You know what the worst thing is for left handed people? It’s not scissors, or computer mouses, or pencil smudges or anything like that. It’s NOTEBOOKS. Those huge three ring binders and the spiral notebooks are impossible.
My mom was a left handed person, and she was forced to write with her right hand. She writes with her right hand, but chopping, sewing and all is done left hand. I'm very grateful I wasn't forced. I was asked to by the school, but my mother made sure that it did not happen. I'm grateful to her. 🥰🥰
Randomness 101 nah it’s more like 15% because quite a lot of people are ambidextrous but I count the ambidextrous people as whatever hand they used first unless if they’re born with it.

Being leftie in sports is always an advantage. As he said that in baseball, the same applies for soccer... a leftie NEVER misses a penalty kick. We are all so used to everything and everyone doing things from the right, and when we face a leftie, it completely catches us by surprise and kinda throws us "off balance"; I myself have experienced that a few times, and IT DOES work.

As a left-handed person, I was forced by my uncle as a child to use my right hand. When my mum found out, she was mad. I'm happy to be the only left-handed person in my family and almost everywhere because when I take out a pen to write, a lot of people are awed🥰

@@YashJadhav2011 in a lecture hall, there are rows of seats. So usually the last seat on the "left side" of the row, is a leftie table. It doesn't really matter so much now since everything is done on a laptop, but back in the day when students actually had to write, it would of made a work of difference. And according to statistics, if there is 400 students in a lecture hall, around 40 of them will be lefties. More than you would think!
The worst part about being left handed is that when you write in spiral notebook, the spiral gets in the way constantly. Also, when you write (left to right), ink and lead gets all over the side of your hand and also darkening the paper a bit too.
@@joeyshmoey6659 No because in either case the right handed person is moving their hand away from the letter they just wrote and not over them like left handed people have to.
Being a leftie I had to learn to use right-handed golf clubs growing up, but in Ireland we have a sport called hurling and because of playing this sport I learned to hit on both sides and as a result I can play golf with both sets of clubs (right and left handed). I also had to use right-handed objects like scissors so like most lefties I have become slightly ambidextrous. I was also led to believe that many left-handed people are more artistic and creative than normal and as a matter of fact I have noticed that a great majority of artists that I see working SEM to be fellow lefties. Long live the left-handed person , it used to be known as the "Devils hand" when I was growing up in Ireland.
Great comment! In 1975 the solution was to simply use right-handed golf clubs. My solution was to simply give up golf. Surprisingly, even bowling balls are drilled right- or left-handed.
When I was a child,I thought it happened to everyone even a right handed person and I'm really wondering why most of my classmates don't have a single ink on their hands, except for those who puts a drawing on their hands
I’m left handed, my grandmother is too. I was force to write right handed in school for years in elementary . I was the only student left handed in our small school system. Eventually they gave up because I just couldn’t write right handed. But still use some things right handed. My grandmother was my biggest help in life through all that 💕
Why? because their parents didn't correct them. Most left handed people learn to use their left hands be chance, it is not that their dominant hands are the left hands.

Before the ACT when filling out the form they ask if your left or right handed and they'll give you a left -handed desk. It's the only time I can think of when people thought of considering left handed people's needs. I hate when I draw in my sketchbook and the rings of the sketchbook gets in the way.:/
I'm a lefty. A few years ago in school I broke my left arm and was forced to use my right hand for most activities, and honestly looking back I'm not sure how I did it. But worst of all, I was taking Chinese. Dang near impossible to write Chinese characters with your non-dominant hand, I can tell you that. Thankfully my teacher was forgiving with my handwriting and still gave me an A by the end of the year 😅
I naturally do some things left handed and others right handed. I wasn't taught this, it just came naturally. I figured out that if a task took strength I used my right hand and if it took dexterity, I did it left handed.
Using your right hand for strength is pretty gauche, whereas being dextrous with your left is just sinister! (Sorry, just playing with words here - in fact I'm much the same as you in the handedness department.)
Same. I'm left handed. Draw, write, eat, throw, lift. But because right handed is more dominant in the qorld. I adapted to using tools used for right handed people. The mouse is the one that comes to mind. I can't remember other tools. But I had to learn to adapt a bit, because my brother and I were the only left handed out of 7 kids and two right handed parents. Also the only lefty in my so family.
I'm the same. I write and draw and do all detailed work with my left, but things that require more power, like throwing a ball, I do with my right. I also predominantly use my right with most tools like scissors, computer mouse, hammer, gripping power tools and so on...
duck duck - This is a major problem when writing in scripts that go left-to-right. Meanwhile lefties are at an advantage when writing in scripts that go right-to-left (e.g., Hebrew, Urdu) 😊

