No-Go Zones - Khayelitsha, South Africa: • No-Go Zones | Khayelit...
Jamaica: On the surface, it’s a tropical island paradise in the Caribbean. But, in spite of all the tranquility, Jamaica has one of the highest murder rates in the world. The reason: Ghettos! And the worst of all of them: Mountain View. Anyone who sets foot here risks their life. Deadly gun battles and gang wars are just part of the daily routine. The many small communities here are in a state of constant war.
The most infamous of all the gangs: South Clan! Drugs, alcohol, weapons. Everything always close at hand. The criminals make their money with contract killing, extortion, and kidnapping. Around five hundred people live in the South Clan community. Evil and his men say they protect the people here - from the bad guys. Their favorite weapons are the Glock nine millimeter, Beretta M-9 and the M-15 semiautomatic. All lightweight and deadly.
The Mountain View slum is a refuge for the poorest of the poor. Many seek solace in alcohol and marijuana. What rules here is primarily unemployment, miserable living conditions, hopelessness. Particularly for single mothers, there is usually only one way out: prostitution! Every day young women sell their bodies on the street.
A special police unit tries to end all this and to shut down the gangs. Four men notorious for their prowess. The special unit can't rely on any tips from ghetto residents. Because nobody talks here. There is only one language - which means don't talk, shoot!
Mountain View, Kingston is one of the most dangerous no-go zones in the world… Those who grow up here, barely stand a chance!

Wud ❤ to goto Jamaica jus for the cultures overs there and scenery there's good and bad wherever u go or live
The reason is the corupt government.
Try and make one about Lagos, Nigeria 🇳🇬
This looks so scripted it’s not even funny. BS
Every country has its own issues. Don’t let this documentary deter you from visiting Jamaica. It’s a beautiful country. I was there in 2018. I had so much fun.
Yep. I was in Ocho Rios and Kingston back in '03. We had a driver take us up through the Blue Ridge mountain pass and not to the stabby Jamaica.
Good and bad everywhere in this World there are some beautiful Jamaican People also 🇯🇲 🌍
Yeah.... I think everyone over the age of 14 understands that
It's always a white person making these documentaries. They never do the same in white communities or in European.

My heart breaks for Selena, she was so obviously really affected by her friends death, but had no choice to go out onto the same deadly streets, she seems like a nice woman too, but defenceless against any attacks or brutality. She was so obviously scared and worried, upsetting to watch. I hope that she found a way off the streets and is happier now, and her son is also happy.

Breaks my heart. I lived and still have family that live off Moutain View below the primary gang areas. I felt safe growing up there. These younger generation in their own words have 'no remorse' and no respect for lives. The average Jamiacan is just working and living their lives in peace. This is my home. Jamaica land we love. I am no stranger to this lifestyle, to this reality. But this documentary hit home in a very different way. Mountain View was once a beautiful, clean, and peaceful community. It was mostly a middle class area with beautiful homes. It's sad to see such a beautiful place become a war zone. I used to live down there. Ran into many dudes like this. All of them had the same thing in common. They came from extreme poverty. It’s like a disease.
Many Jamaicans moved to the UK in the 50s and 60s.
They're lives revolved around working where many took low paid jobs working 14-15 hours a day 6 days a week, family and church as many were God fearing.
Numerous of them went back to Jamaica to retire but found themselves fleeing back to the UK as they're homeland has become so lawless and terrifying.
Yup
They weren't the only ones working this hard, the working classes in the UK had it just as hard. At least they were given homes and free health care and education!
@@carriedudley8593 But this is about Jamaicans not the British.
@@carriedudley8593 Exactly, Briatin was built through hard work and people in extreme conditions. During the 1800s/1900s children had to work in factories unblocking machines with their hands and in many cases loosing them, men were often press ganged onto a ship against their will and made to work at sea in danger, slum housing in london had up to 14 people living in a few rooms, disease was rife and most worked several jobs taking up their entire life however there was no murdering and violence, no crime like we are seeing here, no weapons, so why is this??

I can't believe that I walked alone on the streets near this place (and Maxfield) as a tourist, not knowing anything about the gangs here. A rough looking local approached me and asked me where I was from but I thought that he was just being friendly. I guess ignorance is bliss! Right across the hill adjacent to this neighborhood is the University of West Indies, where Usain Bolt and Jamaica's world champion women sprinters practiced. Kingston is a rough city, with drugs and gangs, and with very few people on the streets. But the rest of Jamaica is peaceful, beautiful, and nice, especially the north shore, from Boston Beach to Montego Bay, where all the resorts are.
They're not interested in tourist, that brings heat from the authorities as its bad for business ( tourism) if foreign nationals get hurt or killed
But nobody troubled you right? That's because most people in all countries are good even if they look rough. Maybe that rough looking man that approached you might have been protecting you because he saw a danger that you didn't see because trust me HE KNEW YOU WERE A TOURIST!

