The worst part of a period Cramps. Standing up after sitting for an hour or longer. Ik this is tmi but pooping. Working out. Back pain Headaches Unable to move. Thinking it’s gone so you remove your pad or tampon or anything in that realm And then it coming back. Tender breasts. Sneezing. Sometimes Nausea. Insomnia. And a whole bunch of others
Trueee. I remember when I got period cramps for the first time when I was in middle school. I was in an art lesson and all of a sudden my tummy and my vagina felt like they were gonna explode. I was crying so much and everyone was looking at me so I went to the school office and the receptionist refused to send me home because she thought I was faking it. Eventually I was screaming so much that she called my mum. When I walked out of the back room in the office there were like 5 other kids who were staring at me in shock 😂 That was probably the worst day at middle school I ever had lol
Omg when u sneeze u give birth to a bloody jellyfish once in French class I got bad cramps and I just curled up in a ball and the teacher asked me if I wanted to go to the nurse and I was like yesssss pls and then I got some pain killers and I went back to class and the teacher stopped me and said “honey if ur cramps are that bad go home I will email the work u miss” AND I WILL NEVER FORGET THAT ❤️
i got a thinx period panties ad before this video and it showed women with stretch marks and cellulite and pubic hair which was great. it's always amazing to see a brand advertising women who aren't the highest beauty standers and are just regular people.
@@LangBellsChannel They just go right in the middle of your underwear, lol! If they're sliding around that means you purchased a cheaper brand which is fine if you cannot afford anything else. I've been there but I always try to get the more expensive brand.
The only people scared of tampons are folks that read about TS syndrome or their a Virgin 🤷🏽♀️...I hate pads but I’ll use them if their is no tampons around 👌🏽
Helena P. Well you must talk to your doctor bc if your not a Virgin you can definitely wear a tampon other then that you must suffer from the “Sahara desert” affect so talk to your doctor bc ain’t no way you don’t have vaginal secretion bc that’s what normal vagina’s produce...Some People call it “Wet wet” so yeah go get that checked out sis 💋 PS. A tampon can actually be worn up to 3 hours depending on your flow (Any time longer You have a higher risk of catching TSS Which stand for TOXIC SHOCK SYNDROME which will later bring on other complications) and if your actually flowing upon usage of that tampon how can it not fit in and tampons are much more smaller than an actual penis so I’m gonna take a long shot and say “You are a VIRGIN” with an intact HYMEN bc ain’t no way you flowing and it doesn’t slide right in especially “Tampon PEARL easy glide” 😳
one time in 6th grade, i was opening a pad in the bathroom and there was a girl in the stall next to me. she asked "why are you opening a bag of doritos in the bathroom? 💀😭

