  • Flower farmer and florist Georgie Newbery is beginning to consider what she'll grow in her cut flower fields next season. She's got together with her friend and colleague Ben of www.higgledygarden.com to curate a selection of flowers which make a really beautiful AND useful mix of flowers for cutting from next spring into early summer. She'll be sowing this mix at her online session in September so do book a place then, but in the meantime, if you're in the UK do order this mix which is a cool blues and whites combination with a tiny bit of warmth from lilac and pink and a dash of lemon. It's often difficult to choose when faced with the whole list of a seed catalogue - Georgie helps you choose what to sow here, and takes you through the considerations which mean she's picked these varieties over others.

Surviving this horrible hot summer is my 1st goal. Then comes moving to a more temperate climate. However, I have already ordered and received my seeds. I will be ready

The seed heads from the nigella are also beautiful .. and perfect to use for structure. Thinking and visualizing this color palette I
Just bought myself some Phlox paniculata Donau and Phlox paniculata 'Flame Blue'.

Very useful information, ordered some biennials from Higgledy earlier this year (after your recommendation) they're coming along lovely, can't make my mind up which bundle to buy the 'Georgie Newbery mix' or the 'Higgers & Hinks Mix'? May end up purchasing both!! (keep the competition fair) lol, as always thank you for sharing.

Im getting married on the 27th May next year in Kent, would love to use these for flowers. When should I plant these to get them ready in time please? Or would they not flower in time for late May? Thanks.

Depends on the spring we have: warm, few frosts, plenty of sunshine and you might find a good few in flowers: cold, frosty nights in April, dry and it might not work. If you have access to a poly tunnel you will deff have them for then. xxx

Also, this year I grew cerinthy, and for some reason they are very short. Just like my bells of Ireland were last year. Any idea why?