The police are terrible in JA & Africa & most places all corrupt
From what is seen on this vid, their policing is a token effort.
They aren't going to catch people by strolling around alleys, and wanted criminals carrying weapons aren't going to be sitting by the side of the road when a cop car goes by.
The gangs let them do their token patrols without attack because they know the patrols are no threat to the gangs.
I've read that the police here have to buy their own equipement.
Heartbreaking and troubling at the same time. About 25 plus years ago, my next door neighbor, a mother, a father and their 12 year old girl, were slaughtered by nearby gangs in a retaliation killing. They murdered everyone and spared the two boys who were around 5 and 7 at the time. The same murders then came over to my mothers house and shot it up with some high powered guns because it was said someone opened the window and may have witnessed the murders. I thank God Almighty for protecting my family that night and for speaking to the heart of my mother the day before to changed the weaker door she had to a stronger one which prevented them from entering the house. Had it not been for that strong durable door she changed they would have gotten in and murdered everyone in there. These ruthless barbarians doesn’t value anyone else’s lives but theirs.

This doesn't just happen I'm the "ghetto". You have very nice neighborhoods that have the same activity. The only difference is, it's not plastered on the news or internet. Meth labs aren't the the ghetto. Klan members/gangsters don't meet in the ghetto, etc. Stop categorizing everything to be what the news, etc wants it to be. This stuff happens all over the world PERIOD! The person that first came up with the "stand your ground" thing. Wasn't from the ghetto nor was is actually pointed for the ghetto. It was originated for someone FROM a "nice & quite neighborhood, where nothing ever happens 🙄 ". Who broke in their neighbors home & did as they pleased. There's absolutely no such thing as a "nice & quite" neighborhood. There's ALWAYS someone who's gonna test that theory. Jamaica is NOT the only place in the world. Where ppl feel if You disrespect them it's a wrap! That's nationwide, don't disrespect certain ppl because everyone doesn't take that lightly, SIMPLE! There's a bigger gang with more weapons, artillery, more bodies under their belts, more victims, added to broken homes, added to drug infested neighborhoods, ETC. You know them guys that introduced crack cocaine, 🤔. They didn't live, visit, nor did they go anywhere near a "ghetto". Yet what they've done AND STILL DO isn't all over the news & internet. Some of y'all need to research & think about what y'all say BEFORE y'all say it. The ghetto WASN'T the "ghetto" in the beginning. Someone made it that way for 1 reason & 1 reason only. For ppl like You to call it the "ghetto" labeling a culture 🙄.

@Wane hite, it is this lack of concern for crime and poverty and denial because it does not affect you, is the reason that Jamaica remains vulnerable, poor and dangerous, especially to those born without a chance!
A tragedy when it caters only to the mainly White tourists and not to the thousands of gifted , underprivileged, underpaid poor and uneducated of the island .

It’s sad this goes on all over the world. I’m from LA and grew up in and around poverty as well as gang violence. I also just visited Jamaica 3 weeks ago and had a great time! I guess that’s why I felt home! The people were so nice to me and my family. Much respect to Jamaica!!!
You were on the resorts Thats why…..
I'm glad you enjoyed it and endorsed Jamaica. But in all seriousness - most residents in the slums of Jamaica would consider anywhere in LA a good upgrade.
@@Amidat 100% truth these non island people don’t know.
@@Amidat Isn't skid row in L.A? That's not a good upgrade. At least in Jamaica even if you don't have money you can get help from your neighbours or family or you can plant vegetables/fruits to consume and sell. There are multiple ways to survive in Jamaica without even having to worry about ending up homeless and without food.
True! People should check of ten worst neighborhoods in the states. Areas like where Katrina swept through. I think there’s at least one town in each state with poverty and tan down homes. America isn’t just LA & Miami, what’s depicted in movies/tv. RUclips shows the real stuff. I wonder if Jamaica has GED type programs? I know there’s no govt aide.

@D 3 ◇ Unfortunately, all the government cares about in Jamaica is protecting the lifestyles and living of the rich and their corruption and leave the poor and ghettoes underdeveloped. This keeps the island running and the White tourists coming.
"Loyalty is not the only thing, it is everything. No Matter How much real things you did, when you betray somebody all of that goes out the window.." 👌👌😎😎
So sad. People deserve to grow old, eat, smile, have kids etc. Too many people have power and don't use it responsibly which causes others to get hurt directly and indirectly.

Damn, I see the folks in the Comments are mad sensitive about their country... the documentary did not say "Jamaica" was a bad country. They said that a place called "Mountain View" was a very dangerous place. And if you follow this channel you will see that they do this with all countries around the world and even places in the United states. All they are doing is exploring the most dangerous places around the world and everywhere has them. No need to be so defensive. We all know Jamaica is beautiful.
Most people are ignorant, reading is not fundamental for most of em... Only pin point areas in Jamaica are bad,not the whole country.
I pray for this woman and child and his documentary and for the gangs dear God save their souls and bring their country back to a stable working environment in Jesus name I pray