As a gynecologist I came upon this video and would like to give some tips If you are able to feel your menstrual cup it may not be in correctly or be the wrong side Sea sponges shouldn’t be unbearable itchy because this might mean you have a further problem such as a yeast infection Menstrual cups should last nearly a full day , if this isn’t the case then you may have an extremely heavy flow that might need to be checked out or it may not be inserted correctly
@@AsthaSinhaYT menstrual cups do take a while to get used to but personally, i love it because it lasts longer than tampons and pads, is eco friendly, has a lower rate of tss than tampons, can contain a larger flow, and you don’t feel it throughout the day if inserted properly!
@@AsthaSinhaYT damn it is a game changer... I couldn't get it in my first try and was really sad and angry about it... But after watching enough videos, in my second cycle I finally got it in it is definitely The Best and for me it lasts for abou 8hours on my heaviest days. Never give up on trying . That's what I learnt..
unicornicecream It’s still a pain to go through menopause, it’s almost like a period as it’s better or worse for others just without blood. My cousin is in menopause and she constantly gets heat flashes and wishes she had her period instead.
I always rely on pads. If the pad is bulky, and I wanna wear leggings, I wear shorts over top to keep it in place. I only use tampons when I'm swimming.
I feel like on a regular basis people go around asking “WHOS ON THIER PERIOD!” 3 people like raise their hand and then their like “OKAY LETS MAKE A VIDEO!”
My exciting part of being on my period Eating food, being lazy, making excuses, not doing anything all day. (Except for getting up and taking showers) There I said it.
I only use cups... you literally don't feel it at all and it is obviously way cheaper and more convenient than buying a $10 box of tampons every single month.
@@adriennepankratz5512 My best advice is just to relax! Your first few times using it may be a bit stressful, but have patience when inserting/removing. Also, wash it with cold water rather than hot, and it won't stain/smell at all.
I want to change over to a cup. I purchased the Saalt cup. Insertion was painful. Tried all the tricks/positions suggested...no success😢 I'm back to pads🤷🏾♀️
Lara was literally the worst person to let use the cup. I've used a diva cup for years and I could literally keep it in for a full period and it wouldn't leak. It's so much more comfortable than any other period product and isn't bulky at all. I would recommend it to anyone who is comfortable wearing tampons
Also, the diva cup tends to be on the larger side for cups. I feel like they should have mentioned that there are dozens of options out there in different sizes. I bought a diva cup but it was too big and uncomfortable, but when I switched to fleurcup, it was great and I couldn't feel it!
Menstrual cups are literally the best. I've had one for 5 years now and I'm never going back. Had to get one because one time my period was so heavy I couldn't leave my house because I had to change my heavy flow night time pad AND my tampon almost hourly. It was a nightmare. The cup kinda saved my social life.
arrkku how tho lol if your flow was that heavy don't you have to empty the cup pretty frequently? The whole emptying it and reusing thing really isn't convenient to me lol especially if you have to empty it in public
that was luckily just a one-time thing, my flow is kinda normal now haha But I still empty it every couple of hours on my heaviest day. It's really not a big deal. In public I just empty it in the toilet and put it either straight back in or wipe it with tissues and then put it back. It's really not that hard once you get the hang of it, it takes just as little time as changing a pad or a tampon. Also if you get your period you have to use -something- and still change it. Over time these cups are less expensive and also environmentally friendly.
grey egghead I have to change my super plus tampon every 40 minutes. Diva cup is definitely worth it. You will have a struggle getting used to it like most do but I definitely recommend. I bought one and I am never going back. It’s not as bad as it seems and if you really think you will have dryness even if you are on your period use a water based lube and not oil because oil breaks down silicon.😬😊
I wish, my flow is too heavy for them and it makes me so sad becuase it’s way better for the planet and would save so much money:( sadly it only holds my blood for about an hour
Attitude Ajustment They shouldn't be free because then the companies wouldnt make money, and then people wouldnt get paid. But they should be readily avalibile for people who xant afford them.
Very true and it is a real problem! A few solutions are donating period products to shelters (they will always need and appreciate them!) or sewing reusable cotton pads for the shelters :)
I can't handle a cup or tampon.... I'm a sensitive person for some reason and I get really uncomfortable easily. I hate peeing in public places because I can't wash and I hate it, so using cups or tampons ain't gonna work. I'll be a pad user for life.
That’s totally fine! Everyone is different and you know your own body and what you’re comfortable with, and you shouldn’t feel pressured to use tampons or cups; but perhaps consider the period pants or reusable cotton pad like in this video to cut down on harmful waste!
Seriously. And some girls at my school were assholes because then we’d go back to class and they’d say, “so and so has their period!” It was so humiliating. This was a long time ago. I’d like to think there’s more of a sisterhood nowadays but idk
Yea. I LOVE my menstrual cup. It took a few insertions to really figure out how to get in in right. But once you do, you can’t feel it at all. I have a Diva Cup and that is literally all I’ve used for 9 years now. One $24 cup has lasted me 9 years!!! Imagine how many tampons that would have been!! Saves money, less chemicals in your body, and produces less waste! I just wish I’d known about them when I was younger!
Menstrual cups also have a bit of a large learning curve to them, so it takes time and practice and finding the right size menstrual cup that works for you.
Honestly, Lara should have been educated way more on the cup. There’s a learning curve to it that takes time. I use the Ruby Cup, my first period was a bunch of trial and error, a lot of error. My second period, I had it down. I know I believe I watched a video where she talked about having vaginismus (I believe it was her). If she still deals with tightness, she needs to try a water based lube. Because I have very tight and strong pelvic muscles. I have to use a water based lube because the moisture from my period is never enough. She also may have been folding its way that’s harder for her to insert. There’s a couple ways to do it. Last thing, even though she said the stem was short, she said she could feel it when she sat down. So she either didn’t fully insert it, or her cervix drops lower than average. She may need to cut the stem. I had to do this, I took mine all the way off because my cervix drops down extremely low when my period starts. It won’t get lost up there, there’s no where for it to go. She was kind of making me irritated with how little she knew and how little of an effort she was making to try it out. They’re meant to be worn for up to 12 hours. I have a pretty moderate, slightly heavy flow, and I literally only change it once a day. I hope she tries it again, and maybe she tries some new techniques. Because once you get it down, it’s so easy, and so much less of a hassle than pass and tampons. Also if she has an issue cleaning them, you can always use toilet paper, or even invest in the cleaning wipes that I think Lena Cup sells. And if not there’s plenty of other cup brands some I know for sure sell little wipes to clean your cup with on the go. Sorry for such a long comment I’m sure no one will read it anyway.
