Best video out there regarding the install of this shifter! This video made my install so much easier. Thanks a lot for taking the time to do this. Pure excellence.
Dude the camera angles on this video are just 😘 * chefs kiss* I’m not very car savvy but I completely understood the install thanks 🏎💨
You're welcome, glad to help my dude 🤘🏻💪🏻
This actually gives me the courage to be able to do this myself! Thanks!!
Nice install! Glad you didn't have to remove the drive shaft to put it in too.
Yea. All in all it worked out pretty well.
Thanks for the video on the install, definitely helped me get mine in yesterday. Hardest part for me was just getting the new assembly down the hole lol. Once I got it in i couldn't get the long arm that extends outward into place so I had to lower the transmission a little by loosening the bolts on the transmission support bracket.
How do you feel about the shifter at this time? Do you feel like it has any sort of break-in period where after a while it smooths out?
Glad I found this the exact same shifter showed up at my door about 3 days ago from Carroll Shelby and you saved me the trouble of reading the instructions, Just kidding, don't crank the shifter ball all the way down and split it in two they won't cover that anymore. Hope you get your clutch sorted out soon.
Thanks! Hope you like the shifter. 👍🏻
Thanks for this video! How did you have the car lifted? 2 jacks, 4 jacks? I have ramps that I typically use but didn’t know if the car needed to be level. Thanks!
Mr Ry the car guy, is there a water valve on the xterra engine that we have to replace as well? My 06 has an over heating problem and I have replaced the usual cooling system problems. Thanks for the videos, you are a big help.
Good install video... how you like it now that you have been driving with it for a few months?
Hey I just installed my mgw shifter I absolutely love it besides, do you hear more noise at idle that’s coming from the transmission do you get the same thing with yours like a rattle/tech hello
Hello brother thanks for the video. I also am having the exact same shifting issue with my 2008 v6. Its "crunchy" and sometimes refuses to go into first and reverse while running. Funnily enough if I give the car some gas while stationery, it will actually shift right into first no problem. Kind of strange that I need to rev the engine while stationary to get into first. Did you figure out what was wrong with your mustang?
This a great install video. Did you do this on 2 or 4 Jack stands?
What's the point of an adjustable linkage? Does it shorten/lengthen the throw of the shifts?
Have you done a video of installing long tube headers???
Eh, not really. I installed long tube headers but I did it when I took my heads out. So not the same thing. Sorry about that
@@Rythecarguy awww ur just super thorough with ur vids and good quality! Thanks for doing so much for us though
@@Rythecarguy I'm going to do exactly what u did on your timing chain vid and slide them in. I have to do mine anyways and what a better time
Will we get to see a transmission video?
I'm sorry. You will not. Ditched that ride a while ago
How notchy is this shifter? My friend’s FRS has a super notchy shifter, after feeling it I went and manual swapped my S197. I’ve got the stock shifter on it now but I’m torn between the Barton and mgw
I got rid of this car a while ago but I remember it being pretty notchy. I would say on a scale of 0 to 10 I would give it a 7.
@@Rythecarguy Sweet, I’ll order it then. And damn, I always enjoyed working on something and seeing you had a video on it.
haven’t seen the stang on the channel in a long time, everything okay?
All gone my dude. Got rid of it not long after this video was released.
@@Rythecarguy i’m sorry to hear that, what was the reason why?
The transmission is not damaged if you make changes like this in an automatic car?
You mean changing the shifter knob?
@@Rythecarguy Yes, it wouldn't be damaged if in a 2008 automatic mustang I made the changes as in a manual, would nothing happen to it? Could it damage the transmission?
@@alecelta1029 no, especially in an automatic, changing the knob should not damage the transmission whatsoever
@@Rythecarguy that is to say that in my automatic 2008 mustang there is no risk of using it as a manual?
@@alecelta1029 I don't know what you mean.
Should the gears feel a little stiffer?
The shifting will, not the gears themselves
@@Rythecarguy I’m getting a 2006 and it has the short shifter. I previously owned a 2007 and the shifting was much smoother (it was stock) can the short shifter be removed? Or is there a way to make the short shifter smoother? I really prefer it.
@@fabiandelagarza3454 not that I know of the short shifter is just really really notchy
Does it fit the 05-09 v6’s?
Good job btw
Sure will! Some model and everything.
Thanks!

😆
Your so damn good with presenting information. Handsome as well. 😁
Why thank you. :D
@@Rythecarguy Your very welcome. About 4 years ago when you started your channel with the Xterra, you had a patreon page. I gave you $40 and you sent me the t-shirt, "don't replace, repair". I still have it and am so glad you've excelled on your videos and still have a humble approach to your audience. Yup, I'm a fan and your channel has helped me in keeping my Xterra awesome... Have a great new year Ryan!🍵
