Hey Safiya, I'm not sure if you knew but part of the reason Thinx is kind of expensive is because part of each sell goes to a company in Uganda that makes reusable pads that can be sold at an affordable price to girls so they can go to school and not have to worry about dropping out because many can't go to school while on their periods due to lack of hygienic resources. Thinx also just launched a new program this year that is focused on educating young girls on human rights, sexual & reproductive health, and financial literacy & entrepreneurship. While their products are a little pricey, I find they work well and support a great cause! I usually have to change my tampon every hour or so and this brand really helps me ensure I don't leak if I can't get to a bathroom in time.

These would be great for women and young girls in third world countries who do not have access to disposable period products. Especially young girls who have to miss school during their periods because they dont have protection.
what I like about Thinx is that they give back, they support education about how our bodies work as well as donating period products so girls everywhere don't miss out because of period poverty. Well worth paying that bit extra 😉
@@lindadurning9938 yes but also consider the fact that these panties are reusable while pads and tampons are disposable, therefore more cost in the long-run and more waste to dispose of. I think if it gets manufactured in poor countries the cost can go down. The reason I would seriously consider spending teh money myself if more for the sustainability, in that there would be less waste. Pads are not recyclable.

After I pee on my period I always linger on the toilet for a few seconds in case a ton of blood starts gushing out. Just the other day, after lingering, I stood up confident that I was in the clear, but just as I was about to pull my pants back up a ton of blood just fell and splattered everywhere. It literally got on the walls it looked like a crime scene 😭

Well I couldn’t bear if they weren’t like him. My boyfriend doesn’t get embarrassed, I’ve told him what it’s like to have one. The one time he asked if I needed more pads while we were at the supermarket, I felt so appreciative that he thought of my needs that I bought some even though I may not have needed them.
My dad is perfectly cool with periods and talking about periods and I thank god for that 😂 like if I needed it I could call him and be like yo dad can you get me some tampons and he would be like yeah what kind I love my dad 😂❤️

I am SO glad that someone did an honest review of these. I know this vid is 6 years old now, so there's a ton more of these period panties out there from diff brands, but I've always wondered about them and yet too scared to actually try them. ClaraLobo273 I'll wear the Thinx hip-huggers with a tampon on my anticipated heaviest days (instead of having to wear a pad with the tampon), and then the rest of the days I can just manage to wear the underwear on its own! I only have the Thinx that can hold two tampons worth, bc I don't really feel like buying the thong really made sense for me... I think only you know what your body needs; it really just depends on one's own flow!
Personally my last few days are very spotty, so these are great for me! I only really bleed consistently for about 3 days, but the next few days after are difficult to predict and way too light for a tampon.

I wish I had these when I was in school! I was always terrified of going to the blackboard in front of my class in case I had blood on my butt (it happened more than once). I had a heavy flow and always wore a tampon and a pad, but the extra security these offer would have eased a LOT of my anxieties!
in case anyone is watching this to decide about purchasing some: after a few months, thinx start to stink really badly about an hour or two of wearing them even when they are completely clean. it almost feels like when they get heated up they release all the rank smells inside... I love not wearing a tampon but thinx are very difficult to use by themselves as they definitely don't hold that much. the idea of wearing them when you are almost done with your period or when you think you're about to get it is so awesome though. also, the lace lining at the top of the hiphuggers is very delicate and mine has ripped in quite a few places. I just got an organicup menstrual cup and I am absolutely loving it! it feels just as good if not better than a tampon and is surprisingly easy to use!!
I've had mine about a year. I've learned I have to occasionally put them in a bucket and soak them in diluted vinegar to get the smell out. I also pre-scrub the crotch with my hands and Dr. Bronner's soap before I put them in the washer. Mine don't smell as a result.

menstrual cup + period undies = life changing. I have not purchase pad, tampons or liners in 5 years I think. So, yes those products can seem expensive, but I would not be suprised to have saved hundreds of dollards since I purchased them.