I also use a cup and I think you hit this one right on the nail. I use wipes when I'm at work it works out just fine. It is trial and error but I'd you truly want to help the environment and save money, it's totally worth it!
Audrey Jean I agree, it seems like she genuinely just likes to whine. As someone who uses Menstrual cups, yes the first day you put it in its a bit odd, however she didn't even try, saying "I give this five minutes then I'm taking it out" isn't going to get you anywhere. However with her endometriosis she shouldn't use any period product that is inserted because it can make it worse.
@@mahimaupadhyay1447 then you need to get the hang of it😂 just kidding but I think it’s a 1-3 cycles worth of a learning curve - like understanding your vagina in general along with the cup meant for you, otherwise before that you can use a cup with a backup like a panty liner on
When i got my period for the first time, i was at school and wearing the worst thing on the worst day ever.... White Pants. I wrapped my jacket around my waist then went around asking girls for pads. Non of the girls had pads but one had some tampons. I didn’t really have an option so i took them. I was able to put it in correctly, years later I always use tampons.
Zeanndrea Brown ohhhh jesus lord trust me you don’t want to get your period. even if all your friends have it, it’s literally a struggle and causes me so much stress. trust me, i was so eager to get my period and after a few months of first getting it, I REGRETTED EVERYTHING. enjoy your time while you still can :((
Kuwilileni is honestly one of my favorite women on Buzzfeed. She’s so incredibly smart and honestly always knows what to say. I completely agree that there is not enough conversation about periods. When you mention it, the room gets really awkward. Even women will say “Ew!” if you start talking about them. We need to change that. It’s a bodily function, just like coughing, sneezing, breathing.
When I was around 12 most of my friends started developing, but since I was so petite and skinny I didn't. I was just *so* jealous and so desperate to have my period and be "welcomed" into the "ladies world". Thing is, two years later from then auntie Flo finally arrived. And I've hated it ever since. Happy story :)
This video is TERRIBLE representation for menstrual cups. First of all, if you need to empty a menstrual cup every thirty minutes you're probably dying. Even with a very heavy flow, with the right cup, you can go hours without taking it out. Sure it's not easy for everyone at first but it's totally worth it. It's comfortable when you have it in correctly, convenient, free of chemicals, and environmentally friendly. Menstrual cups are a great option and this video does not do them justice.
It’s extremely inconvenient. That’s literally everyone’s complaint... you have to empty it, rinse and reinsert. If you’re in public, you have to go into a stall, remove your cup, dump the cup, pull your pants back up, go out to the sink, rinse your cup, go back into a stall, pull down your pants again and reinsert the cup. That takes twice as long as changing a tampon that you throw away. I think menstrual cups are 50/50. There’s women who love them and women who hate them... I hate them.
Dena Barton they have wipes you can get so you don’t have to go through all that trouble, you can take it out, dump it, wipe it clean, reinsert and throw the wipes away and you’re done
Dena Barton and you don’t have to rinse it out every time, taking some tp and wiping off the inside/outside works for me. I used to be pads only cause tampons hurt, but now I only use the cup and usually a liner. If you take the time to know about the different cups then you will find one that works for you.
I love menstrual cups. The thing is, there are a shitload of different cups with different diameter, length, firmness and capacity. Not every women and every cup are a great match. It really makes sense to get to know your own body and read into the specifications of different cups. And most unfortunately the descriptions of the companies are utter crap. Your size or hight really doesn't translate to your vag. It'd be like choosing your shoe size according to your body type.
How do you wash it in public without like, getting blood all over that sink? I've wanted to try a cup for a while, but I was still confused on that. ( i know you probably pour blood into the toilet, but how do you clean it after?)
You only have to empty the cup every 12 hours, so I've never run into the issue of emptying my cup in public. I do it when I get up in the morning and when I get home at night. If at a rare moment you would have to empty it in a public restroom just bring a water bottle in with you and rinse it off that way.
I think she got the Lena cup, which I have, and the little booklet inside recommends checking it every 30 minutes or so when you first use it until you get used to how fast it fills up
She has excessive bleeding because of her health issues. You'd be surprised how much blood comes out with the health problems she does. It's so bad. I usually stay home when I bleed because of how much comes out.
U defiantly need to know more about the mental cup Lara, because it doesn’t only last for 30 mins, even in a heavy flow. And it annoyed me about how unwilling she was about trying something new. She barely gave effort on trying to figure out how to it better. I’ve used a mental cup and now I use it every time I get my period. It takes time to do it for the first time but seriously. .. Lara, give more effort because all the other girls did.
It probably hurt her, she has vulvodynia, so I think she just got frustrated from the pain, honestly what I don't understand is why she didn't try the period panties, it seems like a better alternative for her
If she has vulvodynia, how does she rely on TAMPONS? If you can stand relying on tampons, you can stand the cup. I cannot handle tampons and while I don't like the cup either, it's less uncomfortable than a tampon for me.
List of my worst fears: 1. Getting a deadly illness 2.Downward going escalators 3.Blood pressure measurers (the things that squeeze) 4. Tampons Woah so many likes thanks guys
I was also TERRIFIED of tampons but recently my friends invited me to go swimming with them and I really wanted to go and I ain't letting my period get in the way of my summer so I did a BUNCH of research, I watched videos, read articles,EVERYTHING and I finally tried a tampon the day before and I was ok and I literally had no one to help me with it bc i didn't want to tell my mom or my sisters bc I knew they wouldn't let me use tampons but I was fine in the end. nothing happened to me.I faced my fears. u can do it too. :)
I would suggest the Ruby Cup. It might be more comfortable, and when you buy one they donate one to a girl in a 3rd world country so she can stay in school.
Don't get me wrong but Lana is so annoying.... Like Daysha used a damn sponge.. and she did not complain about it. While a lot of women wear menstrual cups on the everyday bases and its perfectly fine for them. Actually trying/doing it > complaining
The Lena cup is a firmer cup so it might have actually been uncomfortable for her. I know mine isn't very good for my heavier days (both because it's too small and because I'm more sensitive).
It's very uncomfortable and annoying the first time, even the whole first period you use it. I know, I've used it for years now. I can imagine someone with vaginal problems, dryness or something like that can experience discomfort for longer. And it most certainly is not for everyone. It's good to have options, maybe this is just not for her.
