Smart move is to build one of the mini super smelter( 3:09 ) for all 3 types of furnaces(so you won't watse a bunch of fuel lol) then you build the larger one( 3:43 ) right next to those 3 so you can use the mini super smelter to smelt smaller amounts of items and you can use the larger one if you want to smelt mass amounts of items
One thing to note that I didn’t think about until I made the 8 furnace is that you will be losing out on all of that smelting XP. Nothing is as satisfying as coming home to a wall of furnaces you need to manually clear out and having those XP dings. That said, great tutorial and designs!
I love the snide remarks to spawned creatures like animals and wandering traders. So funny. Thanks for putting this out; I am enjoying this back to basics series, especially as a n00b player.
4:30 do 9. If you want a good size system. Because you can smelt a whole shulker full of sand/stone/cobble at the same time. It’s honestly worth doing just the extra one
Omg! This is a life saver! I was trying to make one of these but I couldn’t find out how to do the rails! This saved my life. You definitely deserve a pat on the back and a sub.
I typically build my super smelters with 27 furnaces. I find that perfect, especially if I'm using lava buckets for fuel, since thats the maximum a chest minecart can hold. It makes 1 pass use exactly that one chest load worth.
This is a simple version of the one I use on my worlds, I have a 4 portal gold farm, which filters the gold swords into my auto smelter, and when it detects that the chestcart is nearly full, or the loading chest is empty, the minecart goes off on its own. 100% automatic, but the design is kind of bulky, so I always tend to make it underground as I am not great at aesthetics and covering up redstone lol
A little tip: for fuel alternatives to coal, consider using wooden slabs. Yes, really, slabs. They are better than charcoal for fuel as one log turned into slabs smelts 12 items, whereas if you turn the log into charcoal, you can only smelt 8 items, and must also consume fuel to make the charcoal in the first place. Also, wooden slabs are more suited to smelting small numbers of items like 1-4. Given that coal or charcoal can smelt 8 items, then using slabs as fuel means you waste less of the fuel smelting items, assuming you don't put in a multiple of 8. This is helpful early-mid game, particularly if you're low on coal. The only disadvantages are that slabs take up lots of space if you want to smelt lots of things, but then for volume smelting a better fuel such as coal blocks or lava buckets is preferable. Also slabs have to be manually crafted whereas something like kelp can be farmed and automatically harvested, but then by that point you probably already have plenty of other fuels already. Finally at the very start of the game, don't forget you can cook food without any fuel consumption using a campfire - again very useful at your starter base if you don't have much coal or want to use it sparingly.
@@hookedbycrafting5348 a hopper under the campfire will cure that, although you may have enough coal or slabs to just use a normal furnace by that point
Very cool! I need this mixed with a forever lava farm, where somehow, it puts buckets of lava into the furnace for me. I have an iron farm already. I want to either build this and a lava farm next to the iron farm and connect them that way, or use a rail to bring iron from the iron farm to the lava and furnace farms. Anyway, I want all three connected and just running on their own. All I want to do is collect from the furnace to get the XP/mending and the smelted items with whatever tool needs mending at the time. Multiple furnaces would be great, but even just one is good enough for me, for now.
This is brilliant! I have put two more chests next to the one you have and have used a redstone and dropper system underneath to load the side boxes first. Next I am going underneath it to build an item sorter to sort these items into another room full of boxes....the amount of hoppers I am going to need!
I love the way you just "slapped together" some decorations for the last one. I'm getting better at designing builds and decorating them but I have a ways to go before I can do that. And yes, packed mud is soooooo cool 😁👍👍👍👍
Oh great detail to get the different cooking blocks into farms. I havnt really done a super smelter with smoker for food items I now have options on how hold them.Thank you!
My favorite furnace array got patched out. It used a zero-tick bamboo farm to automatically fuel the furnaces. It would turn on when the last furnace on each side would go under 64 bamboo and water flowing over ice would keep the bamboo going. Collection was done using a pair of hopper minecarts with automatic return. I might try doing the same but with a large automatic bamboo farm into mass collection sending into a dropper with the same water distribution system.
Nice, I appreciate the automatic minecart loaders - the basic principle of a supersmelter (hopper minecart over a line of smelters is simple, but automating the loading with redstone takes a bit more thought. It's really helpful if like me you don't haven't done as much of your own redstone, and also for people who are new.
Love it! I made one that you have to go to the back and the fuel pours into 2 and then on top yoi place the items and they pour into 2. Stacked 4 of these doubles next to each other. I think this is better. 😀
