I am no doctor, but I speculated that after exercising and the hot tub it may have played a factor relating to his heart. After years of substance abuse, your organs aren't the same, nor is your nervous system. He could have had a heart attack and subsequently drowned.

My friends both died from their lifestyles- nothing natural about their deaths. I do want to say, Perry did bring joy to millions. his timing, and sheer talent was always appreciated - I'm sorry he's gone.

He was trying to get back into activity, but that takes a toll on your body as you get older. I get wanting to get back into shape but know your limits and take things slow. I'm gonna miss this man for he made me laugh during some of my darker days, thank you Matthew Perry. 🙏🏾

He really wanted to be remembered for helping people more than for Friends. And he really did. He helped Danny Bonaduce by driving him to his appointments and such for an entire month.(Danny was in same rehab in 2011) Now at this time Matthew was doing well and had just finished his stay in this rehab.. It wasn't the end of it, unfortunately for him, but he was helping people even in the middle of his own journey. Just so cool.

I am saddened for his assistant as she had been with him for a few years and he attributes a lot of genuine support to her. His body was worn out due to his raft of health conditions. It's easy to die in a hot tub, especially if there were any other strains on the heart. The hot water puts a great stress on the circulation, in its attempt to cool the brain. I am very careful hot tubbing, even though I have no cardiac problems. 🎉
Sometimes after u work out...& then go into a hot tub/ jacuzzi; you can't stay in there too long you can become ill. It's happened to me after I workout and gone into a Jacuzzi I got shaky and ill and almost passed out... it's a beautiful thing to be in a hot tub / jacuzzi but you have to time it especially if you've struggled with physical illnesses. You can't be in the warm hot water for a long time. it sounds like he got ill & passed out & tragically died in the water😢 prayers for his soul that he's in heaven with God and Jesus & the Blessed Mother mary. ❤Prayers for his mom and dad❤& his family as they go through the grieving process❤ & prayers for all his "friends" as They Mourn this beautiful man... rest in peace Matt❤❤❤😢😢😢 Love you from your home state of Massachusetts❤❤😢😢❤❤
He really seems like a genuine person. I’m not a big Friends fan (big bang theory), but I thought it was good when he released his memoir with a lot of stuff that doesn’t always show him in a positive light. Ultimately it showed him to be a normal person with flaws and demons, but a real desire to improve and be happy. That’s what we all want. It really struck me when he said that he was worried when he first got famous, because he still wasn’t happy. And what would he do if he was never happy. I know the feeling of wishing for milestone in life, get it, and then getting that pit in your stomach when you thought you were on the outside looking in only to realize you’re still on the outside (thanks brain). But I think what happens is you eventually realize simple things can make you well (I say well and not happy, because nobody is happy all the time), but by the time you realize that, you feel like you’ve already been down the rabbit hole too long. RIP

This made me so sad 😞 I watch friends almost everyday and it brings me joy, kind of makes me feel less alone 💗 The medication he had at his house makes sense given his health troubles. I think that the exercise with his poor COPD lungs and likely other health issues were probably what caused his death 💔
COPD will do this to many. We recently, in our town, had a rash of 8 men barely over 50 years old & recently diagnosed with COPD have a 'slight episode' sent to KU Medical Center yet not make it. I too was shocked that Mr. Perry died but having worked in the medical field as a med aide for nearly 20 years I knew it was complications from COPD

My substance abuse started in school when I got bullied and no one was there for me. After I tried to kill myself in 6th grade and got made fun of for it I went off the deep end. If you've ever bullied someone just remember that if they die young not only will you be rightfully haunted by their faces in your sleep, but every single person who loves them will remember you as the person who killed them.

I have never started smoking cigarettes or weed and thanks to Matthew Perry I never will. So now we know he suffered from COPD the smoker's disease. He was a life long smoker even if he was sober from other hard drugs, painkillers and alcohol. I know he was wealthy and successful but he has mentioned himself in interviews and his memoir he has his own demons many would never understand that overwhelms the fame and riches he projects just for being a celebrity not by choice.