I love how my friends and I can talk about periods without feeling awkward. My friend started yesterday at a pool party/ sleepover and i had to give her a pad because she didn't have any. My poor baby girl. Also none of us use(or are allowed to use) tampons.
A few months ago I was using tampons and pads but I bleed a lot so I tried the Diva Cup and Im in love it Works so well and I can change it every 5 hours on my heavy days so its way better and I recommend it
Rebecca Fournier how do you put it in tho and isn't it kinda gross to like pour out and clean? I don't even mess with tampons because i don't want anything on my fingers.
Kaiya 。。 honestly, you get used to it! I had trouble at first figuring out how to put it in but I love it now, it's really convinient. I guess if you get grossed out by seeing your blood on a tampon or pad it might be a little gross, but I didn't have a problem.
Rebecca Fournier Do you ever have a problem with cramps getting worse when you use it? I really only use mine for swimming, because when I use it outside of the water, I get back pain from it.
Justina Kenyon I actually think that they make my cramps less worst than with a tampon Idk if its just me but I use it everytime I get my periods and well Im more free to do things that reduce the cramps so personnally it helps me
Tucker,Fearn and Bentley’s Angel Forever it won’t be unhygienic if you wash it the correct way. plus, do you not realize disposable ones are terrible for the environment
My mom made me some because we were too poor to afford pads when I started my period. They were more comfortable than traditional pads but of course less convenient when you’re in school.
How do you use them for a whole period. Do they come with changes or new inserts or do you have to wash them everyday bc I do not have a washing machine
Man I love these types of videos they help so much☺ but I hate that period products create so much waste, are considered luxury items, and that some long term products (i.e. thinx and the diva cup) are out of budget for a lot of women, me being one lol 😁
Mecca 532 if you go on amazon there are a lot of other brands for as low as $7 for the cups and they are all the same but different I don’t like the diva cup but one I found on amazon for a really cheap price I love
Mecca 532 think about the cup as an investment, tampons and pads is something that you pay for every month, but you buy a cup for 5 years ! Really cheap in the long term compared to tampons and pads
idk about thinx but diva cups are waaayyyyy cheaper than your usual tampon box... I paid mine 15€, which is nothing compared to what we spend monthly on period products in the long term
I have to admit that I tried an alternative...Never again. I had really long nails the time, and trying to get out, it was kind of scary. I will never do that again.
Sydney Patterson no it’s better if you cut your nails , I’m 13 and I use a menstrual cup it would tear up your vagina flesh if those nails were inside of you
Hannah Wenger Ummm, tampons hold less than pads now. (I think, haven't used one in years.) I don't know what kind you are getting but there are very comfy, thin heavy flow pads now.
I have never ever encountered a pad that was comfortable. Always feels like a diaper and you can definitely always feel something there. Tampons aren’t the best, but they are better than pads. I’m moving over to the cup.
Ani C I like pads better too. Honestly every time I try to put a tampon in, it hurts so freaking bad!! I know I'm putting it in right because before a couple years ago I had it down. I must've become extremely sensitive down there at some point.
Menstrual cups are a learning curve but I have not looked back. I've had mine for a year now. $43 up front and I haven't had to buy a tampon or pad since. I use a silicone toy cleaner to clean it, since I'm already using it to clean silicone toys that go up there, my logic was is that it should work just as well and I'm not using harsh soaps that could irritate things. No issues past the learning curve. The only negative I'd say, is I was very aware of the tail of the cup at first (could feel it as I walked sometimes). You get used to it after a while.
@@crazycrafts5945 true. Although you're much less likely to get TSS from a sea sponge. When pulling out a dry tampon, you sometimes get bits of cotton left behind and that is the breeding ground for the bacteria. That and microtears that occur when tampons are removed; if you have the bacteria and you have a vaginal microtear the TSS causing bacteria can get in your bloodstream (I think/assume that's how a teen died after using her first ever tampon - she must've already had the bacteria and tampon removal caused a microtear and the bacteria got in her bloodstream). Sea sponges are much less likely to cause microtears (I assume. I don't know for certain)
The cup that she had might not be the right fit for her. I wonder how much research they did prior to just handing her whichever cup. There's definitely a learning curve with a cup, but once you get it most people never go back. I've been using a menstrual cup for about eight years now.
I've used my diva cup for 3-4 years now! They do not have to be changed "like every 30 minutes" as she said. I used to bleed through a super tampon in an hour and I can use the diva cup for 4-6 hours on heavy days and up to 12 on others!!! Can use for up to 12 hours and no TSS risk 👍😀
That cup holds for a very long time you do not need to empty in 30 min if you have the correct seal around your cervix and you do not bleed as much as you think
TerrificTaiTai It's definitely it. You bleed alot more than a normal female. And a lot of females don't believe it until they develop it and see what we have to go through.
animals rule endometriosis. I have PCOS and on the first three days I typically change my pad every hour, it's insane the amount if blood I lose. I'd love to do a diva cup but it just can't happen. Gonna switch to reusable cotton pads, can't wait!
Julia Crowe I have PCOS as well and deal with the same thing. I have heard, though, that when you stop using tampons and pads from the store, or more natural products, it can help to lessen your flow. Something about the chemicals in the products. I’m considering trying the reusable pads. I am hoping that it helps.
Honesty I hated the diva cup! I found it was so uncomfortable that I could only wear it for 10mins before it became too unbearable. Turns out the diva cup is not for me, it is way to long. I tried the lunette cup and I absolutely love it. I’ve been using it over a year now and I will never go back to disposables. I still hate the diva cup though lol.
Yeah, I was not a fan of the Diva cup either, but I'm obsessed with my OrganiCup. I will never ever ever use disposables again. People, do your research before buying a cup! It's not one size fits all!
I was in the exact same situation. My Diva Cup kept leaking no matter what I did. I read the instructions, watched many videos, and read advice columns, but it would always lose suction and ruin my underwear. I got the Lunette recently and have experienced almost no leaks whatsoever. The only time it leaked was my first time trying it and even then it was only small spotting. I’d also recommend the Thinx underwear as well.
I'm the opposite way! I didn't really know that much about where the cervix is and how low or high up it was for me, so I tried the diva cup and I love it. Then I tried the Lunette cup and it got lost up my vagina (Not literally but it was far up there) I think I just need to find more cups for people with higher cervixes lol
