- Tomatoes are easy to grow.
Did you know that 1 tomato seed will produce 30 tomatoes?
How to Grow Tomatoes from Seed?
Save seeds from last year's harvest.
Plant them in moist soil 1 cm deep.
The first tomato plants will appear after 2 weeks.
After 1 month, tomato seedlings are ready for transplanting.
To reduce the shock, water them before transplanting.
Dig a hole, 20 cm deep, in cultivated soft soil.
Add organic fertilizer: sheep manure and compost.
Add ground eggshells - tomatoes love calcium!!!
Plant the tomato plant as deep as possible to develop a large root system.
In the end, water it abundantly and do not water it for the next 10 days, this encourages deep-root growth.
-Tomatoes grow vertically and need support.
Cultivate the ground around them and make channels for easy watering.
Water abundantly once a week during the summer.
After 2 months from planting, they will begin to ripen. The taste of homegrown organic tomatoes is indescribable!!!

4 months ago, I took a tomato from my fridge and planted those seed in soil. I then transplanted those plants and now all my 6 tomato plants are bearing fruits 😇.
I also have musk melon 🍈 plants in my back yard..... The taste of self grown fruits and vegetables really hits hard..... Love your work ❤🇮🇳
Did you use the normal ones ama ya duka
I have cherry tomatoes in the front yard and watermelon growing in the back. I hope the melons turn out as well as the tomatoes have!!!
Homegrown tomatoes actually havea great taste unlike store bought.
True, if you can get them to grow in the first place.
True, if you can get them to grow in the first place.
Same with strawbrrries
Yep probably because we let them ripe on plant
This sounds like recommendations for a cool climate though. Definitely research your zone !!! If I water my tomatoes once a week in my 35-40 degree Celsius abruzzese Summer heat, they Will die. My seeds popped up in 5-7 days. Again, research your zone.
Love the tunes!!😂
You know it would be nice to know how to store the seeds. And thanks.😊
I store them in a dark cool place
Personally I got the seeds immediately from bought tomatoes and put it almost immediately in soil, and now it is growing not perfectly but good enough
I found calcium cheap, I used diatomaceous earth oil absorbant that I found at orilies auto parts. If I remember correctly its 19% calcium, I have sandy soils so I buy that and clay absorbant to mix in the soil when I amend it.
Looking at the video and comments and I have to say: there are so many factors of tomato planting I didn't even realize😯
First timer doing 3x orange hat 6x Cherokee purple 6x blue beauties and 4 black beauties! Also doing 7 wildflower mixes and 8 other types of flowers 2x cucumbers, rosemary, 7 bell pepper plants, tootache plant, alpine strawberries and 2x lemon drop watermelons… oh and started a fig tree and planning on getting a meyer lemon tree… all I want to do is grow stuff now 🤪 gotta figure out how to build supports and how to prune… out of $ for now lmao
Come back in a couple months and keep us updated! Fig tree sounds awesome!
First timer same bro good luck
I just started today. How is it going for you now? I would love to hear
@@gareonconley1956 I got 1-2 of nearly each thing I tried… but line trees slowly killed everything. Thought I was gonna get a 2nd watermelon but woke up this morning and a limb had busted it