I feel like these would be great for mainly sleeping and for when you're not sure if you're gonna start and you wanna play it safe without having to deal with uncomfortable pantyliners
so i use these thinx ones as my only period product (i have a couple spare pads though), and i guess i'll leave my review too? my least favorite is definitely the sport panties, they're not super cute and i don't like the waistband. i guess i have the same opinion on this as saf my main complaint about these is how long they take to dry. sometimes i've had them dry overnight and they still were moist in the morning, so i would definitely recommend getting around 4 pairs if you have a week long period. my favorite thing about these are how comfortable they are! the swimsuit material isn't really bothersome to me and these really stay dry. they're really nice to sleep in too! and they aren't super ugly so that's a plus. overall i've never had an accident with the period panties and they're really comfy and cute too. if you're like saf or me, i'd recommend getting 4 or 5 pairs of the hip huggers and maybe 1 or 2 thongs :)
I'd use these for the days when my period might be starting so I don't have to waste a pad. I'm moderately on time but I'm sometimes a day off so I'll wear a thin pad on days when I should be starting so I don't leak but it's annoying to do! These panties would be great for those days! Because they'd be more comfortable than a pad and if your period does start you don't have to worry about leaks or standing up from your chair and having a spot on your pants

I am a trans boy. I get my period because I have not yet started transitioning. This one month of the week gives me the most gender dysphioria ans makes me more depressed than normal because of my hormones acting up Now wearing a pad or tampon just makes it worse because it makes me feel...not normal. It makes me feel more feminine So I bought a pair of the period panties and I could not be happier. @@lindadurning9938 yes but also consider the fact that these panties are reusable while pads and tampons are disposable, therefore more cost in the long-run and more waste to dispose of. I think if it gets manufactured in poor countries the cost can go down. The reason I would seriously consider spending teh money myself if more for the sustainability, in that there would be less waste. Pads are not recyclable.

I only have the Thinx that can hold two tampons worth, bc I don't really feel like buying the thong really made sense for me... I think only you know what your body needs; it really just depends on one's own flow!
Personally my last few days are very spotty, so these are great for me! I only really bleed consistently for about 3 days, but the next few days after are difficult to predict and way too light for a tampon.

I wish I had these when I was in school! I was always terrified of going to the blackboard in front of my class in case I had blood on my butt (it happened more than once). I had a heavy flow and always wore a tampon and a pad, but the extra security these offer would have eased a LOT of my anxieties!
in case anyone is watching this to decide about purchasing some: after a few months, thinx start to stink really badly about an hour or two of wearing them even when they are completely clean. it almost feels like when they get heated up they release all the rank smells inside... I love not wearing a tampon but thinx are very difficult to use by themselves as they definitely don't hold that much. the idea of wearing them when you are almost done with your period or when you think you're about to get it is so awesome though. also, the lace lining at the top of the hiphuggers is very delicate and mine has ripped in quite a few places.

I've had mine about a year. I've learned I have to occasionally put them in a bucket and soak them in diluted vinegar to get the smell out. I also pre-scrub the crotch with my hands and Dr. Bronner's soap before I put them in the washer. Mine don't smell as a result.

my least favorite is definitely the sport panties, they're not super cute and i don't like the waistband. i guess i have the same opinion on this as saf
my main complaint about these is how long they take to dry. sometimes i've had them dry overnight and they still were moist in the morning, so i would definitely recommend getting around 4 pairs if you have a week long period.
my favorite thing about these are how comfortable they are! the swimsuit material isn't really bothersome to me and these really stay dry. they're really nice to sleep in too! and they aren't super ugly so that's a plus.
overall i've never had an accident with the period panties and they're really comfy and cute too. if you're like saf or me, i'd recommend getting 4 or 5 pairs of the hip huggers and maybe 1 or 2 thongs :)

I'd use these for the days when my period might be starting so I don't have to waste a pad. I'm moderately on time but I'm sometimes a day off so I'll wear a thin pad on days when I should be starting so I don't leak but it's annoying to do! These panties would be great for those days! Because they'd be more comfortable than a pad and if your period does start you don't have to worry about leaks or standing up from your chair and having a spot on your pants
+Luna Moon Except that they move around like crazy and never stay put even with just walking around, never mind more vigorous activity, and you have to constantly do laundry.... They're worth a try since a fee people seem to like them, but to me it's obvious why they've never become very popular. But then, I've met people who tried cups and didn't like them, while to me they were an amazing revelation.

So I bought a pair of the period panties and I could not be happier. It doesn't feel like I'm wearing anything and theyre super comfortable so it doesn't feel like I'm wearing panties