@@teajdeWell, there are cups made for low cervix, high cervix, heavy flow, light flow, there are hard cups, soft cups, and different shapes as well. I'm not sure what the shape is for but a low cervix cup is shorter and a high cervix cup is longer. Usually heavy flow menstrual cups are anywhere from 30-40 ml, and light flow cups are 15-20-25 ml. I find harder cups are easier to get opened and suctioned on, while the softer cups are a lot harder to get open, led alone suctioned, but softer cups are better for sports, or things that require a lot of movement. The diva cup is a soft, and long cup. But it can only hold about 20 ml, but suction breaks at 15. If you have any other questions then I'd be happy to answer them.
I'm a trans man who uses a cup There's a learning curve but once you boil it a few times to soften/dissinfect it it becomes very easy to use It's shortened my cycle from 7 to 4 days and it lessens my cramps, the cup I use also lasts a good 9 hours when my flow is heavy and for the last two days I can leave it in for 10-12
I understand that the one girl has a medical condition. So why would you give her the diva cup??? Why not give her the thinx or pads and give the cup to someone who can actually stand it??
But her opinion might reach a lot of young girls / women who are then afraid to use the cup. She kinda makes it out to be a horrible option when actually the exact opposite is the case. It is such a great alternative and this video just makes it seem like a painful and inconvenient period product.
I am not going to wear tampons. I want to, but there has been times where family has been close to getting TSS even before the 8 hours or whatever was up.
The Doctors did an episode about the sponge as a period product. They said that the sponge soaks up things in the ocean and you can never 100% say that it has nothing bad in it. They said not to use it.
Madison Taylor yeah I'm surprised they would advise ppl to use them. I personally use a diva cup and I only spent $40 once 2 years ago. I wear it was all day and I don't have to be scared of Toxic Shock Syndrome, don't have to run to a bathroom with crinkly pad wrapping in the middle of the day....it's just perfect
Tbh I'm a littttttle bit irritated about the whole diva cup scenario. I own two, and have had them for about 2 years, and they are one of the best things I've ever used. It doesn't fill up in 30 minutes, no one really bleeds that much that fast, sometimes I leave mine in for up to 12 hours, and I am fine. And when it comes to emptying it its usually about half full, and I have a heavy flow. When I was using tampons I was changing every hour, and used over 8 a day before they would start leaking and making a mess. I admit that the diva cup leaks too if you don't get it placed over the cervix right, but that's basically because you missed the placement. And a travel diva cup can only hold maybe around 6 hours worth of blood, so a little less, BUT THATS BECAUSE IT'S A TRAVEL CUP!! Personally, I believe that period cups are the best way to deal with your period, I could never go back to anything else ever!
Dylana lewis I use the moon cup but on my second day of my period it really fills up in about an hour so just because it doesn't happen to you doesn't mean it doesn't happen to anyone
The learning curve was just a bit too much for me lol. I spent 10 minutes on a toilet (in the restroom that the whole floor of the dorm used) for some bloody hands and a really uncomfortable half hour with it in. I think if I had been at home with my own bathroom I could have taken more time to figure it out but I'm on birth control now so I dont even need high protection lol. Three cheers for waste free periods though 🎉
Dylana lewis you know with my first experience with a cup it inserted it in around the morning time, then 5 hours later I go to the store in a dress, and the most embarrassing thing happened, blood pooled down my legs at the cash register. Luckily there was only one person behind me but I had to ask for paper towels to clean myself up right there in the store. I could not move or else more Would pool out. Turns out I was heavy and it was full. I’m still using the cup though. It’s too comfortable and convenient.
I would like to use a menstrual cup, but my mom says that I'm "too young for it" and that I should stick to pads. Tbh I feel like pads aren't for me but I can't really control what I use since I'm not the one who buys them
When I was ten my mom gave me the “talk” because I had been having period symptoms and she gave me pads and tampons to put in my backpack for school, she also MADE me wear Thinx underwear, she got the thinx underwear idea from my friends mom who’s daughter had used them for her period. And a week later,I got my period. So props to my mom for preparing me .So trust me,thinx underwear is actually really good. I’m 17 now
The cup is way better then the tampons( my opinion ) it’s better for nature and all that good stuff. But it’s your opinion if you think it’s good or not.
love my mesntrual cup, already made its money worth in tampons and has at least three more years to go, no dioxin,no dry tampons, no strings,no sweaty pads in the summer and no more pounds of waste for me..all these things are worth to just try to make it work
I’m gonna say this right now. Tampons and pads should be free or prices lowered. It’s something every female has to go through and we spend at least $100 on them, in a year. Something that’s and hygienic should be cheaper in stores. Edit: You guys are bringing different things into this. Soap, toilet paper, food...that’s different. In this case, the video is talking about periods, so my comment was made around period products. If this was a video about alternate food, soap, and toilet paper, this comment would be made around that. Please, take into consideration that this comment is based off of period products. I understand that food and items like that may be apart of your argument, but that’s a different story for a different time. I would really appreciate it if you guys kept your arguments with my belief around period products. Not food, clothes, toilet paper ext.
Toilet paper should be free. Everyone uses it, and buying it costs so much each year. It would be much more hygienic for everyone to be provided with toilet paper. I 100% disagree with the idea of free sanitary projects
you’re probably taking it out too soon or you didn’t have it far enough in. either way it’s considered “dry” and yes it hurts a lot. if you do it correct though, it’ll come out with ease
Switched to a diva cup almost a year ago and haven’t looked back. Takes a few times to get it in right but it’s comfortable and could literally last all day on a light-moderate day with no leaks. Only problem is if you have to dump it in a public place
Got some questions. How long can you keep it in on heavy days? And when you clean in out in the toilet and bring like a waterborne to clean it and then put it in again would that work?
Typisch Ida my second day is my heaviest and I can leave it in the full twelve hours! and I plan around using the restroom because you can pee with it in unlike I tampon where you have to change it every time you go to the bathroom so I usually never have to change it in a public restroom but i have people who’ve told me that they just bring a water bottle with them if they have no option but to change it in public!
and sometimes I use panty liners just incase I get a little leakage...the really thin ones. Also you dont have to wash it in public...you can just dump it out and wipe with toilet paper. Then wash it when you get home.
My friend was hiking with me and sleeping in a tent for a week while she had her period. I think she just had some sort of wet wipes to clean it when emptying it in the nature. You can always work around it.