And don’t water the leaves they don’t like that apparently for tomatoes
Really??? What about RAIN??
@@AzarAzoshthe reason is that
if we water the plant while the sun is high
it can cause a mini magnifying glass that can burn the leaves
but with rain it's not a problem
and the water pattern of watering can/hose is different than natural rain drop (except if hose have rain option)
but also rain can be destructive if it happens oftenly since moist and heat are the breeding grounds of fungus
so avoid watering tomato leaves
and build a greenhouse to prevent fungus due to rain
@@azander1958 Go fishing. Useless, , false knowledge. WHY RAIN IS DIFFERENT THAN WATERING????? Same "magnifying glass". Sun after rain. Common sense.
@@AzarAzosh rainwater droplets are different than watering droplets
Also it tends to be shady after a rain compared to watering under the sun when it comes the "magnifying"
When it comes to Fungus
Both Rain and Watering can make a hot humid environment for the Fungus to grow in so Watering Plants in general at the Leaves is not appropriate and should be Avoidable
@@AzarAzoshbro, rain causes a multitude of issues if you get too much rain. Ive had it done to one of my crops before because i didnt know this about them at the time. But they most definitely do get diseases and harbinge bacteria due to overwatering the leafs.
Bro prune those lower leaves otherwise they will carry diseases on tomato
All my tomatoes are dying, well all but two. Pretty bummed out but its my first year gardening. Yet, I refuse to give up. I more or less know all the mistakes I made so im hoping next year will be much better. On the flip side, my watermelons, figs, mulberries and pomegranates are doing excellent.
Tomatoes are more fragile than other vegetables, they are often attacked by diseases, especially if it rains very often. That's why it's good to have enough space between them, and the lower part with leaves removed to have more ventilation. You can try spraying them with chamomile tea or a solution of baking soda and a little natural soap. These home remedies work against rot and infections.
Don’t give up I’ve been at this 3 years and I get better every year
Tomato’s are literally like the beginners garden plant. Get a large pot put soul and some vegetable miracle grow in there and give it like half shade half sun during the day. Adjust that ratio depending on how hot your area is. The do will with lots of water. I promise they are the easiest plant. I set them and forget them. They work just as well in the ground. They are a vine plant so give them something to climb on. Every part of the stem can make roots. When you transplant seedlings you can bury the stem deeper and it will make more roots. And y’all don’t need to cut off branches. It’s such a myth that you get more if you take suckers off. Those suckers will grow more fruit.
Try cherry tomatoes. They are resilient and delicious! Plus you can get up to 80-100 on some plants 👍🏼
What are those mistakes
Thanks
Did you make the support u used to prop the tomatoe up with a n how u made it
With a simple wooden stake, I've had them for over 10 years and they still last
Nice. Thank you.

Awesome
thanks foe sharing
Do i have to move the seedlings after a month or can i just keep them where they are?
Who transplants a directly sown seedling? Ripping it out of the ground (and damaging the root system) only to move it to a different spot somewhere else in the ground?
I just bought and killed all my tomatoes plants in one week.
I loved them to death ❤… They never made it to a pot😢
😅 I just bought one today for my toddler knowing good and well this may be its fate. 😂
If it’s warm or you have a heat mat they sprout real quick like 5 days
what a good guide

That is amazing and tasty
Nice brooo❤❤❤❤
Does anyone know if fertiliser is necessary with growing these tomatoes? I know he said compost but what about fertiliser?
What month should you sow them ?
End of winter, or start indoors last month of winter
My beefsteak tomato has a lot of white fly pest. Oredy tried liquid soap, herbs like ginger, turmeric, garlic, but none of them works. How to kill those pest?
Wow super👌
Ive got baby tomato plants starting indoors rn. Theyre about 3 inches tall with 2 to 4 leaves. But my beans are like a foot tall! How do i help them grow
Tuyệt vời ạ❤❤❤

What happens if I plant it In a big container and leave it there, will it not grow as much as with the transplant?
How often we should give water to tomato plant ?
Once to twice a week abundantly. Tomatoes love water.
@@OrganicGardenTherapy not every day right ?
@@Preeti.172 No. You can only water cucumbers every day. Tomatoes are fragile and prone to diseases, if you water them every day, there is a high probability that they will get some disease, start to rot, etc.
@@OrganicGardenTherapy thanks
@@leopardsky if in pot than ?
On the tomatoes black spots coming..how it will gone
Any non-animal fertilizer to replace egg shells?
CaSO4
I never liked tomatos till I grew my own.
If we dint water for 10 days do it will die
So it takes 3 months to bear fruit? And its cheaper than cauliflower, also 3 months.
Nice❤
How to protect them from mealy or any other insects 😢😢😢
Oh so easy. Not in the Texas hill country 😢
Can I use cow manure if I don't have the organic fertiliser
Yes but don't use it until it has sat for a while. You don't want to use fresh manure. Do some research to figure out how long to wait!
Wow
TOMATOES LOVE CALCIUM
What seeds should I get?
when you say abundantly, what do you mean?
A bunch
Ive had my tomato plant for a year now. It’ll only grow small tomatoes. And the seeds were from big tomatoes.
I think logic just decided to make a change i guess-
If you planted store brought tomato's seed, it was most likely a hybrid, so it won't grow true to seed. I recommend buying a seed packet next year instead.
I have the same thing happen. Save the seeds from big tomatoes in the store, plant them and they don't grow well.
They must be genetically rigged.
@@chloeguo9015it's all guess work.
@@sarahannajuhasz8727even so called good seeds are not good.
I'm going to write a letter of complaint to seed sellers.
Tomatoes are easy to grow ? Not for everyone.
I've been trying to grow them for the past 30 years. You'd think I would give up. But each year, I give it a try.
2 years ago, I got a green house. Still can't grow them.
I wish an expert would come over, tell me what to do and at the end of the season I would invite him back over and show him nothing grew.
I have a green thumb for other plants. I'm very successful with citrus. Either from seeds or cuttings. Wackytobacy is easy to grow from seed. I finally have a good grow of lemon grass.
I'm 65, hope I can figure it out before I kick the bucket.
If you can grow wacky you can grow tomatoes. Biggest problem usually isn't fertilizer it's over watering - tomatoes don't like to be in constantly damp soil. I try to water only once a week during the summer if I can.
@@mtaylor6745 I think it's too hot where I live to grow tomatoes.
I'm really stumped and baffled.
@@mtaylor6745 Is fertiliser necessary for tomatoes?

