I remember watching this game and rooting for my Gators. I don’t understand all of the hate for Ohio State though. They have a great football tradition up there and great fans, not obnoxious like some schools. Every time I have been to Columbus, most everyone was extremely nice and friendly to me.
Same here, Leak took a LOT of flak and was never fully appreciated for what he did. He had 3 different offensive coordinators in 3 years and even though he was not a spread QB he made it work. I remember how much of the fanbase wanted Tebow to start over him. I was SO glad he got to fulfill his promise of a national title. One of the most underrated QB's in college football history. Zook may not have been a good coach, but he was a damn fine recruiter as this team is largely Zooks players.

Crazy thing players for the Gators were recruited by three different coaches, Meyer, Zook, and the Ole Ball Coach. Big assist goes to Ron Zook, most of the players on Florida’s team were recruited by him. It’s fitting Chris Leak, Steve Spurrier’s last recruit, plays the best game of his life and wins the championship in his final game as a Gator.

You guys are right about the weakness of Big10 versus SEC. And you're right that there was too much talk of how great OSU was. Too much. I thought that all that talk about OSU being great was too much. Beating a Texas Team led by a freshman Colt McCoy by an experienced QB like Troy Smith was not that great an accomplishment. Then there was the 5-week layover between the last game they played before Thanksgiving 2006 and the NC game in 2007. Nevertheless, UF D-line dominated OSU's O-line, in ways that Troy Smith had not seen. As for speed, I wish Ted Gin had not been injured by the Buckeyes jumping on him in excitement and had remained in the game. Perhaps the score would not have been as embarrassing as 41-14. I remember one of my buddies commenting "There's your Florida speed", as UF players struggled to keep up with Ginn in the opening kickoff.