Omg when u sneeze u give birth to a bloody jellyfish
once in French class I got bad cramps and I just curled up in a ball and the teacher asked me if I wanted to go to the nurse and I was like yesssss pls and then I got some pain killers and I went back to class and the teacher stopped me and said “honey if ur cramps are that bad go home I will email the work u miss” AND I WILL NEVER FORGET THAT ❤️

PS.

As a gynecologist I came upon this video and would like to give some tips
If you are able to feel your menstrual cup it may not be in correctly or be the wrong side
Sea sponges shouldn’t be unbearable itchy because this might mean you have a further problem such as a yeast infection
Menstrual cups should last nearly a full day , if this isn’t the case then you may have an extremely heavy flow that might need to be checked out or it may not be inserted correctly
Are cups good?
@@AsthaSinhaYT menstrual cups do take a while to get used to but personally, i love it because it lasts longer than tampons and pads, is eco friendly, has a lower rate of tss than tampons, can contain a larger flow, and you don’t feel it throughout the day if inserted properly!

@@adriennepankratz5512 My best advice is just to relax! Your first few times using it may be a bit stressful, but have patience when inserting/removing. Also, wash it with cold water rather than hot, and it won't stain/smell at all.

Lara was literally the worst person to let use the cup. I've used a diva cup for years and I could literally keep it in for a full period and it wouldn't leak. It's so much more comfortable than any other period product and isn't bulky at all. I would recommend it to anyone who is comfortable wearing tampons
Maura McBride yeah if they know she has a condition they should've had her try something else
Also, the diva cup tends to be on the larger side for cups. I feel like they should have mentioned that there are dozens of options out there in different sizes. I bought a diva cup but it was too big and uncomfortable, but when I switched to fleurcup, it was great and I couldn't feel it!
And it helps if you put it in right when you start spotting.

The whole emptying it and reusing thing really isn't convenient to me lol especially if you have to empty it in public
arrkku wow what cup do you use? It must hold a lot more than mine😂😂
that was luckily just a one-time thing, my flow is kinda normal now haha But I still empty it every couple of hours on my heaviest day.
Period products should be free . What if a homeless lady is on her period what is she going to do it's like a choice between food and periods
Yeah? So who will pay for them? You?
Some shelters do provide donated ones. If you're poor, buy or make reuseable pads or save and buy a cup.
Attitude Ajustment
They shouldn't be free because then the companies wouldnt make money, and then people wouldnt get paid. But they should be readily avalibile for people who xant afford them.
Very true and it is a real problem! A few solutions are donating period products to shelters (they will always need and appreciate them!) or sewing reusable cotton pads for the shelters :)
They shouldn't be free. They are luxury items.
So, pads should be free but not food? Food is more important than pads/tampons.
I can't handle a cup or tampon.... I'm a sensitive person for some reason and I get really uncomfortable easily. I hate peeing in public places because I can't wash and I hate it, so using cups or tampons ain't gonna work. I'll be a pad user for life.
Same, girl!
Same, I’m just not that comfortable enough to be shoving things In and outta there, 🙊
Cherry Wabbit I agree it’s just the thought of shoving something up there is scary for me, also the worry of TSS (toxic shock syndrome)
That’s totally fine! Everyone is different and you know your own body and what you’re comfortable with, and you shouldn’t feel pressured to use tampons or cups; but perhaps consider the period pants or reusable cotton pad like in this video to cut down on harmful waste!
Cherry Wabbit Your body just may not be designed to accommodate tampons. It never feels comfortable to me either to have something inside my body.

Spider Man yeah if you feel it you need to cut the stem or try a different shape cup she just obviously didn’t want to like it in my opinion😬
Listen to 7:54 she’s gonna try it again......
i mean she was on her period. I'd be complaining and mad for no reason too.
I read it
I also use a cup and I think you hit this one right on the nail. I use wipes when I'm at work it works out just fine. It is trial and error but I'd you truly want to help the environment and save money, it's totally worth it!
I thought she was so whiny.
IckleBloo Agreed.
Ok the girl with the diva cup was not a good girl to pick she’s not very outgoing.
Maddy C actually she has a freaking ton of pelvic problems, she can’t insert anything without hurting I’ve no idea why they gave her the cup

Thank you Kanye, very cool.

