Lovely wonky wicker work! Did you know that the Vikings always had big wreaths on their doors and in their houses when they celebrated their festival of Yule? That's where we got this tradition from - and the round shape of the wreath is very important, as it signifies the year coming full circle - fascinating!
I love how the fresh and dried is like a multi-generational family under the same roof. The fresh, pristine young buds accompanied by the withered, wizened elderly seedheads and other finery.
I don't think I have ever giggled so much through one of your videos as I did this one! Gee Georgie-you can be so funny:):). You pack your van the way I do a suitcase....now going out to clip some bay and have a good snort!
I love it too!! It's just how I want my wreaths and arrangements to look and it's how I make mine. Natural, unruly and beautiful. I could watch you in your workshop for hours and have done!
Loved the wreath Georgie. I too dislike the darkness, but as from this week when its the Winter Solstice, it gets lighter by 2mins 7secs each day and by the 18th January we have a whole hour more of lightness. Hooray!!! I've been out this morning and the snowdrops are popping through. xxx
Beautiful 😍. I made my very first wreath today because they had pruned a hedge of evergreens in the green space in our village where I sometimes take my dog. I say pruned to be polite, hacked, better describes the massacre. So dog in one hand, branches in the other we trudged back home in the doom and gloom to have some fun. I thoroughly enjoyed the process but it's no work of art I can tell you 😅 between you and I, it took far longer than an hour. I too get so excited at the thought of the approaching winter solstice and the lengthening days ❤ I thank the heavens for people like you who put these ideas in our heads and make us have a go, a very pleasant moment. Thanks for sharing 😊
Just found this tonight! Lovely and sustainable too! Hope it doesn't snow tonight as I will go into my garden to forage more branches etc Thank you Georgie. You are a great inspirer!
Beautiful! Like a piece of art, actually. So unique and beautiful. I made a large table arrangement for my brother’s Christmas party using your approach as inspiration, with only materials from my garden and blowdown foraged from nearby parks. It’s rather a freeing of the spirit sort of thing! I didn’t worry about formality, just focused on flow and natural / complementary combinations. I think it turned out well and far less stressful for sure. I’ll have to rewatch your garland-making video because I’d like to get away from the wire gage usage when I make garlands. Love your explanations of the countryside and history.
I love the wreath. Years ago, I went to a place called "Flower Camp" in Virginia, USA. It was a getaway to learn flower arranging using flowers from your own garden. Nearby, there was a willow grower called "Rosemary's Pussy Farm." I couldn't make that up if I tried.
Autistic authentic yes please... But what I like most is when you get a little philosophical...combined with historical knowledge. We are a cheese country, the Netherlands. Greetings from the Dutch mountains.
So interesting to hear about the origins of chalk and cheese. I’m originally from leafy Surrey and now firmly planted in Sussex. It never ceases to amaze me the differences between these two counties, that’s what is so great about this country, our oddities and quirks. I shall gather as much foraged twiggery as I can and fashion a circle. Thanks so much yet again..I bought you a coffee ☕️ x
Oh the wreath definitely looked better on your door it’s lovely. Hope those sticky out twigs didn’t take anyone’s eye out though lol xx Ps ..roll on Christmas ha ha!
You are a practical philosopher, Georgie. Again, I love your videos. I'm in awe of you. LOL. And the wreath is breathtaking! I decided I will grow willow (some small variety that will fit in a corner of my little yard) next year, so I can have my own material for wreathmaking. Do share your podcast with the Australian person you mentioned, so I can go watch it.
So full of movement and life. I need to get some willow ASAP! I love her on the wall but she really stood out on your beautiful teal door! I plan on joining soon. You are so generous in the way you share how you make your creations. Even with how you tie the bunches on!
I Like that wreaths symbolise everlasting life..very appropriate with dried and fresh greens. Never knew about chalk and cheese, that's interesting. I'll try to upload mine to instagram, but its certainly not 30 stems, more like 135 😂
I made a low table centrepiece without flowers - I used fir, pine, cedar of various colours and red branches from a fetter bush. With a few pine cones. Love it! And the idea of making it low as to not block the people across the table came from you! Thank you - great idea. 🎄
I really like that reef thanks for showing us I'm going to make some next year from the stuff from the park I have the 30 gardens memorial Park in Pennsylvania
Love this! Georgie, you have so inspired me with your videos. Your practical instruction along with your creativity, wit and environmental empathy, just draws me in. I have created "twiggery pokery" for Thanksgiving and for Christmas, using found materials from my garden. I love this natural yet beautiful way of creating arrangements. No superstition here, but a deep love for all created things. Thank you for these wonderful videos! I look forward to many more!
Georgie, you started to tell us about the variety of variegated holly you were using but was side tracked about ‘using your noodle’! Please can you tell us the variety?
Beautiful wreath! I love how it’s all natural and from the garden. Never made one before but I have looked at a few videos on other channels and they all used florist wire which I don’t have but I have plenty of strong garden string so will give it a go. My holly never has berries 😢 but I have plenty of honesty, sea holly etc which you have shown to be lovely in a wreath. May even add a bit of dock which I also have plenty of 🤭 Merry Christmas ☃
Hello! Merry Christmas to you too. Question: In one of the videos you made with your mom, she showed a cold catcher for “killing” frost in her greenhouse. Can you tell me the manufacturer and the name of the item? Thanks so much.
Love the beautiful eco wreath, no wire to fish out of the compost when it returns to nature. Looks beautiful against the blue door, though I might rotate it 30 degrees or so clockwise, to make it less symmetrical, put the bushier part with the dried flowers mostly on the right side, to give it a livelier sense of a wheel in motion. Different strokes ...
I'm not telling you what your 'noodle' (or 'Nudel') would be in Austria.... Just a hint: Men have it, women don't. So I was confused for a moment, then laughing quite a bit.

Wild, eccentric, romantic and it's all compostable. A beauty.
thank you x

I did a wreath just using ivy this year and I like the simpliity. Georgie still talks to elder trees. Enjoy the darkness!
simple ivy would be stunning x

Very natural and creative.
Thank you! 😊 x
Haha, noodle is brain in Australia too. But I was a 90's kid watching P, B and Jay cartoons. 😂
gotta be careful what I say - English means many different things around the world x

Georgie, you started to tell us about the variety of variegated holly you were using but was side tracked about ‘using your noodle’! Please can you tell us the variety?
lol - sorry - holly Golden King x
Your cap is stunning! Can you let us know how and where you acquired it!

your holly must be a male - you need a female to go with the male and then you might get berries x
Beautiful work. If I have time I’ll have a go. Have a Happy Christmas
and to you x
Hello! Merry Christmas to you too. Question: In one of the videos you made with your mom, she showed a cold catcher for “killing” frost in her greenhouse. Can you tell me the manufacturer and the name of the item? Thanks so much.
mum's frost catcher is as old as time - I'm sure if you google frost heaters for greenhouses you'll find a good option x
❤
Noodle is your brain in America, too. You can even use it as a verb ❤
I love that - to noodle xxx
As in mulling something over. Do you say mulling? It can also just mean your head ❤

Thank you! 😊 - and yes you can spend hours deciding once it's made which section should be top xxx
Lovely and natural. I saw a lady on u tube make a wreath with a hot glue gun .. I shuddered😫
lol - I don't know how glue guns work xxx
I am Australian and noodle to me is Brain not bum...

I'm not telling you what your 'noodle' (or 'Nudel') would be in Austria.... Just a hint: Men have it, women don't. So I was confused for a moment, then laughing quite a bit.