My father let me try a cigarette and beer when I was a kid, I was disgusted by the flavor of both. I never had the curiosity to try again and to this day I've never been a smoker or a heavy drinker, I don't like beer or hard liquor, once in a blue moon I'll drink a margarita or piña colada at a restaurant.

It's happened to me after I workout and gone into a Jacuzzi I got shaky and ill and almost passed out...
it's a beautiful thing to be in a hot tub / jacuzzi but you have to time it especially if you've struggled with physical illnesses.
You can't be in the warm hot water for a long time.

He really seems like a genuine person. I’m not a big Friends fan (big bang theory), but I thought it was good when he released his memoir with a lot of stuff that doesn’t always show him in a positive light. Ultimately it showed him to be a normal person with flaws and demons, but a real desire to improve and be happy. That’s what we all want. It really struck me when he said that he was worried when he first got famous, because he still wasn’t happy. And what would he do if he was never happy. I know the feeling of wishing for milestone in life, get it, and then getting that pit in your stomach when you thought you were on the outside looking in only to realize you’re still on the outside (thanks brain). But I think what happens is you eventually realize simple things can make you well (I say well and not happy, because nobody is happy all the time), but by the time you realize that, you feel like you’ve already been down the rabbit hole too long. RIP

The medication he had at his house makes sense given his health troubles. I think that the exercise with his poor COPD lungs and likely other health issues were probably what caused his death 💔

COPD will do this to many. We recently, in our town, had a rash of 8 men barely over 50 years old & recently diagnosed with COPD have a 'slight episode' sent to KU Medical Center yet not make it. I too was shocked that Mr. Perry died but having worked in the medical field as a med aide for nearly 20 years I knew it was complications from COPD
The body is a miracle, please take care of it, if you still have a properly working thyroid, at least you have something to work with. I hate cigarretes

My substance abuse started in school when I got bullied and no one was there for me. After I tried to kill myself in 6th grade and got made fun of for it I went off the deep end.
If you've ever bullied someone just remember that if they die young not only will you be rightfully haunted by their faces in your sleep, but every single person who loves them will remember you as the person who killed them.

Friends has always been my favourite show and chandler was always my favourite character, so much that I realised that I modelled a lot of my humour and sarcasm off of him.

I have never started smoking cigarettes or weed and thanks to Matthew Perry I never will. So now we know he suffered from COPD the smoker's disease. He was a life long smoker even if he was sober from other hard drugs, painkillers and alcohol. I know he was wealthy and successful but he has mentioned himself in interviews and his memoir he has his own demons many would never understand that overwhelms the fame and riches he projects just for being a celebrity not by choice.
Smoking weed doesn't cause COPD. It's significantly less damaging than cigarettes.
To be clear, non-smokers develop COPD, too. Per the CDC: "As many as 1 out of 4 Americans with COPD never smoked cigarettes." Of course, if you have it, quit smoking!

My conclusion is never start if you never develop a habit/addiction with these vices to begin with.
My father let me try a cigarette and beer when I was a kid, I was disgusted by the flavor of both. I never had the curiosity to try again and to this day I've never been a smoker or a heavy drinker, I don't like beer or hard liquor, once in a blue moon I'll drink a margarita or piña colada at a restaurant.
What do you mean it wasn't his choice to be a celebrity? Yes, it was he wanted to go into acting. That's what he moved to LA when he was 15 to live with his dad.

People need to be careful with hot tubs and saunas, especially if I’ll or weak body, regardless the heat is too much and the human body is meant to be at a stable temperature.
As an alcoholic that has been drinking everyday for 10 years, I am absolutley shattered by this mans passing, I never watched Friends, but I saw his emotional interview about his alcoholism and addiction and how honest and forthcoming he was and i just.. broke down in pitiful tears, i hope he knows how much he was loved and that he is at peace now

Sounds like the activity brought on a cardiac event. Complaining of fatigue could possibly be because of that. Sounds to me like he probably had a massive heartache.