I’m a leftie. I’m also Asian. My parents and entire family forced me to be right handed bc it’s Witchery and demonic to be a leftie. My family got all teachers to force me to write with my right and I constantly got yelled at by everyone and bullied bc of it. Teachers yelled at me, classmates noticed, I got bullied. I got pushed around physically and emotionally at school and home. I never felt safe anywhere. I had no friends or family to ask for help. All bc I couldn’t change my left handedness. Don’t get me wrong - I tried my best but i struggled a lot. Detentions bc I couldn’t write properly and neat enough, teachers made me sit inside and made me hyper focus on my writing so much that I didn’t have time for any other subjects (I was always told that I needed to change my hand before I can do anything else) so u can already tell how I struggle with other subjects growing up (side note - on a happier tone, I started doing better in highschool). I’m about to be 26 and I still haven’t changed. Family means nothing to me (they were INSANELY abusive and I’m glad to escape out alive (without being so grim)…all bc I’m a leftie…I was always in the wrong in their eyes and everything I sucked at or failed at was due to my “demonic left hand and nature” 😂🙄 It took me until the age of 20 to know that it’s normal to be left or right handed. Like it doesn’t matter at all and there’s nothing “demonic” about it. I wish I could go back in time to tell my younger self it’s okay bc I felt so alone all this time.
My classmates keep forgetting that im left handed. Like theyre gonna ask "Omg. Are you left handed?". And then theyre gonna ask the same questionin the other day
I've been left-handed for the enirety of my life and have OUTRIGHT REFUSED to even try to change it, regardless of anyone's "suggestion". Not my parents, not my teachers, my grandparent (who had even tried to pay me to try), NOT ANYONE could change this! I've never felt the pressure, because it stopped before settling in, as I'm PROUD AND EVEN FEEL SUPERIOR (and not fearful to admit it) because of it! Even statistically, THIS IS A POWER! This IS special and whoever disagrees CAN'T offer any argument, just stereotypical bs! My left-handed fellows, WE ROCK! ;)
Throughout high school, I had atleast 5-10 lefties with me per class, with only 1-3 left handed armchairs available. It was always who got it first during first day that gets to keep the left handed chairs haha
right-handed who say "but the table is still same" definitely never hang their hand through the class, worse, I took exam using arm chairs once, 1 and half hour
as a left handed person who's being so used to right handed tools, I now find it awkward to use tools that are meant for lefties. Like an armchair for lefties, I feel uncomfortable using it😅. Also, it's hard to do something that's been started by a righty because of the angle like slicing 😂 edit: i get that some are confused by what I meant about armchair, actually it's what we call the desks here. However, desks on the other hand here in our country are those 2-seater wooden chairs with a little bit of a room under to put your things :)

