I think bulbs give you the most bang for your buck and are worth buying quality bulbs. Very timely video ,just added to my order. Thanks for the tip on planting under trees.

I buy my Spring bulbs end of season, locally, so get the blow out prices. As long as ground is not frozen, late is OK. I have to be frugal. But it works.

Georgie we were told throw your bulbs up in the air and where they land is where you plant them, for a natural look. You are so right about that no garden is maintenance free. I heard someone say on youtube that they were going to plant a low maintenance cottage garden, I had to laugh. I have a cottage garden and it definitely isn’t low maintenance. The bulbs are going to look beautiful when in flower.

lol - the idea of throw in the air is excellent but goodness the work of digging all those individual holes - and I would immediately lose half of them xxx

I love bulb planting time. Just starting to get mine together. Always makes me think after Christmas there could be a little something like snowdrops popping up! xx

Here in zone 7b Northern California foothills there are deer everywhere. There are also lots of squirrels. Neither have ever eaten even one of the thousands of daffodils planted in the landscape. Tulips, Dutch iris, lilies, gladiolus and dahlias are prey delicacies. Even worse are the gophers, which you are so fortunate to not have in England and Ireland. All of the above mentioned bulbs and corms I plant in pots of all sizes, including 1,000 gallon Smartpots. The daffodils must definitely be toxic cause the gophers don't even move them. Thanks for your encouragement. My daffodils arrive next week..

Note: The Smartpots are only 100 gallon.

Great video, I need to get my behind in gear and plant bulbs on quite a large area and I’m just putting it off because I just think it’s going to take me too long. You have just shrunk the task in hand with your advice so there is no excuse. I might have to be a bit careful as soggy west of Ireland but if I don’t get them in there’s no chance so thank you.

I like your idea of putting the Fritillaria Persica in pots, however, Peter Nyssen's product details say that they are not suitable. Have you put them in pots before? Thanks and love your channel.

I've never grown them before - they are very expensive! in the end we put them in the bed beside the back door - dry, pretty shallow soil though so not much different from a pot x
