These videos should be playing in Congress every day. They should be on in a loop on video screens at Capitol hill. This is not about "bleeding hearts" or left or right wing politics. This is not about people views on drug taking or homelessness or how tidy the streets are. This is about a humanitarian crisis in a first World Country. This a tragedy. When people are slumped on the sidewalk of a busy Street, when people are out cold, when people are walking along talking to themselves, my heart breaks. I've been homeless, I have mental health issues, I know what it is.
This is all by political design. Create dependency, Exponentially and then create dependency on the Government for the solution. This is all by design. It’s following the opium wars of China perfectly.
The only way to fix the drug epidemic is to strip these druggies of their free will, load them onto buses, and intern them in a barbed wire fenced camp way out in the hills, and then force them to take part in drug and alcohol classes. One counselor per 100 druggies to keep it cheap. Tons of videos are available so the treatment can literally be put on endless loops, played on televisions planted all around their open dorms. That would fix the problem. However, these fools will never agree to give up their free will. None of them go to any of the freely available NA meetings that are surely available all around town. THEY DO NOT WANT YOUR HELP, and I certainly don't want congress to waste any of my tax dollars on them.

So there is basically this, jail, or you can have the police come in and hassle them to the point they pick another street or city to go to. I'm not defending the politicians but it's not like they can just say, "stop being a drug addict" and then suddenly all these people quit using. Maybe jail is the place for them? But there is no "voluntary solution" here.

Jail might not affect the addicts, but jail will definitely stop a dealer from selling it. Some of these dealers are serving hundreds of people per day. Just taking one of them off the streets will have an impact.

I used to live on the streets of Norfolk VA for a few months. Now I own an amazing house in the Appalachian mountains in PA after staying in college during my homelessness, reaching graduation and getting my shit together. Amazing to me, not anything super special, but I can't sit here while people suffer, I always get tired of city life and travelling and move home, then realize I can still help so im selling my shit to go on the road and hopefully help people like this, more like people who just lost everything to a natural disaster. But in between traveling to mountains and disasters, I will help addicts and homeless. It's a world away, but still our world. I could EASILY be down there as an addict.

The world I live in, off-grid high in the Cascades with clean air and clean water, is a million miles from those nasty streets.
I used to live on the streets of Norfolk VA for a few months. Now I own an amazing house in the Appalachian mountains in PA after staying in college during my homelessness, reaching graduation and getting my shit together. Amazing to me, not anything super special, but I can't sit here while people suffer, I always get tired of city life and travelling and move home, then realize I can still help so im selling my shit to go on the road and hopefully help people like this, more like people who just lost everything to a natural disaster. But in between traveling to mountains and disasters, I will help addicts and homeless. It's a world away, but still our world. I could EASILY be down there as an addict.

@@rafahounds Yeah, I had it broken in 2 spots and 2 spots in my neck. To this day, I can not get the treatment I need. I was on percs for 5 years and that came to an abrupt halt. Not sure why so here I sit not being to really do anything.

The problem is that drug addicts can not hear. Satan has gotten their brains. So appallingly sad! Such hopeless derelicts need to be rounded up and taken to detox hospitals for quite some time. Drug dealers must be rounded up and taken to prison for life. Their shiny vehicles should be sold to provide housing, personal items and food for their victims. Social services, group and individual therapies and church programs to help them stay on their feet. Few may make it! Those who can not live independently could be in a special community where they can stay sober and make goods people can buy. No way addicts should be allowed to take over the streets as they self-destruct. Theirs is not freedom! And ours is criminal negligence!!

As a parent, to have to witness this,omg, If it was my daughter my child doing this to themselves I would prefer them to be dead, to live like that, they don't even lay down when they are asleep, bent over, vulnerable, anyone could do ANYTHING to them. To live like this, no I have that wrong to exist like that is not living, your already dead. Brakes your heart. You would die next to them. Every day waiting for the phone call that your child passed away, not knowing what they are doing for the next jab. As a parent you also wouldn't recover. Probably at home looking after the grandkids they left behind.

As a mother of a woman who is incapable of functioning in the real world.. There we're times when she was in her early 20s that I did hope that she'd go to jail for something minor so I'd know she was safe and alive. We lived in a cold state where an alcoholic could easily die in the cold.