You’re lucky. Think how alone I feel. I’m a lefty with no lefty siblings, parents or either set of grandparents. My aunts and uncles righties too. AND I am blue eyed (only 8% of world population) in a family of all brown eyes. But both my grandpas were blue eyed. So I’m pretty damn rare!
I competed in many combat sports. Being left handed is a huge advantage. But when Right handed people tried to teach me as a child they got frustrated with me and would make me feel like there was something wrong with me. But when it came to the actual fighting I would win with a surprising ease. I realized I needed to train myself in ways no one else could. I also did this in learning guitar. I find I make Right handed teachers mad at me... And now I realize their frustration is more about themselves not being able to do it left handed more so then me not being able to do it right handed. But they don't want to look bad so they usually look at me weird and try to make me feel like I don't know what I am doing.
I'm ambidextrous 👐 I've had people ask me if I'm a lefty or righty because I won't always use the same hand twice in a row. I do have some difficulty writing with my left hand 📝👋
I have always been asking this question that why more people are right handed, and what in the first place causes some people to be left handed, but now that I have watched your video and you used evolution and natural selection to explain it, it makes so much sense, thank you so much for the great explanation and reasoning :)
I always thought left handed people were cool and wanted to be like them as a kid 😂because everyone was right handed and being left handed was unique (in my opinion)
HEY YOU!! you're beautiful I'd hate to sound biased, but some of the lefties I know/knew were uninteresting and kind of jerks, while most of the cool people I've met were righties.
Same both my parents are right handed and both sets of my grandparents are too. My parents don’t know anybody in their family that’s left handed and yet, my 2 brothers and I are all left handed. It’s really strange

I’m left handed and left footed, but when it comes to sports where you swing a bat, club, stick etc, I’ve always naturally went right. But when it comes to throwing a ball, dribbling, or shooting a basketball I like my left. Being left handed in the public school system really sucked. Those little desks were meant for right handed people so I never had a place to wrest my arm while I was writing. My teachers could never understand why my hand writing sucked. I would always have notebook spirals indented into my hand or ink or pencil graphite smeared all over it. Binders were the worst. Scissors you have to just use them right handed and just accept a lesser grade usually.
I am a leftie and I hold mouse with my right hand easily, infact I find it difficult to hold it with my left hand, because of the design of the mouse(right click becomes left and vice versa)
it can be train i guess. im too used to writing and eating with my left hand when i was young. i always thought i was a left hand since then until i tried some hand activities like basketball and realize that right hand is my dominant hand. but then, i was born with a left master eye. Its a mess.
My mother is right handed, but my father was very Left handed, He would get cracked over the knuckles in school for picking up a pencil in his left hand, and I'm ambidextrous, but my other 4 brothers are right handed.
A good thing about being a lefty for me is that it constantly reminds me of how it feels to be minority. Growing up in a quite homogeneous rural community in Japan as a majority, I had rarely encountered difficulties in society which minorities might have -- except for being a lefty. Whenever I have a discussion about making inclusive society, I always remind myself of the inconveniences living as a lefty in a right-hand dominant world and sympathize with minorities in other fields. It's not necessarily easy for the majority to be aware of what kind of inconveniences and hardships minorities are going through until they become the minority themselves. I often talk about inconveniences that I feel as a lefty, and my right handed friends' reaction is always "oh I've never even thought about it because it worked totally fine for me". Being a lefty has been a life lesson for me to keep in mind, not to judge someone's struggles from the majority standard and think about what it truly means for society to be inclusive.
You're not wrong, I also think it has a bit of a flipside too. On the one hand you definitely are a minority. However the other minorities that you're talking about are also mostly right handed. So you can understand their plight, doesn't mean that most of them understand yours. It's not a bad thing in any way, just a bit of a reflection to injest I guess.
As a left handed person I can vouch that one of the most annoying aspects of being a leftie is when you’re writing a lot of information onto paper ( in exams etc) you can guarantee the pen or pencil will be smeared all over the side your hand by the end of it
I noticed the thumbnail is incorrect. the red prints are meant to be left hands, and blue, right hands. however, through observations, you can see it is the palm of the hand facing the screen. This means that the red prints are actually, RIGHT Hands, and vice versa for the blue prints.
Bruh! It has nothing to do with left handedness. You should improvise on your writing style. I've seen lefties with weird writing style or even the way of holding the pen.
Weirdly enough, as a lefty, I've always been better at writing on boards than paper.... Idk why.... I understand how counterintuitive that sounds, but that's me
You would have asked the reverse question if evolutionary process decided the otherway. So not logical to ask this question at all. Randomly right chosen, maybe in another planet left-handed people are the majority?
I’m a lefty and I’m always so grateful I wasn’t made to use my right hand. In school here in Scotland in the late 80s my brother and I were the only left handed people in our entire school of approximately 600 pupils. My father was left handed and my mother is right handed and myself and brother are left handed and our sister right handed. My husband and I are both left handed and have one son who is a lefty and one right handed. From the comments, I feel sad for a lot of you guys who were forced to write with your right hand. When I first joined school, my teacher, told my Mum that "Let him write with his left hand, left handed people are of great merit." It means a lot to me to have gotten this privilege while also being from a "Third world country."
i could write with both my lands still can sorta its alot worse then my right hand but i was force to use it in kindergarden. but at least i can still sorta spell things. but its like a kindergardener spelling it.

