      Man I am an Ohio State fan. Got back from Iraq just in time for fir the game, and came home to a RUclips inbox full of hate mail from Gator fans. Due to a comment in which I congratulated Florida on their win that got them in.
      Pretty much the same before I left for afghanistan in 08.
      Commented on an LSU video that I thought Matt Flynn was much better than Ryan Peraloux. Instantly inbox filled with hate messages.
      I watched a lot of college football. Win some lose some. I don’t live and die or live vicariously through sports teams like a lot of people do.
      Just so funny how they all said Ohio Stare fans attacked them, but that’s not how it was entirely.
      Anyways happy you got to experience that before you deployed$

      +sublime94 That's not targeting...what else is he supposed to do in a situation where the corner gets beat? NOT hit him? Back then there wasn't a rule against leading with your helmet. It's kind of his job to hit receivers....he's a fucking safety you moron.

    • @sublime94
      @sublime94 8 лет назад +6

      +Leonardo Aldecocea Well, for one, he hit him before he even touched the ball. Pass interference. Two, he led with his helmet and hit the defenseless receiver in the neck. Targeting was a penalty then and it has been for many years, the only thing that changed in 2013 was that ejection from the game became mandatory, even if targeting was in question. It is his job to hit receivers, but its also his job as a human being not to kill other athletes because he couldn't make it to the scene on time for a proper defensive play. Stay classy, Gator fans. You can throw away those Hernandez jerseys now.

    • @GrandKai23

      +sublime94 he hit him at the same time the ball got there. even in slow motion it was hard to see what came first. Either way refs didnt call it, because it was a clean normal football play. Great game by the Gators defense -- making the Sooners come up empty twice near the goal line, and blocking a field goal. Came here to watch Tebow and Harvin -- and it was fun to watch them do their thing again -- but the one thing I really noticed was how the D made things tough for Bradford & Co. all night long.

      CB real, UF was the better team, as the gators didn't even play that great, yet the OU Sooners played the best game of their whole season against the National Champion Florida Gators. The Gators kept it close due to poor play. I was expecting a 50 point to 14 point blow out with UF playing its 2 and 3 rd stringers by half time.

    • @cbreal5469
      @cbreal5469 5 лет назад +1

      @@johnjarjoura889 they got away with a lot of holding and PI. OU's best game of the year? They were scoring 38 points per game, back when the big 12 played great defense. OU also had a great defense that year. The teams were evenly matched, but OU had the better offense. Referrers were not gonna let a Big 12 team run up the score on the SEC. ESPN would have thrown a fit about it.

      CB real, sounds like you still think OU was a better team, last time OU won a Natty was against FSU. Big Game Bob won two Natty's, one Natty with UF against FSU, one Natty with OU against FSU.
      This OU team could play this UF team 100 times in a row, might win 1 game.

    I have never seen a team underachieve like Oklahoma. to be honest if Miami played Oklahoma in the Orange Bowl in 2000. Bob Stoops would still be searching for his 1st national title.

    • @wilmothg
      @wilmothg 8 лет назад

      +Allen Greene Don't think so with the first part of your argument. FSU had just as explosive O as Miami. OU had great defensive play as teams had learned to defend their Off. On the second part, of course that could've happened. Miami shouldn't have lost to a MOR team like Washington and this discussion would be fiction as they would have settles it on the field.
      As for the BCS tile game losses, only the one seemed like a mismatch. And early (unforced) erors put OU in a hole they could not get out of (2005, USC) and USC played fucking lights out. Games like that happen all the time.
      As for underachieving, I agree with you to a
      point. But you can't make it there as often being average. On a whole, they have both over and under achieved in seasons....but have been a consistently powerhouse program.

    • @allengreene9954
      @allengreene9954 8 лет назад

      +Gregory Wilmoth Washington was very good in 2000 though. and yes Oklahoma is one of the most storied, successful Football programs of all time. although they should have more than just one national title under Stoops. 03 they were good but LSU was much more physical. 04 Southern California was just too much. they were one of the greatest teams off all time. regardless of the sanctions against them. but in 08, in the redzone like 5 times and had only 2 touchdowns?? that's awful.

    • @allengreene9954
      @allengreene9954 8 лет назад

      +Gregory Wilmoth I mean Florida was a great but they weren't invincible. but to be honest it's bad for College Football when Oklahoma is not competing for national championships. also Texas. because the Big 12 was the best conference in the country at the time and didn't come away with one national title.

    • @wilmothg
      @wilmothg 8 лет назад

      +Allen Greene UR right. OU had a chance to kinda open that first half up. I was highly disappointed. We all knew the LSU game would be a brawl, nad the pick 6 early in the 3rd on OUr own 10 was it...made a big difference. OU actually strating control of that game late 3rd and into the 4th and just ran out of time.
      I WILL SAY....all teams involved in 2003 and 2008 were very evenly matched and I hate when idiots claim that LSU and Fla "dominated" OU. Not the two games I watched.

