I stopped at Huntington Beach for about 5 hours to to avoid rush hour when driving from Washington to Arizona, driving the coast from the top of the PCH was one of the greatest times of my life, turned a 3day trip in to 3 weeks because you have to stop every 5 minutes it's so fucking beautiful
Right on! It really is...if you ever drive that again make sure you drive through Davenport and Santa Cruz there's some cliffs there that you can stand on the Western edge of America... It's stunning.. about 200 feet up and the wind blows in from the ocean...I grew up about 12 miles inland from Huntington Beach...I-5 was at the end of my street...glad you enjoyed it...it is really is...fucking beautiful.. Gotta bring a mask and snorkel for Diamond street in Laguna Beach... OMG...take the steps down to the beach... Crystal Cove...there's a reef on both sides of the cove 10-15 feet deep warm water all summer... peace! Eric Underwood Class of 81 Downey High school

So , I have been to east coast beaches to know , this was a great trip , even though our hotel was some distance. Folly beach, & some other east coast need expensive "re-neurishment" treatment , due to annual erosion , be it storms or natural strong rip currents. Isle of Palms, north of Charleston SC , will always be a fav!
A pretty kool report. I'm kind of surprised to find out that you can't have bonfires on the beach. I thought that went out of style since the eighties. I also thought it was interesting to know that the lifeguards are trained on that Beach.
I'll take south bay, Palos Verdes throughout Manhattan beach, parking is 5× as good, strand included. Laguna second choice, once went there, had to park/walk 3/4 mile with all nessesitys, felt like john candy within a marathon. It was bunk, say least.
Yeah, bu that walk is worth it as it is a completely master-planned beach with beautiful vegetation, view points, & scenery throughout. But then, you have to walk down those flight of stairs to get to the main beach, & since you sound like me, carrying everything with you, that can be quite a task.
Ah Huntinton Beach. I still remember when I still lived in SoCal my family insisted on visiting it so much I got kinda sick of it lol. Seriously though I never understood why Huntinton Beach is so popular. To me Newport or Laguna is so much better.
LOL. I know what you mean. To me, HB is riff raff. Newport and Laguna are both quality. I HOPE and PRAY (yes, some people still pray) they both remain this way.
Neither of the beaches you mention have a pier. As a local, born and raised in HB, it wasn’t always ugly in DTHB & it has more “life” than either one you mentioned too (places to go nearby aka across the street from the beach), also SURFING is more popular in our beach than either Laguna or Newport.
The reason HB is so nice is because it is conservative and too expensive for the riff raff to live there. Id they do come, they know to act right or they will be dealt with by the surfers as well as the locals. HB locals only
Nice town but those local dog owners don't pick up after their pets. It can be really gross because it"s not just in the residential areas but also on downtown Main St. Really gross.
??? The popular Hunting Beach (where you notice an empty beach). 🤦♂️ Hb use to be a very nice beach, but is starting to look like the begining of the down fall of venice beach.
They need to push more sand in the water to make it more shallow.... it's too Steep even i'm afraid to go swim there.... Walk in 12' feet past low tide and water level already up to my Neck and i'm 6'3"...... My Favorite Beach Bolsa Chica State Beach is the same, a few feet past low tide and i'm barely tip-toeing..... ✌✌
I don't think anybody wants to live in that liberal cesspool. Its only time before they come to your 1.6 million dollar house just to rob you blind and nothing you can do about it because, California.
No, not Santa Cruz!! I took a trip up north to that beach & was disappointed to find NO WAVES. Then, I bumped into some locals & asked where the surf spots where around there, & they told me about Mavericks. I still have to go there.

Actually you can have bonfires at places like Dockweiler beach
You can have bonfires, they said it in the video
Bon fires will never get played out.
I can smell the bonfires in summer. They're fun at night but you have to show up early morning to get one.
The day you show this is the day they closed the beach due to a shark!! How crazy....
When the big one hits I hope to be here
Nothing says summer like stepping on a dirty needle and a pile of human feces.
That sounds more like my neighborhood, Santa Monica.
That would be LA beaches.
Needles in Huntington? I'm guessing you've never been and you probably live across the country.
