- On this episode we're back with Jay Meagher from Real Street Performance and Pedro aka Baltic Supra. After almost 2 years of racing(150+ runs) on 50+psi, they take apart the RS1600 2JZ engine to inspect for wear/damage. Jay walks us through their findings and the results were surprising! Enjoy!
Incredible the abuse this engine put up with. Jay is the GOAT!
You the best man
I'm curious about what oil you run. Are you not using 0W40 or 50? I run ethanol too and I'm not sure how fast it loses its lubrication. I have stock cams so I'm not sure if I'd have the same cam wear but I'm slightly concerned. Thanks.
Jon O.
Johnny Outterbridge what’s up fam. My engine oil of choice is Valvoline Vr1 20w-50 works great for ethanol fuel’s
@@BalticSupraRacing Thanks man, great to know. I've been using the same but a local tuner recommended VR1 10W40 over 20W50 since it gets cold up here in the Northeast. He said cold starts are the highest points of wear for these engines if not daily driven.
1 jay building 2 jayz
Great perspective, Jay has such dad vibes, she just wants you to do better and not disappoint him 😅
That run at the beginning is definitely a badass side by side run. That’s one of the greatest.
That one definitely goes down as best baltic supra race for us
This is someone that knows what they're talking about. The level of detail is outstanding. Thank you for sharing this video.
Jay's labor rates just increased 5x after this beauty of a video.
Now i understand why jays legendary
What a legend. Its a privilege to watch Jay work on a 2J like this. Pedro's Supra is a BEAST and its great to see the respect & admiration he displays around Jay you can tell by his body language. EPIC
I’m all ears anytime I’m around Jay. Who better to learn from. 🙏
This mechanic knows his stuff I could listen to him and learn things for weeks great job.🧐👍👏🍻
He's more than just a mechanic...
Anyone else impressed how he took apart the engine like nothing with a very informative conversation😂i couldnt even take it apart without arguing about people making noise😂😂😂
When you've been doing it for 20 years it's nothing to him lol
Those 2JZ engines are the easiest to work on compared to other engines like V8 LSX.
@@Eastern_SA your are out of your mind if you think a jz is easier to work on than ls engine. The ls engine is the absolute easiest engine to work on hands down. It's so basic isn't not even funny...
ClutchkickPJ who cares about your opinion. Who are you to judge people’s minds. STF.
Duuuuuuuuuuuuuude
incredible video! I could watch and listen to Jay forever!
Now I have more appreciation for guys thanking their teams after reaching a new milestone. 👌🏽👌🏽
I love this full teardown video! I hope you all can make more like them :)
They will be. Im waiting for the next one of a buddy of mine
Very informative, great breakdown!! I guess we all know what the new upgrade will be. I hope pedro puts this on his channel because he deserves the views. 👊🏻😊🇦🇺
High pressure oil pump will fix lots of things, new bearings, new rods and pistons, a bigger turbo, maybe some porting and I think it'll all be good.
"Its cool man you like loctite" spoken like a friend who finds out his buddy likes big girls..
Lol!
The key here is you see every imperfection and know what caused it and how to address it , thanks for sharing !
Appreciate it Jay. The knowledge runs deep with you. Always fascinated with Engine Building process, HPA, you and some other sources i read up on.
Thank you Jay for sharing your knowledge, it is appreciated.
What a legend, the guy is literally a 2jz king 👑
I have a enormous amount of respect for you Jay. You are a legend in my book
Thank you. I'm glad to have fallen in love with cars at a young age. It's taken me on a good path.
Lots of great conversations! Like a fly on the wall. Cool teardown.
J is probably the Best mk4 Supra engine Dr in the world!
Roche is just as good
Jay is a true master of his craft. I love 2jz and learn so much from his insights its amazing and helpful for my own build
Tremendous teacher Jay. I learn too much with him. A living book 🏁💯
Jay, great inspection comments on the tear down!
The Team is most essential when it comes to engine longevity as Jay said. Definitely good parts as well. Time to get gauges Pedro my friend.🤣🤣🤣💯💯🏁🏁🏁🏁
Watching these videos make me feel like a kid on Christmas eve all over again.
i love this car - this and the white real st supra are my favorite supras of all time.
"The language the parts are able to talk in.. the witness." Engine builder guru talk!
Jay is the King lots of respect for him!
I would be forever grateful to learn personally from a guy like Jay and even more if I learn with him...
I shall use this knowledge when I put my 2jz together. That I got everything from realstreet, From billet mains to rods and pistons! Guys have the best customer service around 🤘
"Hey Grandpa! Is your car really from the 90's?"
I would love to get my engine build by this experienced guy any day instead of someone who would say "yeah i can make it happen, no worries" . This is a guy you should listen before you tune up the shit out of your engine for sure ! He knows the weaknesses of the engine better than you know your own palms , you can tell this much from the way he talks to the costumer !
I am a guy that is not so thirsty for horsepower , i would totally trust my EVO to this man !!!!
Jay the 🐐
2 amazing dudes!
Wish I knew them lol
This video was way better than the mule engine in my opinion. It was like sitting down over a cup of coffee while Jay tears it down and just soaking up knowledge.
Thanks for tuning in!
I learned a lot watching this video. I mostly learned how broke I am 😆
awesome tear down!
It would be interesting to see a similar tear down of a highly stressed K series.
