Is 300 TOO MANY spring bulbs?

  • Our massive spring bulb haul has finally arrived and we're going through them before we plant.
OK so confession, we ordered way more than we thought we had, but I guarantee there is space for every one of them and these bulbs will make the garden look spectacular from March to June.
We've got tulips, crocuses, daffodils, iris, anemones and more.
This is how you get that stunning display in spring!
A few things to be aware of though, you don't want to plant your bulbs too soon as you don't want them sprouting early and then winter causing damage to the new shoots. Here in Scotland, we plant ours usually mid-October to Late November. That gives them some time in the ground to settle and start growing some roots, but they are less likely to put out tender green shoots.

Planting bulbs in the rain: • Planting spring bulbs,...
We're going to look at some of the mishaps in the greenhouse and garden, from sun-scald to damaged aubergines and even at plants that we just couldn't water enough. Things go wrong in the garden all the time and it's ok.

Fun video. Had a wee look on Farmer Gracy, so many beautiful bulbs.
It was planting bulbs two years ago that got me hooked on gardening.
My big brother had died at the end of September & needing something to look forward to I planted up a few bulb lasagnes.
Since then I have sown seeds, tubers & bulbs galore.
Gardening helped me through the dark days of grief.
Sitting in the garden watching the Bees going from flower to flower, knowing that I played a part in that life cycle is deeply humbling.
Thank you for another fabulous video ladies 😊

😂2 years ago I planted rare daffodils (595) of them all over the property along with 300 more other bulbs for the most amazing spring/summer flower show. This year I’m chomping at the bit to get my garlic bulbs in, but also looking to put more iris in the ground. You can never have enough flowers! Thanks for reminding us not to be inpatient ❤

My neighbours think I am nutso because over the years, I have planted 100’s and 100’s of bulbs every fall. This past autumn, I split all my naturalized bulbs and planted the excess all over town on city property (fortunately the city appreciates it rather than arresting me 😝).

Last year I ordered fairly late. I was nervous as a cat waiting for the bulbs because it was not getting any warmer. They arrived and I promptly ripped them open and ran outside and ‘Thunk’-that was the sound of me digging frozen ground 😂
I frantically ran around poking the sandy soil with disbelief and the thought of what the heck was I going to do with all these bulbs if I couldn’t find a place to dig? Thankfully I chipped away at some semi frozen areas and a few that were still soft. Whew!
Now the bad news. I have never had a vole or ever seen one. Well, the cute thing we seen midwinter wreaked havoc on all of the blue flower bulbs-RATS! Not a one came up and the voles left the typical trail on top of the soil. I hope we got rid of them as they are quite destructive. I’ve never had anything ever eat bulbs and we use to have numerous gophers.
Hoping to see larger spring blooms in the second year.
I would like to add some bonemeal now, but don’t want to attract the vermin and I’ve seen shrews and they like bones.
I recently seen you had a storm and wind, hope all is well.

I'd love to do this in our few planters around but not sure our cold winters in Ontario wont freeze them out. I think we are actually similar "zones" but we definately get snow here ;) Fab video!. Im awaiting my order here as well. and totally get how you feel about the daff's, but very true, one of the first signs of spring.