Tiffany Marie Love that you found your cup! I like my Lunette and my Luneale :)
The woman was trying to insert it instead of it sticking onto the outside
Skarli what do you mean? Cups are being inserted.
2:40 30 minutes? Really?!? Honey, the great part about cups are that you can leave them in for 12 hours
I know! Even people with a heavy flow leave it in for like 5-8 hours, not 30 minutes.
I think she got the Lena cup, which I have, and the little booklet inside recommends checking it every 30 minutes or so when you first use it until you get used to how fast it fills up
Moxie McRawr that would make a lot more sense if that's the case
But how it is so small

Also I have the cup she had and it should not be the first one she ever bought. It’s wayy less flexible than other cups.
Hey it’s Lucie 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 well said!
List of my worst fears:
1. Getting a deadly illness
2.Downward going escalators
3.Blood pressure measurers (the things that squeeze)
4. Tampons
Woah so many likes thanks guys
OMG Number 2! I am also afraid of going down escalators. People always look at me weird when I say it too.
5: Standing and feeling the Jenga tower fall
I was also TERRIFIED of tampons but recently my friends invited me to go swimming with them and I really wanted to go and I ain't letting my period get in the way of my summer so I did a BUNCH of research, I watched videos, read articles,EVERYTHING and I finally tried a tampon the day before and I was ok and I literally had no one to help me with it bc i didn't want to tell my mom or my sisters bc I knew they wouldn't let me use tampons but I was fine in the end. nothing happened to me.I faced my fears. u can do it too. :)
4. Same because im afraid of getting toxic shock syndrome
pastel heart
Just don’t leave it in for too long, it’s not that hard.
I would suggest the Ruby Cup. It might be more comfortable, and when you buy one they donate one to a girl in a 3rd world country so she can stay in school.
What are the ages for those?
Kimchi Productions period and up?
Did anyone else think it might be a bad idea for Lara to try the DivaCup since she has vulvodynia?
She seems to be getting better about it but i was concerned
What? I am sorry I don't what that is
Don't get me wrong but Lana is so annoying....
Like Daysha used a damn sponge.. and she did not complain about it. While a lot of women wear menstrual cups on the everyday bases and its perfectly fine for them.
Actually trying/doing it > complaining
Sassy Dinosaur She has some vaginal problems so that might’ve been an issue with it.
She has a vagina condition. But it doesn't make sense as to why she choose something to stick up her vagina 🙄
The Lena cup is a firmer cup so it might have actually been uncomfortable for her. I know mine isn't very good for my heavier days (both because it's too small and because I'm more sensitive).
Um lana is not complaining lara is
It's very uncomfortable and annoying the first time, even the whole first period you use it.
Lol same! Although none of my freinds except one has actually started. I see u arri! 😝
But why aren't you allowed To use tampons
I’m curious why you aren’t allowed to use a tampon
If I may ask, why are some of you not allowed to use tampons?
lmao my mum doesnt let me use them either im not sure why hMmMMmmMm
Idk why but I'm obsessed with Kuwilileni's voice. 💗💗
Jasmine J. Yeah exactly you get used to it its just hard when you're in a public bathroom or else its perfect
Rebecca Fournier Do you ever have a problem with cramps getting worse when you use it? I really only use mine for swimming, because when I use it outside of the water, I get back pain from it.
Justina Kenyon I actually think that they make my cramps less worst than with a tampon Idk if its just me but I use it everytime I get my periods and well Im more free to do things that reduce the cramps so personnally it helps me
I choose pads over tampons..
I feel like everyone should
yea because I’m too scared to push a tampon up my vag and I feel like it’s gonna hurt 🥶
@@钟离-p3b It doesn't really hurt just feels weird if you put it in right
Colourful Potato Why
I hate tampons
Fabric/cloth pads are the best,it saves the environment and it doesn’t feel itchy;)
I paid mine 15€, which is nothing compared to what we spend monthly on period products in the long term
i have always thought i should own stock in tampax with as much money as i give them!
wow! how are tampons soo expensive in America? I pay like €3, but now I have switched to cloth pads as it's better for the environment.
I have to admit that I tried an alternative...Never again. I had really long nails the time, and trying to get out, it was kind of scary. I will never do that again.
- _when you haven't started your period yet but you still watchin period videos_ - y'all scaring me ;-;
Georgie Porgie too, I am 14 but still never had my period
Sabri M. ignorant
gwn ik lucky I got mine at 11
Sydney Patterson no it’s better if you cut your nails , I’m 13 and I use a menstrual cup it would tear up your vagina flesh if those nails were inside of you
I use sea sponges and they are THE BEST, but you are supposed to wet them slightly before inserting!!
WHERE u buy them??
A dead animal... :/
Bubbly Bubbles I got mine off Amazon, but make sure they are specifically for periods 😊
animals rule sponges don’t have brains or hearts. They can’t think or see or feel
Piper Armstrong nope they are super soft

She's so beautifull!
her voice is so soothing and nice to listen to!!
SAME LIKE SHE IS OUR QUEEN
I actually prefer pads over tampons because I don't like how I have to pull it out.
I understand. I was the same before I got really busy. Now I don't really have time to go to the bathroom all the time to change a pad.
Pads are horrible.
Hannah Wenger
Ummm, tampons hold less than pads now.
Ani C
I like pads better too. Honestly every time I try to put a tampon in, it hurts so freaking bad!! I know I'm putting it in right because before a couple years ago I had it down. I must've become extremely sensitive down there at some point.
I started to have boob before my period

