I signed 10 year contract so I guess I’m stuck here and I already hate my life.
I wish you luck
Congrats
The best of luck to you!!!
@@notdarri2945 Thank you! I ship out to tomorrow to Parris Island!
@@TheTypeofGuy-pb2ui please keep us updated bro, I'm thinking about joining also don't lose motivation!
i am 31 years old now and i have been thinking about joining for the past 4 months. what he says about being scared and regrets definitely settling in. Wasting so much time on school i could have been doing something greater with my life. Thanks all for your service.
I want to enlist in 2024. I chose the Marines instead of the Army or Air Force because of how challenging it is and that sense of brotherhood.
amen brother i’m gonna be there in 2025

Watching this as a father whose son is about to join the Marines. Thanks for sharing.
The Marine Corps is a brotherhood and it is for life. Getting ready to retire for the 2nd time, as I look back and find the one thing that I'm most proud of, besides being a good father is earning my Eagle Globe and Anchor. Marines, we don't have to look back and wish. PLT 1026. Semper Fi brothers.
17 and will be sent to parris following hs graduation in a few months. thank u for ur service and informative videos, it means a lot to me
Semper Fi Marine. I've been out 52 years and I still have the pride and love of the corps. ❤
Rah. The biggest transformation that’s ever happened to me. From 1980 to present, the push, training, drive and digging deep into your soul to accomplish 1 rotation will stay with you forever. It becomes a way of life. It shapes your life, drive and desire. Never say never. Never quit. Marines don’t quit, therefore all life surprises are simply an obstacle to figure out how to overcome. The USMC is more than grinding, guns and attacking; it’s going to teach you life lessons that are applicable to every damn thing you do for the rest of your life. Your relationships, marriage, children , career and planning Marines are great men, as all Service members are. But there’s an elite scope of training that prepares and helps young men with life challenges. Sure, there’s potential danger every day, but that danger v life’s danger isn’t even close. Life will throw shit at you to destroy, marine dangers are for the proud and confident who are trained and ready for ANY challenge. Go for it, itll be over before you know it and be the best educator in life
And you'll learn to paint rocks! 😮

GOOD LORD! Somebody putting out a video about what Marine boot camp is REALLY like? I have got to see this!😮
Very humbled about my experience being a Marine. I have a lot of good experience, some bad ( happens no matter where you go ) but I have no regrets.
Social media helps cushion the blow, although it's still a major life change that you never expected. In my day there was no social media and no one told you anything. To say it was a total shock was a understatement.
Hoping to enlist after senior year. Looking forward for more vids
I enlisted in the Corps in 1986 because I was a legal adult and parent birds had to kick their baby bird out of the nest and make him (me) fly. It worked. Nothing good in life comes easy and earning the right to claim the title of Marine is something I'll always be proud of. And that's just the beginning of my life of a confident and respectable man who can accomplish anything I set my mind too. Semper Fi.
I'm worried about my future regret of not joining and I'm 19 as of yesterday. I want to push my limits and know my strength. Theres nothing that exercises your perseverance as becoming a Marine does
I just signed up going to the recruiter tomorrow wish me luck on boot camp I'm gonna need it
I’m not of age yet, and still a few years away, but I want to be a Marine. I don’t know if i’ll make it, but I will try my best. When I turn 18 I think I’ll enlist.

