I'm mostly black but my Father is half indian and I got the hairy gene from him. Not as hairy as a guy but definitely more than a regular womem. When I hit the teens, all the girls would talk about shaving, even some family members would discuss waxing etc.. I remember going with my Mum to get her eyebrows waxed from a very early age. So as you know I thought that's just what girls did. I started shaving in my early teens. I was embarrassed and never asked for advice, I had no idea what I was doing and encountered so many issues. rashes, ingrown hairs etc.. I'm 22 now and so much more confident and aware of my body. No one has to shave, it's a choice with what you feel most comfortable with. I haven't shaved my legs in over a year! And you know what I'm happy, liberated and do not give a hoot about who wants to judge me about it. Once you start living for yourself and appreciating life for what it is. These decisions won't be so hard to make. Do what you think is best for you :)

Shaving is a personal decision that no one else but your doctor should be a part of! I shave for the feeling and it makes me feel good and makes me feel feminine, but that’s just me! Other people may not, and that’s okay!

Exactly the same for me! The only reason i started shaving when i was in middle school was because some girl in gym class noticed my BARELY noticeable leg hairs and commented aloud how gross it was, while my sisters at home would always comment on how gross my hair was and ask why i didn't shave everywhere, including my privates, even going as far as to try waxing my arms. Really freaking stupid. Trust me, they will get rid of your eyebrow hair if they could(i mean all of it). I even started wearing make-up because of them. I NEVER even got a bad look from a guy, let alone a bad word. Guys like to focus on body shape, boobs and butt(not that i cared, but it was obvious). About a year later, i stopped living with them and realized how stupid it all was, so i stopped ALL OF IT. I don't get people sneering about me anymore, i even get compliments! But i realized it all has to do with the people you associate with in your life, the people you keep hanging around. The phrase, "You Are The Sum Of The 5 People Closest To You" is no joke. So don't keep those sisters too close, at least i didn't and don't. XD Far better off without their misguided influences.

I feel like Kristin has become so much more confident over the years. I remember the days when she talked about her weight in every video and people thought she was "annoying." That is really , really wrong . He seems not to understand borders - your hair wherever it is is none of his business. I’ve had a dad like yours ( hopefully worse than yours but wouldn’t bet on it) if you can somehow get in touch with a local woman’s shelter they can help you evaluate and see what actions you need to take to change your situation . Including mentally , he seems to have played a number on your mind of what’s normal and what’s ok ! He is out of line ! Be safe !

-Having hair is actually more hygienic. It's made to regulate sweat and heat.
-Why are you saying it's 'more feminine'? It's actually a consequence of female hormones and comes with womanhood (you don't have body hair as a child, well some do, but it's less frequent)...
@HOBO DUMPTY 8 is the average age for the begging of puberty in women. Many people have light body hair as a child though, it thickens and grows in more areas during puberty.
hair groth doesn't come from female hormones. It comes from male hormones like testosterone. Woman just have a lot less of these hormones.
Women have testosterone so how is it a male hormone? It's more prevalent in males but it exists in females so it's not inherently male

I shave my armpits because of “what is considered socially acceptable”... however if I have enough long sleeved tops for work, I will not shave. I have had people say shit about my arm hair and when I shaved it many people started asking "why?" and tbh I feel better without it but my scar is more prominent now (I have been told it looks like a white Caterpillar always nesting on my elbow ). So I have now realised I will always be self conscious about something because people will ALWAYS point everything out (I also have red spots on my arms / scarring from picking on my arm and I have had people point that out and ask why I have that )

I always have this thought process, like "I'm gonna feel sexy and shave my legs" and I get one leg in, and I'm thinking "screw this, I ain't trying to impress anyone"
I stoped shaving a little over a year ago because of my depression and lack of energy (so i wasn't taking the best care of myself). The fog has lifted these past few months so i decided to shave and i didn't really like it especially when the hair started to grow back it was so fkin itchy lol. Now i just trim here and there and i think i look better and i feel very free! I would totally recommend that everyone lets their hair grow out at least once in their lifetime. You may be pleasantly surprised by the experience!