I think one of the things that happens, I'm sure if or how it effects evolution, is that a lot of left handers learn to use tools and devices designed for right handers with their right hand. There are also a lot of left handers that are almost completely ambidextrous.

The funny thing is that every left handed person I know have some of the best handwriting ever (number 1 spot by far goes to my grade 4 English teacher, you're impressive Mrs Mulholland)
So, my mom has this one story when I was young: When I was learning how to write, my teacher discovered I was left handed, so she called my mom to talk and the conversation goes something like this: Teacher: "So, your daughter is left handed and I never had a left handed student before. So, I think it's for the best we teach her how to write with her right hand". My amazing mom just looked at her and said: "Well, so you have your first student left handed, you can learn with her the best way to teach her and other left handed students in the future. She is left handed, why force her to use another hand?" and left. Since we didn't had further problems, I said in the school for a few years before I changed. The rest of my school life I never had problem for being left handed, the only issue I had were the arm chairs? Since all arm chairs were right handed, I created the habit to write sideways (like I can't have the paper in vertical, I need to put on horizontal so I can write properly). Just thinking about this today makes me wonder, what was so weird about being left handed? I just happen to be able to use the other hand, but it's weirdly funny how being left handed can be annoying. Like, taking out sandals, it can be kinda difficult sometimes to get it off :'D
aww that's cool! it's kinda sad cus my very asian parents taught me to use my right hand for everything since I was a baby, so now I basically have no idea how to use my left hand. And now my baby cousin is also left handed, and her parents are teaching her to use her right hand too. It's annoying and sometimes I feel robbed of my left handedness.
My Russian teacher tried teaching me to use my right hand, but my handwriting was so bad with my right, she gave up. The thing is, I always lived in the US where it is not required or a cultural thing to use your right hand to do anything. She tried getting me to use my right hand before consulting with my family. That kind of pissed my mom off a little cause left hands go back like five generations.
+Julian Yang I do too. :T That is why I always look for the notebooks with the binding on the top. That way, regardless of what side of the paper I am using, the bindings are not in my way.

Weirdly enough, as a lefty, I've always been better at writing on boards than paper.... Idk why.... I understand how counterintuitive that sounds, but that's me
No, the real question is: *_Why are most people right handed?_*
Exactly what I was thinking, why did evolution led to generating lefties to compete with righties and not the other wat round
Roli Verma why did evolution lead to handedness at all?
Im right
That’s right?
You would have asked the reverse question if evolutionary process decided the otherway. So not logical to ask this question at all. Randomly right chosen, maybe in another planet left-handed people are the majority?
This video made me feel like a rare species until I looked at the comments.
Right handed are actually rare in the comment section lol
It makes sense mostly lefty would be watching videos like this
Half of my immediate family is left handed .

