I’d love to be more zero waste, it’s just so hard! You don’t even think about how much trash you produce until you fill up your little 30 gallon trash can in just a few days
It's not that hard, honestly. I'm such a lazy person and if I can do it anyone can! Start with small simple swaps, like taking your own bags when you go to the grocery store, or your water bottle instead of the plastic ones. In the long run is better for everyone and you save a tons of money!
My zero waste mantra is “use what you have and do what you can”. Just make a couple small, simple swaps like reusable bags for grocery shopping and taking your own reusable water bottle with you. When you can, add in another change/swap. You’ll be surprised over time how many changes you can make. One of the biggest things is reusable packaging bulk food stores butchers shops for any meat products (bring your own reusable containers for the meat and tell them not to use the plastic coated butcher paper) and when you do have to buy something in a package make sure it's compostable.
Dayna Yates Yeah, that’s definitely happened with some coconut oil based deodorant I’ve made before lol! Just gotta try your best to keep the container upright during travel.

I'm in Canada. Recycling /composting is mandatory. We have CLEAR garbage bags so A-holes can't throw recyclables away and clear blue bags for the recycling. Why wouldn't you recycle anyway...you'd basically be poisoning your own habitat and water system???
I see people throwing out composting and recycling all the time, even on an Environment campus. Plus apartments and townhomes in my region don't have green bins yet - we can all aim to do better.
Nova Scotia Gal we also have to seperate the organics with the garbage. if there is a tiny bit of plastic in the organics bin, the garbage men wont take the whole bin and give you a note on what you did wrong, and then you have to wait another week until they come back again to pick it up.
Some of it's laziness. Some of it is sabotage. The other day I was at the mall, which just brought in these new recycling, glass and trash-trash containers. I happened to be leaving as they were emptying one, and it turns out it was all just one bin. Welcome to 'Merika, where even when you try, you're STILL DOING IT WRONG.
MsSpunkisam Really?! I’m surprised! Schmidt’s all natural deodorant is the only deodorant that I can use because it actually works and I’m allergic to the aluminum in all other deodorants. I hope you find one that works for you!
A suggestion to Ari:there is an eco friendly toothbrush by ecokiss. The base is made with bamboo and the Brussels are made by charcoal which whitens and is good for the environment
It was just raw honey not mixed with anything. It's harder to don in stores though and tends to be more expensive but as long as the package says raw then you're good!
I did this challenge but not Makeup just the face products and I used coconut oil and honey all week. I’m actually editing the video right this second haha. The honey was AMAZING
Hands down my favorite video! I worry a lot about my plastic use/consumption, and beauty is the worst/most difficult place to make no-waste changes. This video is valuable!
I love this kind of lady like , it had purpose and you guys learned something super valuable . Great job it inspired me to see how I can make my routine better as well . 😬❤️
It would be cool if they made it say like for face wash and body wash and shampoo and all that stuff like you would go to the store and get a reusable bottle and then when it goes out you go to the store and refill it and it will charge you for the amount you use to re fill it and then you do that over and over. That would be cool.
That Ari girl looks so much better with her hair now. She used to have these ridiculously short bangs and a weird haircut that didn't flatter her face. Made her look mean and snooty and uptight. Her hair now is very gentle and looks healthy. I wonder if it's because of the zero waste products. Whatever she's doing, it seems to be working for her.
Well done ladies! I'm so glad to see you embrace this concept. I remember the no-waste-for-30-days video. Ari did a great job with that. I've been a longtime recycler and reuser so was all onboard with the no-waste concept. I'm nowhere near that hardcore (worm bin, nope, my apologies to the Mother but just no) To see Ladylike make their own makeup and go low/no waste wow, most excellent! And they all looked great, too.
Agreed! It’s such an important kind of message. Not even being zero waste, but reducing the amount of waste. And I hope this inspired Freddie to start recycling because it’s heartbreaking to see how much of our recyclable products end up in the ocean instead of being converted into something else.
I hope she does too. Surprised me she doesn’t. Young women like the Ladylike group are roll models. They wield real power in people’s lives. Hopefully all of them came away with a broader view and a bulging recycling bin. :)
Brittany Fortune coconut oil is comodegenic, which basically means that it gets into your pores, which causes them to stretch and can give you acne and blackheads and it's just not good for your skin or hair.
Dzaeli Yup. Same goes for buying the beeswax they also used in the makeup. (You can order good stuff from Rose Mountain Herbs online if you really can't find a local place.) My mom and I also used it to make beeswax cotton wraps for food storage, so we don't have to use plastic wrap or tin foil anymore!
if it's shipped in cardboard then it's completely recyclable. the company really doesn't have a say in packaging and shipping regulations that are set by the post office.
