I love hearing myths being debunked. Thank you both for addressing these topics that we hear about maybe through the grape vine of social media and take as fact. To have someone as knowledgeable about the science behind these foods and the importance of them on our birds health is priceless.
It's always a joy to pick Jason's brain on all things diet to get accurate information out there!
You guys should start a podcast! That would be so interesting to listen to while cleaning 😂
That would be fun but I don't think I could find the time for it! Plus the best parrot podcast out there is hosted by @poodlesandparrots 😊
I'm loving this series so much!
Glad you’re enjoying it 🥰
Agreed! It’s fantastic
Salutations a tous et les oiseaux intelligents et jolies!! Merci pour la belle video toujours! Bon weekend a tous! 😊👍👍👍🐦🐦😘😘🍀☕
Merci beaucoup 🥰💙🦜
I'm enjoying theses COLLABS so much! My birds enjoy lemon in their water but I only put it in once every week or if that.
Glad you're enjoying them! 😊
Really appreciate the information. I got a pearly conure a week back and I am taking lot of your content for knowledge. Btw. Pearly conure are extremely LOW noise making bird . Lower than green cheeks . For those who family members don't like bird screeching on regular basis may consider it .
Thanks for watching 😊
Thank you for this clarification, Sophie and Dr. Crean.❤
Our pleasure! 😊
I'm defiantly trying oranges with my birds! Sure they would enjoy it! Xx
Let me know what they think!
I've just bought my new baby green cheek home, love watching all your videos, I'm not sure how long to let her settle before starting to interact physically, she was hand reared and was hatched on 24th March this year
Get involved straight away. This 'settle in' business is a myth. If your bird is not tame, start touch training through cage bars. Otherwise, if you are an experienced bird owner, I suggest you do Sophie's Best Behaved new bird owners course. It is not very expensive, and believe me, I wish I'd done it years ago. It will save you from a lot of worrying.
@idahoe7581 thank you, I have been target training through bars which she is doing very well and gets rewarded for gentle touches, it's just skin mainly anywhere on my hand when she's out of the cage, she just wants to sit on me, she preens and beak grinds and has slept on me so it doesn't seem to be stress, I'll ask to see I would find it more useful than perhaps having a 1-1 if and as needed 😀
fascinating and interesting video. Thank you for this!! I learnt a lot!!
Really glad you enjoyed it 🥰
As always awesome info, thank you
Glad you enjoyed it 🥰
Sophie I love your videos,, could you please make one for harnesses? I bought both avian fashion and leathersforfeathers. I still didn't get them but I intend to use them if we ever go out the house.
Hey! None of our are harness trained at the moment so maybe in the future, but Flock Talk has a great tutorial on here for it! 😊
@@BirdNerdSophie Thank you Sophie, I'll check it out now 😊
The only thing Sophie is that great list you mentioned of safe and toxic foods doesn't have an author name on it. I'd love to see everyone have it but it would be better with an author name.
The author has some more information about themselves on the website!
Great video! Another myth bites the dust
another myth bites the dust. ts ts
Glad you liked it 😊
Awesome, so we also remove any tomato seeds?
No the seeds within the tomato flesh are perfectly safe! It’s the green vines and leaves that aren’t safe!
@@BirdNerdSophie oh, that’s great! I was picking them out!
I still won't feed them to my birds because I'd rather be in the super safe side just in case, but great video!
You certainly don't have to include them in your bird's diet as there's lots of other things to offer, but there's no harm in offering if you want to! 😊
I read up tomatos were toxic list so never gave them I would of never thought oranges are ok
But do be careful with feeding orange and lemon peels if they are not organic, as they often have pesticides on the peel. As a general rule, you should only be feeding them organic fruits and veggies. And unripe green tomatoes are not safe, as mentioned in the video, because they are nightshades.
It really depends on what country you're in! Non organic produce is perfectly safe to offer in the UK! Zoo animals certainly aren't being fed organic produce! But if you can afford and have access to organic process then go for it!