💠The most dangerous gang💠Never even heard of this gang. These men certainly love the video light. This is just too scripted. I can just imagine how other gangs are going to compete to get their time on camera.
You know these guys are responsible for over 1500 deaths each year ?
Gunmen have been on a murderous rampage, killing at least 18 people over a 48-hour period on the weekend.
Seven of the murders occurred over an eight-hour period on Saturday, while 11 killings happened on Friday.
A two-year-old infant was shot and injured in one of the incidents.
The staggering two-day death toll comes amid tighter restrictions imposed by the Government to beat back an explosion of coronavirus deaths and infections.
Friday’s bloodletting started in Old Harbour, St Catherine, where citizens reportedly heard explosions and summoned the police, who found 41-year-old Ricardo Maragh lying face down, with what appeared to be a gunshot wound to the back of the head.
In another incident, Winston Mannings was standing at the intersection of Fleet and Tower streets, along with an 18-year-old female student and the two-year-old, when men armed with guns alighted from a motor vehicle and opened fire, killing Mannings and injuring the student and the infant.
On Saturday, a man visiting from the United States was shot and killed by unknown assailants along Mountain View Avenue in east Kingston about 4 p.m.
The other killings occurred in Savanna-la-Mar and Whithorn, Westmoreland.
An AFP correspondent saw a third truck arrive full of bullet-riddled corpses, including a baby, later in the day. A nurse said there were 12 bodies inside, and they came from a different area to the east of the city called Mountain View.
You saying this ain't real? 🤔
did you notice how many of them have tats? thats one of the trademark and although the streetgirls were covered with them, I couldnt see any on these guys
I thought these things were happening only in my home land Haiti I guess I was wrong. Now the question is how dirt poor people don't have access to food and water but have access to expensive weapons
That the million dollar question
It's Same thing that i always wonder about how can they afford to have expensive guns and living in such poverty 😔
politicians come on guys
Never thought of that question… i mean Evil has NY lingo so he was in America. Getting some hook up, but thats 1 person. This def politician type movement
Poor need to stay poor, every country has this even Canada.
I have such respect for police officers everywhere, the courage it takes is unbelievable and all citizens need protection against criminals. Corruption and poverty seem to go hand and hand. Amazing how the wealthy are sheltered and somehow feel above their fellow citizens in any country including here in the USA.
Police are often more a part of the problem than a part of the solution.
And not only in Jamaica.
@@musamusashiabsolutely 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
@musamusashi Yeah. I think when people say they distrust or dislike the police they gotta understand it isn't hate on the individual, but the gang that these police forces have become taint the individual into. If you ask me we need cops, but not for them to be armed to the teeth. Also, cops who rove highly dangerous areas need serious continous therapy to keep an eye and see where their heads are at. Also, they need to switch those patrols regularly enough that you don't end up with jumpy cops who have seen so much bloodshed that they have an itchy trigger finger. It's kind of like our boys in Vietnam. You sent these kids into a hellish stuation where they continously watched their friends die and then do it again if they survive. That's how you get situations like the Mai-Lai Massacre or our troops dehumanizing innocent citizens in the mid-east.
The Bigggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggest Gang in the WORLD are the POLICE!!!!! And Soldiers you might get a few good ones but they are all driven by the same Evil Government agenda. The government could easily invest in these areas but they choose not to for their political reasons . This is a common tactic used globally. Poverty of the mind breeds ignorance and ignorance breeds evil.....
Been there 6 times, got married there. My second home and hopefully where I'll retire. I love Jamaica. Take the bad with the good and thank God for small mercies.
Lol. I was born and raised there and scared shitless to move back because I feel unprotected. Why are you so comfortable?
@@melicah2479 ok I'll tell you this and I'm ashamed to say this even though it's true: I feel safer in Jamaica than the average Jamaican as I'm not a Jamaican. Despite all the 1000 plus murders a year, tourists aren't touched which is why I roam all over, no fear. Downtown, Trench Town, Spanish Town all on my own. I feel comfortable. You'll find me in halfway tree bud station getting on the buses like everyone else.I yearn for the day my Jamaican wife and other Jamaicans can be afforded the same treatment.
@@haddingtoniangcp2464 I’m embarrassed. A Caucasian man has more freedom than I can ever imagine having in the country where I am from but you are telling me something I already know. Have a great life.
@@melicah2479 if it makes you feel any better,I'm black. British citizen of African descent. Thing is, Jamaica relies on tourism for 50% of its economic turnover and can't afford to scare them off. This is why tourists flock down there despite the murder rate. What we need to do is bring in tough gun laws, change some some the soft touch sentences and take it from there. I want a peaceful, calm Jamaica and I'm not giving up. I really pla n to live there when I retire and I want to do it in an almost crime free Jamaica.
Lol let him keep walking up and down. I was born there too. That comfort is gon backfire one day😂
That lady who witnessed her friend get killed is majorly traumatised. And it's sad and depressing that she won't get the help she so obviously needs. As for these gangs....why defend turf you don't own? If you die you leave no turf as inheritance....why live like this?
I agree, but in their heads they do not think like that. You are right the areas they fight over was there before them and will be there when they are not even a memory. It is better to do something positive and live well than do negative and grasp at positives in a life of crime
That’s all they know - they have a choice though- because the money they make they can go and live elsewhere and live a different life - but l think secretly some of them enjoy the life style - For example Evil believes a gun is power - that’s sad 😞