Zero waste includes anything that can be recycled/composted/is biodegradable. So any glass, metal, and paper products/packaging is a-ok, and some plastics are recycleable, but many are not. Many zero wasters choose to avoid plastic as much as possible even if it is a type of plastic that is relatively easy to recycle. If you mean the air miles of shipping stuff, you can search locally for things or even make them yourself. Many companies who appeal to zero wasters use all post-consumer recycled shipping materials, and use compostable tape and shipping peanuts. There is no such thing as absolutely ZERO waste, all the gurus will tell you this, because you can’t control up the chain where waste happens. Even shipping via carrier pidgeon isn’t guaranteed to be zero waste because the person feeding them might use seeds that come in plastic bags 😜 The point is to reduce as much as possible the most harmful aspects of our modern lives ^^
Zero waste stuff is really hard for me, but I still try. I try using shampoo bars, bar soap, not using makeup, using jars, that sort of thing, recycling, upcycling plastic bags into plarn, that sort of thing.
The truth is, individuals make very little impact on the environmental. Industry is what's killing Earth. Yes we who go minimal anyway, but industries are the only ones who can truly make a difference.
I don't agree, it's supply and demand! Stop supporting those industries and they go out of business or listen to the consumers. Be the change you want to see, we are the only ones who actually can make a difference.
Au NATurel Vegan I understand that, my point is, if they are penalised or held responsible for the amount of plastics and other non desposable waste they produce, then they are incentivised to: 1. Do what Berlin does, and put a deposit on bottles and stuff (like 50 cents, which you get back if you recycle the bottle) Or 2: create disposable and more environmental friendly packaging. I mean company as a whole, not just specific ones I disagree with
Kate t Okay, I agree with that... but then don't say individuals make very little impact. We're fully responsible for our decisions, the companies will adjust to us as well. Complaining about it isn't doing anything, but stopping purchases will.
No you can teach your kids. The problem isn't having children, it's not teaching them to care about the planet and being a throw away consumerist. I'm a mom of 2 and I teach my kids to buy second hand , compost, use reusable bags etc.
@@HosCreates so true!!! I have 2 kids aswell and im always reminding them to care for the environment, reuse, recycle etc etc.. I am yet to move on from the basic plastic toothbrushes but oneday i hope!!
I totally agree with them! Honey used as a mask is the best thing ever! My skin has never felt so soft and it reduces the size of my zits when I break out. Thank you nature!
This is why I try and only buy things in containers that are recyclable. Sure it's not zero waste but I'm doing the best that I can for what works best for me.

"This looks like a piece of cheese, so i trust it"
She is hilarious!
91% of recycling isn’t actually recycled. It’s best to compost paper.
Nova Scotia Gal yess exactly! I'm in the falls. Ive always recycled. It makes it so much easier Tbh
THIS IS *A M E R I C A*
Some of it's laziness.

I wish there were links for the products. I'd like that deodorant.
Laura Mae Baker Schmidts deodorant! If your in the usa, Naturalhealthyconcepts.com ships it free!
You can get it from your closest Sprout's, Whole Foods, or online.
I know this is super later, but you can also find this deodorant at any Marshalls or tjmaxx store in different scents. I love them!!
I wish this could work for me!! I used this deodorant and I got a chemical burn :(
MsSpunkisam
Really?!
The base is made with bamboo and the Brussels are made by charcoal which whitens and is good for the environment
i actually have one :)
Georganics is great too, they have toothpaste and mouthwash in glass containers too!
Charcoal ruins your gums and can remove your emmanuel
Seasammee enamel?
Be careful using charcoal if you take medications though!
I wish they would have listed all the products and their names! Off to dig through the video! :)
I'm pretty sure all the products came from Package Free.
Kristen said she was going to *kohl the police*

No your not
That honey-cleanser made the girls' face glow. Recipe pls!
It was just raw honey not mixed with anything. It's harder to don in stores though and tends to be more expensive but as long as the package says raw then you're good!
Ingredients you will need: honey, raw
Instructions: put in jar and use
I did this challenge but not Makeup just the face products and I used coconut oil and honey all week. I’m actually editing the video right this second haha. The honey was AMAZING
The ingredient is......just raw honey
JourneytoYES it just RAW HONEY
I laughed when Kristin dropped the candle and Freddie bowled it very fast 9:44
Hands down my favorite video! I worry a lot about my plastic use/consumption, and beauty is the worst/most difficult place to make no-waste changes. This video is valuable!
I love this kind of lady like , it had purpose and you guys learned something super valuable . Great job it inspired me to see how I can make my routine better as well . 😬❤️
This is such a good idea to try out!
I bought a safety razor almost a year ago and it was such a good buy. I love it. I recommend them to every woman!
When I’m older I want to work with you guys! Everyone is like I wanna be a lawyer I wanna be a doctor im over here like I wanna work at Ladylike
Shook * buzzfeed*
4:16 “burn ten almonds ONE at a time” cuts to her burning three almonds at once like “oof I’m a rebel”😂
i am actually so excited for this video. also, i love minimalism and zero waste, it is so cool :)
Falalongkornz agreed! Her bangs made her look slightly odd and definitely snooty.