Yes i have too
Yeah ur not
You are right
SAMME! Like how do you put that in? Does it hurt? How exactly is it suppose to feel? What happens when can't find the string?
Menstrual cups are a learning curve but I have not looked back. I've had mine for a year now. $43 up front and I haven't had to buy a tampon or pad since. I use a silicone toy cleaner to clean it, since I'm already using it to clean silicone toys that go up there, my logic was is that it should work just as well and I'm not using harsh soaps that could irritate things. No issues past the learning curve. The only negative I'd say, is I was very aware of the tail of the cup at first (could feel it as I walked sometimes). You get used to it after a while.
If it bothers you, you should cut it off! I know a few people who have a low cervix who swear by cutting it off altogether.
I did cut half of the tail off, felt very uncomfortable otherwise. Have had mine for almost 3 years and realizing how much money have I saved :D
I am sticking to pads

I am afraid to use tampons

a sponge as a tampon? that screams toxic shock syndrome
but it's a sea sponge tho , it's natural with no added chemicals in it
I thought it’s like not only bc of the tampons, but I’m not sure lol
No actually! Toxic shock comes from the way tampons are bleached to be white, so sponges are way better
@@kat8223 actually toxic shock syndrome is from bacteria entering the bloodstream, not necessarily the bleach
I'm new on the journey and just started 3 months ago and ur comment is total truth! I do love the cup as well
I agree. Finding the right cup definitely takes some learning
Jamie D isnt the pink one the smaller one though?
I've used my diva cup for 3-4 years now! They do not have to be changed "like every 30 minutes" as she said. I used to bleed through a super tampon in an hour and I can use the diva cup for 4-6 hours on heavy days and up to 12 on others!!! Can use for up to 12 hours and no TSS risk 👍😀
Yes! There are so many different types of cups and they are fantastic! I've been a cup user for 6 years now and I wouldn't go back!
Did anyone else get an ad about periods before the video started?
Scarlett Cornell me😂
yes about thinx underwear
Mine was about thinx
Same
Yes😂
That cup holds for a very long time you do not need to empty in 30 min if you have the correct seal around your cervix and you do not bleed as much as you think
Lulu Rosal she has a medical condition so that could be it 😐
TerrificTaiTai It's definitely it. You bleed alot more than a normal female. And a lot of females don't believe it until they develop it and see what we have to go through.
Stephanie Ann
What’s her condition?
animals rule endometriosis.
I am hoping that it helps.
this had to be said,,, i love Kuwilileni!! she’s so chill and has this overall good vibe ♡

I hated it too....I did everything to try and make it a lot more comfortable and for it to stop leaking...never ever doing it again
Where my pad girls at😂💗
Lemo May here
HEEEEEEEEEEERRRRRRREEEEEEEEE
Tampons scare me. 😂
Julia Schorb They really aren't :P
Meeeee !!!!
I'm a trans man who uses a cup
There's a learning curve but once you boil it a few times to soften/dissinfect it it becomes very easy to use
It's shortened my cycle from 7 to 4 days and it lessens my cramps, the cup I use also lasts a good 9 hours when my flow is heavy and for the last two days I can leave it in for 10-12
I understand that the one girl has a medical condition. So why would you give her the diva cup??? Why not give her the thinx or pads and give the cup to someone who can actually stand it??
Kat Robinson she chooses the product she uses
i thought it was weird she normally uses tampons too
Just because she has some issues doesn't mean she shouldn't try new things.
I heard it's hard to insert and remove sometimes.
Miriam T um... doctors are not dermatologists? It makes perfect sense that it's not the best idea to put something like this in you.
Eliza H. Dermatologists are skin doctors...
treble fox I was replying to someone who deleted their comment lol. I don't remember what they said.
Tbh I'm a scaredy Cat like I'm so scared about using tampons or a diva cup but I consider using it someday just not right now.
I’m 17 now
I've been using a cup since the start of the year. I'll never go back to tampons. The cup so much more convenient.
Rhea Nicola I tried the moon cup and the Athena cup and the Athena is amazing
I've been thinking bout trying them, but my girl is sooooo heavy I'm afraid it'll spill. Plus changing it out. Can you give me some tips?
The cup is way better then the tampons( my opinion ) it’s better for nature and all that good stuff. But it’s your opinion if you think it’s good or not.

I’m gonna say this right now.
Tampons and pads should be free or prices lowered. It’s something every female has to go through and we spend at least $100 on them, in a year. Something that’s and hygienic should be cheaper in stores.
Edit:
You guys are bringing different things into this.
Mocha Moo agree
Agreed
I don't think they'll be free ever but, they are wayyy to expensive for what they are used for.
Girl, say it louder for the people in the back
Toilet paper should be free. Everyone uses it, and buying it costs so much each year. It would be much more hygienic for everyone to be provided with toilet paper.
I 100% disagree with the idea of free sanitary projects
Tampons hurt me! It feels like pulling out what I imagine the after birth feeling like!😖😑
And that's why i don't use them
Tampons scare me 😖
Switch to a lighter flow one
you’re probably taking it out too soon or you didn’t have it far enough in. either way it’s considered “dry” and yes it hurts a lot. if you do it correct though, it’ll come out with ease

Switched to a diva cup almost a year ago and haven’t looked back. Takes a few times to get it in right but it’s comfortable and could literally last all day on a light-moderate day with no leaks. Only problem is if you have to dump it in a public place
Kayley yo
The sponge looked so uncomfortable omg
