    My husband came up with the idea of a foraging box! We took the tops off of an empty Amazon package box, lined the bottom with add paper, and sprinkled the bottom it with crumpled paper and food. He loves getting in there but popping up over the sides to see us!

    It looks like the only thing we can get here besides nutriberries and popcorn is oat sprays so I’m definitely going to give those a try and also I have the mini cobs from Vitakraft that I pop for them and then tie to their cages. I also feed them popcorn by hand so we eat it together but making a toy from it is also a great idea!

    I was talking to my friend about the northern parrot popcorn and I really think my birds would like it cuz it's crunchy and much more she said "You can give them any Popcorn I give my cocktails Popcorn what's in the bag" I did say that I do doubt that is safe for birds but she sounded so sure that it's fine for them and she's been feeding it so many times to her birds (the bag Popcorn). I am happy that now I know that it's not safe as I could not find any info about that and she really badly wanted me try with my birds the bag Popcorn - I'm so relieved I didn't. Xxx

    I just bought my cockatiel 3 days ago and it’s pretty much my first bird to take care of and it isn’t tame at all like any time I just try to put my hand in the cage it’ll try to bite me and I don’t want to get bit hard but I’m at a point where I’m kinda suck because I don’t want to do anything traumatic to it but also I want to get it used to my hand

    Hello Sophie! I've just found your channel as I'm hoping to bring home a Conure soon! I previously had a Hahn's macaw who sadly passed away in Feb and I wanted to ask a question about the cage!! I have disassembled the cage and thoroughly cleaned it but I have noticed some spots that have rusted! I've only had the cage for around 8 months and wanted to know how you deal with rust on your cages :) any advice would be appreciated thank you

    • @BirdNerdSophie
      @BirdNerdSophie  2 месяца назад +1

      I’m sorry to hear about your macaw 🫂 it depends on the level of rust but I personally replace cages at that point! Some people have tried to restore and repair but I’ve never tried!

      @@BirdNerdSophie Thank you for your reply 😁 I don't think it's too bad as it's mostly in the crevices from when Charlie would splash water out - I'll have to have a good think about it! If I do get a new cage I'll definitely upgrade to the cage you recommend with your Conures!

    Thanks for your video I really enjoyed it! Def incorporating some of those ideas for my foraging rotation from now on!
    I know its not related to this video but I couldnt really find any info on other websites and your other videos, so here it is: I have a montana Sydney cage || for my two lovebirds and i really want to give them a more natural cage environment by covering the sides and back of their cage so they feel more secure. I dont have any clue on what i could use and what holds the best for that, especially to fix on the grid of the cage safely and also be clean-able. Do you maybe have some recommendations or insight?
    Also if there are any recommendations on how to incorporate substrate with the weird montana cage design i would really really appreciate that too.
    Sorry for the long comment and thank you again for all the information you share

    • @BirdNerdSophie
      @BirdNerdSophie  2 месяца назад

      Hey! I personally wouldn't cover the back and sides with anything as it could trigger hormonal behaviour! You could do just one side with seagrass mats if you wanted to!
      For the base, you can wither take out the bars and slide the trays in the same slot, or if that doesn't work, you could put trays on top of the bars for foraging with substrate!

    • @duniaundso6649

      Thanks a lot for your reply, i appreciate it!:)
      Ah okay, my vet actually recommended it so thats where the thought came from. I will see about covering the back with a mat tho, it sounds like a good idea.
      Yeah the tray thing doesnt work on montana cages:((
      I did take the grit thing out and cover the gaps with carton though today and fixed it with sisal rope for now. Bought a substrate too and put it in and seeing how it goes! Thanks again❤

    How do u keep cage n wall clean of poop. My birds are not tame so its v hard to do a full clean. Do u advise puppy pads in the cage bottom

    • @BirdNerdSophie
      @BirdNerdSophie  2 месяца назад +1

      Deffo not puppy pads! We use a substrate called easichick - we spot clean twice a day and full clean once a week!

    • @Anna-px9bd
      @Anna-px9bd 2 месяца назад +1

      I use easibed. It works really well it's biodegradable, dust free and so much more! The funny thing is I went to my bird store and was supposed to get easichick, when I came home I realised it was Easibed it's 20kg so it will take a while for me to use it all and swope to easichick 🤣😂I clean my birds cage once a week fully! I used to use newspaper and honestly it was the hardest thing ever to clean i don't know why! X