In my opinion if percy would have came back his senior year against bama we would have won and not being smoked 32 to 13. Imagine if dan Mullen came back in 09 and percy coming back that would have been awesome. I think after watching this game (and this replay again) it’s pretty obvious UT (the team who should have actually played Florida) would have had a really good chance at beating Florida. UT beat OU by 10. Florida beat OU by 10. Would have been great. But man that UT team was built to stop a team just like Florida. Brian Orakpo on one end. Sergio Kindle at the other. #6 in the nation against the run. Guys like Earl Thomas and Aaron Williams on the back end. A top 20 rushing offense that could have kept Tebow off the field. What a shame. And then the next year Texas was all over Bama but Colt goes down on the 1st series. Texas intercepted a fake punt called by Bama. Recovered a muffed kickoff. Had sacked Bamas QB 3 or 4 times early. The defense was so hyped. Texas led 6-0 at the end of the 1st until The defense just couldn’t hold anymore Bc Garrett Gilbert couldn’t get a first down. What bad luck. Man that was rough for Colt McCoy and Mack Brown. It sounds like a homer comment but honestly Texas could have easily won back to back titles.

He makes great points. And Texas had a great offense too. A lot of speed like Florida. They had their own Harvin in Marquise Goodwin. And Colt should have won the Heisman that year. Before I say anything, keep in mind that I am a sooner fan. We have 17 national championship appearances, 7 national championships, 44 conference championships, 154 All American athletes, 7 Hall-of-Fame Athletes, and 5 Heisman Trophy winners in our over 100 year history. That's our history. We've always been a powerhouse football program. But, I agree with a lot of people saying this. Oklahoma IS NOT a #1 team. That's just how we go by. We kick the shit out of everyone as long as we don't develop the mindset "I'm going to beat you because we're number one in the nation". But rather "I'm going to beat you because we're a kickass football program and we beat teams way better than yours". What seems to be the case for Oklahoma is that when they drop into the number one spot, they get cocky. They have a reason to believe that their number one spot means that they will beat everyone, which bites them in the ass. Even if OU attempted to remove of that attitude towards the game, it would still show back up somehow, and it would most likely fall over for them. Right now, I'm happy with our standings. Top 20 is good with me for now. And eventually, we'll be back on track.

      +Dagz OG Difference between BCS and CFP is that it doesnt matter who's #1 in the CFP all that matters is who are the 4 teams in the Playoffs. Seeds=Semi-Final Matchups? Okay I understand that case but still its all about the Championship in the Playoffs whereas in the BCS for a season like 2008 the question was who will be #1 and #2 and piggy banking off of your comment I believe Florida was motivated being #2 after beating Alabama in the SEC Title game and that there was some effect feeling from both sides. Im an Alabama fan so you know that I know that very well that the CFP top rankings dont matter as much as the BCS, but good luck on your Sooners this season and hopefully they and the Tide play in Miami/Arlington on NYE or in Glendale on 1/11.

    • @jasonth13
      @jasonth13 8 лет назад +3

      +Dagz OG OU played their caliber of football. It's just that talent at OU has fallen off quite a bit over the last several years. Clemson's lines just beat the shit out of OU's. OU's WRs looked mediocre against Clemson's DBs. Clemson's personnel is just better right now. OU, you have to admit, got overrated by playing the other 3 best Big 12 teams without their starting QBs. If OU had faced Russell or Boykin, they wouldn't have been in the playoffs to begin with.

      Many OU fans including myself are screaming to make this happen. OU would only be 2nd to Bama in terms of tradition in the hyped SEC. Playing in the SEC would only increase OU's chances of landing those prized recruits that buy into the SEC hype and would more than likely become an immediate threat to dominate the SEC on par with Bama. To think otherwise would be foolish imo.

    • @brandonreese2918

      I know for a fact both Texas and Baylor would give the so called mighty SEC a go for it's money..there's no way those SEC teams would match speed and power with Baylor or Texas..and the overall advantage that we have in the Big 12 is that we can play in cold weather..lets see how the SEC would match playing in -degree weather in the Big 12..

      Speed and Power? Are you kidding me? That's all the SEC is, speed and power and defense. Oklahoma scored 60 points on average per game until they played a team with a real defense. Ohio State did the same thing in the 2006-2007 season when Florida beat them 41 to 14 in the national championship game. Ohio State was averaging 45 points per game. Texas would be mediocre at best in the SEC and Baylor would'n stand a chance playing against real defenses.

    • @marktastic86
      @marktastic86 8 лет назад

      Ur Momma But Bama is favored to win every game they play going back to 2008. Nothing you say can change the fact they've won 4 titles in a 7 year span, and Oklahoma lost 3 out of their 4 when presented with the chance to do the same. Now you can add getting dropkicked out of the first round of the playoffs to that list of blowing it when there's something real to play for.

    The highlight everyone loves to show of Manny Johnson getting leveled down the sideline early in the game is clearly pass interference. The ball hits the defender in the back of the jersey because he is already crushing the receiver. Clearly pass interference. Drives me nuts watching that highlight all the time and all you hear is how big a hit it was.

    • @segfault_000
      @segfault_000 4 года назад +1

      Nope, you're wrong. Freeze frame it, it hits the receiver in the right hand before it touches Wright. I wouldn't have been surprised if it was called, but I'm also not surprised that it wasn't. Remember, there was much more of a tolerance for hits like this back then.
