    It does - but you have to be careful rinsing it off. If you're using wool felt, do NOT use hot (or even warm) water. It will shrink the felt and make the surface texture pebbly. You can use cold water, roll it up in a towel to soak up the extra water (don't twist!), then lay flat to dry. You can iron it flat from the back if it needs it - use the right temperature for the content.
    I never use acrylic felt, but it should be less fussy. Just rinse and lay flat to dry. Don't iron! It will melt!

    Sure! I save all my scraps and trace smaller images onto them. The surface is a bit bumpy though.

    I just found this video and am thrilled. I have been trying to figure out a way other than tracing. My question is, will the embroidery hoop rub off the film or do I need to get a larger one that won't touch the pattern and film?

    If you can't find it locally - I do ship international. I sent a package to Brasil last week. :-)

    I’m planning on embroidering my backpack. It’s an osprey brand (really thick, water resistant fabric) and I want to use a stabilizer for the inside since the backpack is unlined where I’m planning on embroidering. What would you recommend for a stabilizer for the inside of my backpack? Trying to keep my stitches nice and prevent objects from snagging when I pull them out of my backpack. Thanks!

    No problems. Of course, it will only stick to the top layer of fabric, but as you sew through it they'll anchor together.

    I have hot iron transfers from colonial patterns. Can I iron them on to the stabilizer instead of on my fabric?

    It seems to me that one would still need to back one's project with muslin in order to keep threads from showing through on light fabrics. Will that create any sort of problem that you can foresee?

    Hi Wendi, I am working on a quilt for a friend and Im going to be using hand embroidered quilt blocks for the quilt. I had a few questions. I am planning on using this new product The Magical Embroidery Stuff to transfer and stabilize, but my question is do I still need to put something behind my embroidered block to hide stitches since I am using white fabric? Also, should I pre-wash my fabric before embroidering? If so, what steps do you take to do that?

  • @WendiGratz
    @WendiGratz  11 лет назад

    No - it's only for inkjet printers or copy machines. I have a laser printer, so I print out a copy of my pattern on regular paper, then run it to the local library and copy it onto The Magical Embroidery Stuff.

    I'm not sure. I feel like the heat of the iron would interfere with the washability of the stabilizer. I'd transfer the image to your fabric like usual and stick the stabilizer on just as stabilizer. Or - if you're trying to avoid the permanent lines you get with the pattern transfer, maybe photocopy your design onto the stabilizer instead of heat transferring it. It's safe to run through a copy machine. Good luck!

    If the shirt I want to use this on is 93% Rayon and 7% Spandex/Elastane, will my stitching still look alright when it gets stretched across the chest upon being worn? It's a fitted shirt.

    • @WendiGratz
      @WendiGratz  6 лет назад +2

      It depends on how fitted the shirt is and how dense the stitching is. The stitching won't stretch, so if it's very densely stitched AND the shirt needs to stretch a lot to fit, then that might be a problem. But normal stitching on a normal-fitting shirt should do just fine.

    • @katbaleu
      @katbaleu 6 лет назад

      This is what I was wondering about as well. I'd love to use it on a tshirt to embroider which is very stretchy fabric. The design I want to use would be dense and the clothing would fit me loosely so I'm thinking it could work. Would you agree? Thanks for all this info. Very useful!!