No argument, boss. There is nothing in life quite like Marine boot camp. I joined the Army (mistake!) in 1983. Like you, finding useful, accurate information was hard.
Thank you for the input. I’m on the fence about joining and I think you convinced me to give it a go 🇺🇸
I’ve seen some very negative things about the marines, like people saying stuff like they’ve seen there friend take there rifle to there mouth and blow there brains out. It was that bad but I think those people just had undiagnosed depression or something. I want to join the marines badly, I’ve just heard horrible things about them.
Dude... that was FULL METAL JACKET. 😂
@@minimansonstar yes I know the movie but that’s not what I’m talking about lmao you think just because it’s in a movie it can’t happen in real life?
I remember when I was going through Army Combat Engineer OSUT basic training in FT. Leonard Wood MO. While going through I met a prior service Marine that decided to join the Army and reclass as a Combat Engineer. He told me that it was pretty much the same thing, just that he noticed that Marine DIs yelled a bit more. I don’t know because I didn’t join the Marine Corps, only because at the time I remember they were only accepting GEDs if you had 15 college credits to go with it (my loss, I suppose). Also, when I went through my training cycle one of our Drill Sergeants was a prior service Marine.
I will say that, what I noticed most is that the Army has several different locations where recruits go through basic training depending on MOS. And depending on your MOS you will go through “regular” basic training, or One Station Unit Training (OSUT) which means basic training and MOS training lumped into one long boot camp; because of this some recruit training in Army may be harder and longer depending on where you end up. But, with the Marines everyone goes through the exact same boot camp which (in my opinion) makes for a better culture and a more cohesive environment. Hence why Marines seem to have a tighter bond in the Corps. But, that’s just me talking.
Plan on joining in about a year really don’t know why I won’t to join the corps I just can’t find a reason besides wanting to struggle and be my best self
Joined the marines boot camp was so easy the only hard part was not being able to talk to my family and learning my grandma died months later
You join the army. You become a marine. Semper Fi bro's 76.
Going to meps tomorrow 😆😆
Fantastic video, Semper Fi.
Yooo me too dude
What’s your MOS your gonna sign up for at MEPS?

How was it like at that time when you were in the corps?
I'm currently a Cyber Security engineer who wants to join the military. (I'm 24 and living on my own as well)
My father wants me to join the Air Force rather than the Marine Corps. He states, "you look more like an Air Force kind of person"
The guy in the video says give it a try in the corps. But what do you think?
I was an 0341 1979-83, I served with 3/9, 2/4 and 3/7 SEMPER FI 🇺🇸🦅🌎⚓️
I’m 17 looking for a branch, would you still recommend the marines?
@@Fuzzix0I’m also 17. I chose the marines because it was the most challenging and to me, most honourable. I’m also joining infantry, too. If you’re looking for experience that you can then make a career out of, look for MOS list for navy and air force. Best of luck to you friend

I never understood why Marines brag about their boot camp being the longest of all the services. 🤔
I just figured it takes them longer to learn the same stuff. 😅
@@Knight-SgtReyes
Yet...
The fallout rate is the same as the Army and Navy. 11-14%
So, how much harder could it be? 🤔
The Marines are not bragging, just stating facts. The training is longer and harder because that's what it takes to make Marines. It has nothing to do with taking longer to teach the same stuff because Marine training is not the same. I never understood why the other branches get so butt hurt over people stating facts like Marine boot camp being the longest and hardest basic training.
@@callewfitz
I went through Army basic training and Infantry school. I've yet to have a Marine tell me what they did in their basic and Infantry school that I didn't.
Go ahead, I'll wait.
PS...
The other branches get "butthurt".
But the MC has to lift themselves up. By putting the other branches down. In eight years in the Army. Only once did I hear a derogatory word about the MC. In a joint exercise with Marines. My commander, to get a laugh, called them glorified grunts.
@@JesusGarcia-cs9wl Ok, first of all we are talking basic training here not infantry school. The Army's and Marine Corps' infantry schools pretty much teach the same things. In basic training Marines run 3 miles(and more) versus 2 miles like the Army does for the fitness test, All Marines are required to pass swim qualification before they can even graduate basic training, and the training is 4 to 5 weeks longer which places more stress on the mind and body(the whole 12-13 weeks is a shark attack not just a few minutes). Should I continue?! The Marine Corps doesn't have to uplift itself by putting the other branches down. Maybe we just like to mess with you guys because we know it gets under your skin. In your eight years of service maybe you only heard one derogatory word about the Marine Corps (which I highly doubt). However, I served 25 years in the Marines and witnessed the Army and the other branches talk all kinds of crap about the Marines and we usually returned the favor. Most of the time it was all in good fun. Bottom line is we all talk crap about each other but we all serve the same purpose and that's defense of the nation. No reason for anyone to be butt hurt over a little intra-service rivalry. It's not that serious.
@@callewfitz
Yes, please continue. Cause so far you haven't said anything worth responding to. I don't know about now. But in 1981 when I went through basic. I had to water qual too. I had to swim across an Olympic size pool in full gear. Uniform, helmet, boots, weapon and ruck. Not to mention, the far side of the pool had 50 guys jumping up and down in unison. Creating three foot waves.
And as far as ribbing each other. I thought that's what I was doing. Leave it to a Marine to get all emotional about it.
PS
Pretty sure Marine basic is three weeks longer. Not four or five. Y'all love to exaggerate.
