when I was a teenager, my dad loved fresh bread. he didnt like store bought bread. My mom was a cooker, not a baker. I loved doing both. He bought me a large wooden bowl. Oh boy every saturday I made bread and rolls for him, and us. I was my daddys baby I didnt do nothin wrong in his eyes. you should have seen the biscuits. Hockey pucks. totally different than making yeast bread, but I eventually figured it out. I still prefer yeast bread. slap and fold. grandmas recipe.
Gotta love my stand mixer.
For the people wondering if this is good to freeze, yes. I made two fresh and then froze the other half and it works wonderfully. Now I recommend letting it come to room temperature overnight or as long as it needs before using it but it still tastes great. Always keep it covered in plastic wrap in and out of the freezer to keep it from getting dry or freezer-burnt. I'm not sure how long it'd last in the freezer though because we love pizza around here!

My husband used to run a pizza place. We have our own family recipe and using a stand up mixer with a dough hook makes it so much easier. THe nice thing too with homemade pizza is that you can really put on as much or as little toppings as possible.

We have four kids to your seven so we had dough leftover. I've just pulled out the bestest cinnamon rolls made with the leftover dough. I just melted two sticks of butter, added in one cup of sugar and two tablespoons cinnamon and one teaspoon of vanilla. Stir all that together. Pour off the super liquid bit into the bottom of the dish you're going to bake them in. Spread the remaining goo onto a rolled out rectangle, roll into a log and slice and place into dish. Bake at 375 for 30-40 minutes. No triple x sugar icing needed. The goo at the bottom is enough. enjoy!!

I love this recipe! I have been using your recipe for a year! We also use leftovers for pizza toppings too like, taco meat becomes taco pizza and BBQ chicken becomes BBQ chicken pizza. it helps clean out the fridge and cut down on waste. :)

So I am a pizza freak; I absolutely love pizza but hate spending so much money when ordering it from pizza places. I've tried other pizza recipes in the past (which turned out) but didn't produce the type of crust texture I prefer for pizza. This is by far the best pizza dough recipe I've tried both in taste and how easy it is to whip together. I've made this pizza recipe a few times now and everytime it has been amazing. I also love how it makes a lot of pizzas so I always have dough left over that I wrap up and either freeze or place in fridge depending on how soon I think we will be having pizza next. THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR SHARING THIS VIDEO! It's completely upped my pizza game.

Thank you for this recipe. Tried it out today. Ofcourse, I halved the ingredients, because i have a small family. The directions were very clear and the dough came out super amazing,
I teach cooking classes in and around my community and also have 3 adult children (all living at home), a husband and a grandchild i raise (and feed) and i used your recipe. I loved it because it was enough to feed many. The only thing we added was a egg wash on top. My family loves how pretty it looks when we do that. We have now cataloged your families recipe into our's thank you for that. Tonight we are having company over and are going to try making stambolli's and calzones.
I reduced the portions and made four small pizzas and they turned out great! We prefer a bit of crust on our pizzas so I think I'll pre-bake them a bit before adding the to toppings. It was beautifully soft!

I used this dough and used the pizza stone and high temps you suggested in your pizza making video. Pizza perfection! I just made 14 calzones with this recipe; cranked my electric oven to the max, 500, and baked them two at a time in 8' pre-heated cast iron pans. They turned out sooooo yummy!!! Thank you so much for the dough recipe and taking the time to make the instructional video!! I love being taught by Christa. She makes me feel at ease. :D

I made this last night and it was super quick and oh, so delicious! The family loved it! I didn't have a lot of time so I put it in my dehydrator to rise at 110 degrees. Took about 25 minutes to double. Great recipe. Thanks!

If you let the yeast 'proof' after the sugar and oil for about 5 minutes, covered, the yeast gets very foamy and nice. To me it seems to make the dough rise better. Great recipes these folks have.

Brad and Christa, this is my husband's new favorite pizza dough. I have tried Noreen's and Bev's. He liked those, but this dough is softer and easier for him to eat. Since there is just the two of us we had to cut it intro thirds. It was wonderful.

Update: I've tried other pizza dough recipes and this one is the one I go back to because it is a fail safe. I also made little pizza dough bites. I have to this recipe and it makes about 35 perfect little pizza stuffed bites

I really wanted to make this, because it's hard to find just the 'right' dough recipe for Calzone...I had next to no hope it would be better than any other...but it freaking was. Thank you. Also, for those who live alone etc....I halved the recipe ingredients and it turned out great. I thought she was nuts for not kneading more...but, y'know what? I think that was the secret. Whatever it was, thank you.

Good clear instructions with no bull
It worked! First time Ive ever made dough from scratch and it worked! Only thing id do better next time is ensure the dough is under a very moist towel and in a warmish spot to rise. Mine kinda didnt rise until it was sitting next to the stove for almost an hour (AFTER the first set of waiting).

I don't comment often on you tube but I've got to comment on this. I've tried this recipe and many others you've posted and they are ALL soooooo delicious!!! We only have four children (youngest only 7 months) so we always half the ingredients and that is more than enough for our family. However with this recipe we do the full amount and then with the other half of the dough we make super mini calzone's (aka homemade hot pockets) and freeze them for lunch or whenever!

I had been using you French bread recipe for pizza dough because it's so stinking easy. Tried this one last time and everyone loved it. Don't really know that there is a lot of difference but my bunch says there is so they're always right 😄

I always make my breads without salt and I don’t notice. I’m sure if I had both next to each other I would, but homemade bread is so delicious, all I think it YUM! When I take a bite.

i made the pizza dough today and its so good i did it by hand like you guys did i added some pizza season to the dough i had bought a while back and never used .i would love to see a pic of the finished product you made i did use instant yeast and bread flour

After watching your Calzone video, this was way too much pizza crust for two people who have never made bread before and I was inspired to find a smaller recipe. Everything turned out great using one packet of yeast and 3-1/2 cups of flour. Thank you for your kind words of wisdom. *Recipe used was found at LauraInTheKitchen for anyone interested in a small recipe.
Did you use instant yeast and how much oil did you use please?

I love the way you scrape all the goodies. Drives me Cray Cray to see cooks leave so much of goodies on spoons and in bowls and pans. Ty ty ty. I also don’t like using wooden spoons. Dough and food stick to them, when they stir meat the wooden spoons don’t turn over the food it just moves it along.

I made this today and want to thank you for a great recipe.
I am only feeding 4 so it was a lot of dough. But I made 3 large shells and baked them along with 3 individual ones. They are now in the freezer. I have 10 pizza pops and 4 individual pizza's. some will be supper and some will be in the freezer for latery.
Your recipe was so easy and the kitchen aid did the work. My arms are not good so it helps. Thanks again, this one is a keeper.:)

my GD liked them for lunch and the dough came out very well. I just put it into zip lock type freezer bags since I knew I would be using them quickly. :)