My brother has one son who is left handed and one who is a righty and my sister has one lefty and one righty and both my brother and sisters partners are both right handed. I really enjoyed this video! Very informative
Your whole family is left handed...
I feel so special being left handed. I feel so nice about these comments i feel at home with my lefties!
Being a left handed person in school is hard even in gym :EDIT Stop being mean it's just mean of how your asking and being lefty is hard just because we can't be perfect people who are right handed doesn't know how being a left handed is.
Mia Griffiths how?
Mia Griffiths not really. i’m left handed and i get straight a’s.

From the comments, I feel sad for a lot of you guys who were forced to write with your right hand.
When I first joined school, my teacher, told my Mum that "Let him write with his left hand, left handed people are of great merit."
It means a lot to me to have gotten this privilege while also being from a "Third world country."
You were lucky indeed to have such a good teacher and you werent forced to write with your right hand even living in a third word country..
i could write with both my lands still can sorta its alot worse then my right hand but i was force to use it in kindergarden. but at least i can still sorta spell things. but its like a kindergardener spelling it.
i am in a third world country and everyone in my school (who is left handed) writes with their left hand
Same i love my teacher oml
Same!
I'm both right and left handed. I was forced to write with my right, but can write with my left, just not as fast. I can use hand tools with either hand. Played baseball righty, but hockey lefty. I can use a mouse with my left hand while taking notes with my right. I find it to be very helpful.
I'm annoyed cause I'm a leftie and sprained my left wrist, and my teacher saw the bandage and said "At least it's not your right hand" me:*facepalm*

You're.....not your
The real question is why my parents didn’t know I was left handed until I was 11
Who taught you how to write? Surely your parents didn't, since they would know about it when you're aged 11.

I think one of the things that happens, I'm sure if or how it effects evolution, is that a lot of left handers learn to use tools and devices designed for right handers with their right hand. There are also a lot of left handers that are almost completely ambidextrous.

you cab overcome this by turning the paper to the right side and moving your hand towards you.

When I was young, I thought being left handed was a 50% chance. I was shocked when I found out there was only around a 10% chance of happening.
Because you mixed up possibilities and probabilities. You could say: Next time I’m entering my room, either I will meet a lion or not. So there are 2 possibilities. But obviously there‘s not a 1/2=50% chance of meeting a lion in your house 😂

The worst thing about being left handed is hands down the writing, wether it’s with pen or pencil.
When u write with pencil leg goes ALL OVER YOUR HAND
When u use pen,ink smudges all over u and u can’t get it off for like two days!

Bad things about being a leftie:
1. When your sitting next to a righty in school and your elbows are constantly clashing
2. You cant use gel pens bc it will smudge everywhere
3. When your playing sports like hockey or golf and you will always be worse than your peers because the equipment isn’t ‘made for people like you’
Edit: I have never had this many likes before! Tysm!
Pretty much every pen smudges with me, barring sharpies...I do graphite art (pencil), talk about smudging and messed up hand! 😉
Edited to add they make lefty golf clubs.
@@charlottesmom I use pen I have no problem, might be because I am using ink pen. I am also a lefty.
When my husband played a lot of golf, he bought a set of left-handed clubs..... he told me that this helped him do better a lot when playing. He was an amateur boxer for awhile (before I met him), which he found to be not so great while in the ring.
You should have told Sam Snead, a natural lefty who played golf right handed.
Try the pilot g2 0.7. It’s amazing
The funny thing is that every left handed person I know have some of the best handwriting ever (number 1 spot by far goes to my grade 4 English teacher, you're impressive Mrs Mulholland)
So, my mom has this one story when I was young: When I was learning how to write, my teacher discovered I was left handed, so she called my mom to talk and the conversation goes something like this:
Teacher: "So, your daughter is left handed and I never had a left handed student before.
By miracle I managed adapt to "normal" benches even being left-handed, and for some reason I feel uncomfortable on left-handed benches now
I also write with the book sideways and people always think it weird. lol
@@SolaceInPrudence I'm also Asian but my parents don't force me and my sister to use our right hands😊