Please read all of this😊 God bless them and all of you reading this. Give your lives to Christ because He died on the cross, rose from the dead on the third day and is sitting at God’s right side in heaven. He did all this so that we could be forgiven our sins and have eternal life with God in Heaven. We are free but don’t use your freedom to indulge in unnecessary things and sins. We are made free to have faith in God and God so loves us. Never forget that God is for you, He will not leave you not forsake you. God knows your heart, so trust in Him with all of your heart. God is worth it. I love you all and so do God❤️
Amen
This only works for heirloom tomatoes, hybrids will not grow true to seed
❤❤❤
How fo I deal with plague and pests. Theres been like 70 little baby caterpillars on my tomatoes and they wont go away.
Blend hot chili peppers and water, strain it well and spray the plants. Be careful not to splash it in your eyes, this is very powerful
@@OrganicGardenTherapy Thank you, will try this later.
Look up DIY pest spray using liquid soap (washing liquid) The soapy water gets in their mouths and they drown. It’s all online these days.
You should also get a net for covering the plants for next year.
Pyrethrins, green clean (citric acid rubbing alcohol mix), and neem oil are the only things i use. Neem only for if the other two dont work.
@@notallowedtobehonest2539 What's the mixture you use? I have the same problem here in my village in Greece.
If you like agriculture give me like
Where to buy organic tomatoes to save seeds? I don’t trust local grocery store tomatoes if they are really organic.
Nah not in S. Flo in summer time to 🥵 hot . November to April is 👍 ok!
And if you grow in the greenhouse don’t forget to tickle your flowers . 😂, seriously though it’s to pollinate your plants. It’s what bees usually do out in the garden.
Nive ❤🎉
The yeehaws 🎉🎉😅
I don’t like tomatoes, except the ones from my garden, beef steak, Cherokee purple…..😋. And yes, save your seeds and save money. You can grow them in pots or in the ground. The egg shell or oyster shell contains calcium and keeps “blossom end rot” away.
The whole " water once every 7-10 days " thing will kill your tomatoes
Here in Texas ive been watering every 3 days at most. I have a spot i dig into to check for moisture levels of the soil and within 3 days it is still completely dry.
Planted plants around 45 days ago and already getting big Goliath tomatoes growing.
I have a tomato plant in a little plastic pot and it’s grown high, I want to plan in ground so I just need some fertilizer and egg shells?
If it's Fall where you are, as it is here, you don't want to plant it outside because it will likely freeze to death. General rule I believe is plant 3 weeks after any danger of frost. The experts say egg shells on their own don't do much. Great compost material tho. There are many ways to get an extra boost of calcium like bone meal or oyster shell. Check out Jeremy at Build a Soil on RUclips!
Can someone explain side-shoots to me?
In the "armits" of the main stem you will see shoots coming off at like a 45° angle. They're called suckers.
Yeeeee haaa
save
Tomatoes split if you give them too much water
I get way more than 30 tomatoes
Do Not... bury them deep... just so the roots Are barely unter soil...
Any extra seeds to give away
Are you trying to find some that will grow ? So am I.
@jesse75 rather have good Good seeds vs bad
@@Gokywildcats11 I still haven't found any good seeds.
I live in NorCal. This year when tomato growers first put small plants in the ground, I'm going to dig up a few and bring them home.
In the past, I have used seeds from those industrial roma tomatoes and never got anything from them.
This year I'm digging up some plants. If they don't grow I'm done.
I'm tired of trying.
I just don't get it.
Tf is that music

Tomatoes aren't easy at all, there are many desieses that screw them over and its of course easy when you only have a small garden and its not your income.
Seriously? We have so much words we've carefully crafted over hundreds of years, there's one for every single thing or feeling and you're too illiterate to find one that can describe it??????
Tomatoe growing in flooded soil like rice? Boy you crazy.
I’m sorry? Don’t water it for the ten days? 🤣

but the question i have is this:
Can you simply put a tomato in the ground, and will it grow?
