I lived in Kensington for a while back in the late 80s, just down the street where Sylvester Stallone made the first two "ROCKY" movies, and although the area was a little rough back then, I don't remember the drug problem being out of control like it is now. This stuff has to be so addictive that people are ruining whatever life they have left to this drug. Thank God I left when I did, but feel sorry what has become of a once working class neighborhood of families.

Krokodil is what seems to be going around Philly right now and it's so manufacturered and slowly killing users. Seems incredibly intentional that this drug got on the streets and is spreading like wildfire.

My Dad grew up in Kensington and my grandmother lived there until 1985. As a child, I would go with her to Kensington Ave to shop or take the EL to Center City. Seeing what has become of Kensington makes me want to cry.

They dont WANT to be living like that. You think they are happy and enjoy it?? Alot of times they dont know the first step on how to proceed out of it. Many don't have any support systems or dont know how to reach out for help. It's a medical problem and it can affect ANYONE regardless of race, class, money, religion, age, etc.

Most of these people I guarantee you have been in jail, which therefore have led to a rehabilitation center. People want to live and maintain their drug usage. I guarantee you they have families who have went over and beyond to help them but to not avail. I guarantee you these people know the system better than the system know itself and have single handle abused every opportunity presented to them. So you see dear until a person makes up their mind to quit and put down the drugs there is nothing you can do but pray with them and pray for them.

The way the super wealthy live, and then you see this. I'm on my own, and should be retired, but I didn't plan ahead well. I have to keep working to survive.

My Dad had a store in the 50’s and 60’s at Kensington and Somerset. He’d be heartbroken to see this now.

I'm from the UK, a close friend of mine went living in America for work, came back a few months back and said there is so many streets that just look like zombie lands.

Somebody's mother,father,grandfather,grandmother,son,daughter, sister,brother, nephew, aunt,uncle niece,cousin or friend......Some do escape & do well & never come back, some never leave they spend a lifetime down in the
" bad land's" ! Some families visit, seek out individual's & attempt rescue, it does not alway's work.Some get to re-hab,do very well, get clean & are released only to return within 24hrs. Not a nice place but some call it home.....

I live 20 blocks from this area and it gets worst by the day. I was waiting for the 60 bus and I saw a guy standing on one leg screaming at the top of his lungs for at least a half an hour.

One of my friends sisters is out there she gets beat up every night she’s 72 pounds she walks like she has problems going forward it is sad because she was going there to help with the pandemic for schools to get back to normal.

It's so sad that drugs are so accessible. The war on drugs is a never ending war. I wish it was easy to get up and say there done and they could live a normal life. So very sad.
The accessibility of drugs isn't the problem, the problem is that so many people feel that they have nothing in their lives that is better than ending up like this.