Man I want to learn from this guy. It’s my dream to build some of the best cars in the world, just a matter of getting there.
When you get those close ups next time when details are getting pointed out, let us see them. That way we can see what is being highlighted. May even circle and use arrows to help the viewer. I would really like to “see” the details that were being highlighted during the tear down.
50 psi wow ....man i`m scared to run 30 psi in mine....That is one well built engine
I'm scared to run 15 psi on my stock Chevy Malibu 1.6L . Lol
I almost run 30psi on a 7M with only the head gasket and ARP update, 2JZ swap in future though for the mk3
Turbo size means everything not psi lol
Zeth Loveless thank you! It’s about combustion pressure. 30psi in a 58mm turbo is not the same as 30psi in an 88mm 😂
@@justinranes3351 Interesting. Why is that?
here i am having problem with my lego teardown
Sounds like Wyoming wind in your shop!
We're just driver's at the end of the day...
Yeah we have say in the whole matter but it definitely take a team to make the dream work
I love the prism back there Jay
Words to live by!
Crazy man Street 1,500hp 😲 i love America 😊
Quarantine made me do it 💪🤣
I run 160psi
In my air compressor
Was gonna say you must be a diesel guy
Bet that ac is nice and cool.
very nice, thank you for the content! What head bolts did this thing have? And can you elaborate on the reasoning behind the oil squirter delete? Also what would you consider as acceptable amount of coolant pressure during a run?
Nice supra that racing channel.😃👍
Good video that racing channel.😃👍
Is that the trc Supra behind jay?
Best engines ever build 1jz 2jz.u can cnt blow them up.toyoya king and legend..
Not trying to sounds like a fanboy, but the 2jz are surprising
That’s a nice stock Supra
One of those situations were less is more 👌👍
The new brian
OK so do we need any more evidence that the 2JZ is the best engine ever produced?
More GSC billet cam failures.. SICK.
Such a nice engine and lots of *oil*
Is that the TRC Supra I spot next to the truck?!
Haha good eye
Every time i see Pedro in the thumbnail i click
Is X a good thing or a bad thing? Asking for a friend? Lmao
Baltic Supra Racing fak emote wasn’t suppose to be there 😂
Wrxlol hahaha, has me worried Race Fam
Baltic Supra Racing nah my nothing but love ❤️
I couldn't imagine taking a hand off the wheel at that speed.
2JZ
awesome !
Wow 😍
Pretty awesome right?!
If you are reading this god bless you ❤️
Not to complain , but if you can turn down the music and turn up Jay that would be great...
Awesome 😎
Is there any other engine that can make 1500 hp with factory oil pump? For as long as the 2j can I guess I should say?
How do you keep traction with all that power on a rwd
❤
Imagine if Toyota came in and built a factory after market block like the Domestics do and allow racers access to more advanced heads and blocks along with internals and do a mini re design
I hate how the OEs just ignore stuff like this
Watching from Antigua #268
Hey! 👋
Does Jay build any other engines?
He sure does, we’re planning to shoot more videos like this one with other engine platforms
What engine oil is used in this engine?
*Everyone liked that*
I know this guy's an expert, but how the hell can he remember how to assemble all these parts?
It's just like anything else. Drive leads to practice, practice gives way to understanding.
Have a brand new set of these cams in my car - this makes me worried!
Just ya know don’t beat the shit out of yours and you’ll be okay......we hope you’ll be okay lol. Just take his advice and be careful maybe Coating that part of the block is worth it.
Cha Ching $$$
MK4 supra is the best car Change my mind
defo top 10
bmw owners are triggered lmfao
My brasil 💚💚
Those bearings were looking pretty thin. I think you were downplaying the amount of wear on the rotating assembly. All good even wear but it wouldn't have lasted much longer that's for sure
What set are you concerned about and I'll discuss it further.
Silly channels like boosted boiz, pfi speed,Devin Niemela,Evan shanks, should watch this and take notice, build it and tune correctly and it will last, but they don't and claim stupid bhp just for youtube view's and it blows up within day's 😭 👎 😂 👏
Moral of the story is have 35k to build a motor or stay stock
You know builders sell just bottom short blocks for a good price
Anybody make titanium buckets?
it's not a great material for buckets unless it's coated and even then the coating will eventually wear
saab 2.0 engine can handle over 700hp with stock internals ( block, pistons, crank, rods), so its the real mother of engines, beats 2jz hp/liter
Is that a Supra ??
Is that a supra?
Issa soupra
What is motors is problem ho no is just the refaire the motors in ok 🏎
good video, horrible audio :(
Oil ...
it'S that a supra?
ehhh
04:15 BMW don’t produce a dry sump engine in any of their cars.
Sorry about that.
I owned a S85 for a few years and recall BMW calling it a dry sump, is my memory of that incorrect?
Jay Meagher The s85 has a different set up from all other engines. It has 2 sumps and has a pump that pumps oil from one sump to the other. Not a dry sump set up
@@dobbo_f21 I recall them calling it a quasi dry sump deal? It's been about 8 years. I guess we don't consider the S70/2 a BWM car engine as it landed in the F1? Thanks
Jay Meagher exactly, so it’s not a dry sump. Quasi means almost. Almost a dry sump.
This guy makes me cringe taking this motor apart wtfff
More 2junkz
Boring
Butthurt much?
Jay lance and jason legends! 2jz masters!!!
