    Thank you for the great video. Ernesto Perez-Carillo is such a charismatic person, I love to watch all his videos. And everyone is free to have his or her own opinion on how to cut or smoke a cigar, but personally I would rather look at the man himself who created these great cigars, when looking for maximum enjoyment!
    I'm very thankful that I have a chance to enjoy these marvellous cigars here in cold Finland too!

    I'ma have to stick to the master over some random in a comment section.
    What Ernesto Perez-Carrillo has done for cigars is more than I could even pretend to remember right now to even get into, but suffice it to say he shaped what we know as premium handmade cigars in more ways than one and for the better 💯

    • @MacClellandMan
      @MacClellandMan 5 лет назад +19

      Neither did Churchill regularly (ever?) smoke torpedos- which cannot be pierced with a match. Churchill also used to run a reamer down the middle of the cigar to make the draw very open. So what's the point?

    I would say that cutting that much off of a Torpedo is a waste. It will ruin the flavor, the flow path, the aroma even will not be the same. Having the tube of the cigar tighten at the end of the cap of a Torpedo if properly cut like any other cigar, being that you only cut behind the edge of the cap, ensures that the Torpedo will be enjoyed how it is supposed to. To me that is, every man is free to enjoy his stick how he likes.

    Torpedos are made for V cuts… can’t believe he did that

    • @VP_A-Team
      @VP_A-Team Год назад +1

      Absolutely, can't believe he did that. He just cut off the part of the construction that accounts for the extra ~15% of production cost and the part that requires only the most skilled torcedors to roll.
      They are not rolled that way to look 'fancy'. The point of a Torpedo shape is to deliver more concentrated flavors to the palate, achieved by channeling the smoke through the point of the cigar. Because most Torpedo cigars (more accurately, Figurados - 'shaped' but all with tapers) are a wider ring gauge, this gives the blender the space to mix a wider variety (and larger quantity) of tobaccos, resulting in deeper layers of complexity.
      I occasionally use a V cut (certain brands if a straight cut is too hard of a draw or is a certain strength), but I prefer a straight cut, partly for a more concentrated draw but mostly because I like the shape better in my mouth. Depending on the taper, I'll usually straight-cut to no more than half the diameter of the body.
      My wife does the same as well, but will V-cut different brands as I do.

    I have a collection I keep to the left of the toilet in my basement, unfortunately the misses doesn’t like seeing the treegars out in a public part of the house. No worries, I just put on the latest Harry Styles album and stare at my cool picture of Mao and smoke my Treegar.