Oh my God coconut oil as moisturizer??? UGH THE CLOGGING OF THEIR PORES IS STRESSING ME OUTTT
Alexxis Butera wdym its so good for you
Brittany Fortune coconut oil is comodegenic, which basically means that it gets into your pores, which causes them to stretch and can give you acne and blackheads and it's just not good for your skin or hair.
Alexxis Butera oh my god , sorry im 13 and thats what my mom told me 😂😂😂 always listen to her 😂
what? coconut oil helps with my acne + scarring because it has regenerative properties as well.
Auri is so sweet! She seems like she would be a lovely friend.
About the honey... How do we save the BEES?!
Four-Eyed Koi organic honey. No preservatives (self preserving) or gmo done to it. Better for the bees.
stop using so many pesticides on commercial farms
Get some land, plant some orchards and start bee keeping.... unless you're allergic... then do not, under any circumstances, start bee keeping lol
by supporting local beekeepers who use sustainable beekeeping practices and buying their honey
Ladylike lives like Blair Waldorf for a week
Akriti Arora YES
“Alright this looks like a piece of cheese...so I trust it” lmao
Zero waste razors are my favorite I do get any ingrown hairs always get a close shave! I love it ❤
Reducing the consumption is much better and environmental friendly than just recycling. So go on and reduce the resources you consume
Unless that zero waste company sends the products by carrier pigeon... They're not "zero waste", but they ARE minimal waste.
Miss Raquel they're products are zero waste, how they get delivered isn't really up to them tbh
Miss Raquel PERIOD
That's to the company, we are talking about the product right noe
if it's shipped in cardboard then it's completely recyclable. the company really doesn't have a say in packaging and shipping regulations that are set by the post office.
Even shipping via carrier pidgeon isn’t guaranteed to be zero waste because the person feeding them might use seeds that come in plastic bags 😜
The point is to reduce as much as possible the most harmful aspects of our modern lives ^^
"Alright, this looks like a piece of cheese, so I trust it." -Kristen
This is so relatable.
Yep. We really need to start holding corporations responsible for they waste they produce
I don't agree, it's supply and demand! Stop supporting those industries and they go out of business or listen to the consumers. Be the change you want to see, we are the only ones who actually can make a difference.
Kate t you're responsible for your own purchases. Don't support companies that you don't agree with.
Au NATurel Vegan I understand that, my point is, if they are penalised or held responsible for the amount of plastics and other non desposable waste they produce, then they are incentivised to:
1. Do what Berlin does, and put a deposit on bottles and stuff (like 50 cents, which you get back if you recycle the bottle)
Or 2: create disposable and more environmental friendly packaging.
I mean company as a whole, not just specific ones I disagree with
Kate t Okay, I agree with that... but then don't say individuals make very little impact. We're fully responsible for our decisions, the companies will adjust to us as well. Complaining about it isn't doing anything, but stopping purchases will.
I don't even wanna say what that thumbnail looks like
Maddie Mulligan i think that was on purpose😂😂😂 cause buzzfeed is obsessed with periods apparently....:3
Unknown we know.....
Unknown yes I know, I was just saying what I thought it looked like
Maddie Mulligan Suurree
Unknown what is your problem?? Anyone can see she was just pointing out what it looked like.
Anyone else see the thumbnail and think "SPOOOON?!"
Nika Cornell yass gurl
My mom tried to do this but then she gave birth to me🤠
Oof
No you can teach your kids. The problem isn't having children, it's not teaching them to care about the planet and being a throw away consumerist. I'm a mom of 2 and I teach my kids to buy second hand , compost, use reusable bags etc.
Amanda H I think the joke was that she is trash
@@HosCreates so true!!! I have 2 kids aswell and im always reminding them to care for the environment, reuse, recycle etc etc..
I am yet to move on from the basic plastic toothbrushes but oneday i hope!!
THIS IS THE FUNNIEST EVERYONE GO HOME
😱OMG FREDDIE CURLS POPPINGGGGG ❤️❤️❤️
When I saw Freddie using coconut oil as a moisturizer, I died inside. Coconut oil clogs pores
Tina BTS for me, coconut oil makes my skin look soooo good and smooth. Never breaks me out.
I use coconut everywhere for years now.. to each their own!
I always had clogged pores and I actually notice them less now...
Tina BTS I only use it for my body not my face is that OK?
Tina BTS coconut oil is actually amazing for hair and skin. It's one of those things where you either love it or hate it.
Try guys and ladylike upload the same day?!?am I in heaven
I totally agree with them! Honey used as a mask is the best thing ever! My skin has never felt so soft and it reduces the size of my zits when I break out. Thank you nature!
raise awereness, yes girls, you go!
This is why I try and only buy things in containers that are recyclable. Sure it's not zero waste but I'm doing the best that I can for what works best for me.
