It’s finally here! I’ve been wanting to make this video for the longest time! This was a 6-month project! Give it a thumbs up and let me know what you think in the comments. Enjoy this week’s video :)
Excellent! I fully support entrepreneurship, creativity, and innovation. If you ever want some philosophical content, let me know. I'm an Objectivist philosopher advocating individual rights, free market capitalism, and rational self-interest. Keep up the good work and good premises.
This is a very unique and nice desk setup. Functional as well. Many youtubers have all the same "standard" desk setups, but yours just stands out in a very good way 😀 Thanks for sharing, it's very inspiring.
Love that desk and bookcase. I saw it a while back at a furniture store, but I messed up showing it to my wife. She "suggested" finding a combo that was a little more economical. Primarily because I needed two bookcases. But great choice, and great video.
Im currently in the process of building my own desk and that shelf at the back to hide the cables is genius, I'm going to copy it.Nice video and your setup is beautiful. Thanks
For your laptop, to make it easier to connect I would recommend adding two small holes to put the cables through so that you don't have to reach under your desk to grab them. You can also use binder clips for this.
Have watched this video so many times. Literally one of my favourites that I have ever seen on RUclips. Would love to have a similar desk setup and create cool videos and edits like this. Nice one man.
You may have already done this... however, I'd suggest a monitor with USB C, you may be able to ditch the dock and use just the USB C cable from the monitor for everything instead, you could just attach a hub to the monitor via usb, LG make a bunch of monitors with this functionality. I'd also suggest a quality VESA mount to get a bit of desk space back and for more versatility in terms of monitor movement.
Man I love videos like these. It's fun finding stuff that inspires us... That shelf behind the desk just blew me away for a custom desk I'm building. DEFINITELY implementing that! :D
I have similar work station. I also use USB hub switch which can be connected to two laptops in same time, and pressing button will move plugged USB devices to another laptop.
HEY! I didn't read through the comments, but I found the lamp! Its called a Uttermost 29398-1 Ledro 15 inch 60 watt Concrete Lamp. It goes for $140.80 on Lighting New York. Also! Great video!
I came across this desk on wayfair and hoped someone had done a review video, So glad out of everyone who could have done a review it was you. I don't think it could have been executed better from anyone else. I'm not doing much of any video editing but I am a gamer who started streaming & does occasional audio production for my own enjoyment. That back shelf space was the exact thing I was thinking of doing with my desk once I receive mine. I'm also happy to see you mounted a slider under your desk because that's where I am going to mount my gaming PC. Great video, definitely worth the thumbs up & sub. cheers
Love the desk setup and overall the video but next time you paint first start with the edges with the paint brush. If not confident to paint the edges use the painter’s tape to make that nice crisp edge. Then you start the paint roller but get enough paint and go up and down close to the moulding not like the small up and down paint you did before. It helps to cover the wall and more time efficient. It’s helped me get things done easily since painting for a couple of years now
I thought I was the only one that combines a trackpad and mouse on my desktop! I also like having the trackpad on my left that I occasionally use to relieve the pressure on my right hound from mousing for too long.
ALWAYS keep a regular backup of your hard disks! Use a program (like "Allway Sync") that looks what files/directories are deleted/added or changed and only these will be changed on the backup disk and it will leave the rest as it is. This means that the backup will not take long.
@@ZackKravits Zack! Your video is the first that I've seen that uses this desk, which I've been thinking about buying for a while now, so obviously I've got a question. Do you think I'd have any problems with the desk if I opted not to install the middle drawer? My plan involves mounting the CalDigit dock in that spot and using a hole saw to make a cable pass through to the back shelf.
I don't know if it's bc I'm blazed rn but great vid. Like the audio was incredible, music and voiceover, and everything was so pleasant to look at. It was actually relaxing af.
You may wanna get a patterned glass board. That one is the only part I don’t feel perfect. Other than that love it! I’m going to take your idea and get a similar set
Very nice and clean set up. What I miss are some decent speakers. Also for a better workflow I would recommend a second screen or ultra wide screen. You will need some extra puzzling to get this on your desk the way you want it.
Thanks a lot! :) Those are two things that I really want to pick up next. I mentioned that I’d be getting an ultra wide. And I’ll have to pick that up before I get speakers. Hopefully it will fit
Very inspiring. I’m gonna get that desk. Next time you paint, it’s easier if you do the trim first and really load up the roller with paint and then roll it on the tray a few times so it doesn’t drip but when you roll on the wall it should slide easily and you should make long strokes in a W pattern. But looked good at the end. Just easier on the hands and more even if you do it that way.. thanks for the video inspiration!
What an incredible Video! You really did put a lot of effort into this and so great that you also filmed the process from the starting point. I also love the quality of your voice recording, that was so much better than in so many other videos I usually see on RUclips. Also many inspirational points with the white board and the open space above your work place, thank you for creating this video!
Nice, I find half the fun is the creative journey of developing the space for minimal distraction, the dock really helps with that, I love your space, the cable management shelf is f'in sweet. Carl Newport would have us in an empty room with a beanbag and a laptop right? Deep focus all the way! Good job.
Very nice office space! We just bought our first house with a dedicated office area and I've been looking for ideas while combing through a ton of videos. One thing I'd suggest to people too is if someone is building their home studio or office and not sure on how something would look then take some time to use any of the free tools out there to build a 3D concept of your space. For instance you can use a program like Blender and a tape measure to get the exact measurements of your space and start to block in where you want things to go without spending the initial money and not like it later. @Zack: I'd be happy to share more info here if you're cool with that. Thank you for the tip on Living Spaces too! Couches, coffee tables and TV stands get crazy expensive really fast and for lackluster quality. Seeing "real wood" options was a welcome surprise. Already added them to my list of places to visit locally.
Looks absolutely amazing! The only thing I would change is the bulb for the desk lamp. I think a retro led bulb (maybe there are also smart ones with changing colour possibilities out there) would fit the aesthetics much better.
Hi. Just saw your video. Its a nice result, but those 2 white papers in the wall kinda break the mood. Why dont replace them by a chalk board without edges, and that way only the white chalk writing pops up?
Honestly me too. But I kept the desk away from the wall about an inch. Maybe a little less and I haven’t seen a problem. And I’ve been on this setup for about 3ish months now
00:12 It's not a monitor anymore, it's a f mirror. You'll get eye pain quickly, macbook use those kind to make the image more vivid, but it's only a trick. It's more an advice than a critic. I used this kind, back when I worked on a laptop, and get massiv eye pain. To pick up a good monitor, check for those who doesn't reflect lights, and THEN look for all the technical spec. + free advice, natural light should be on your side!!! not behind you (like on this video) nor in front of you. But as sun move, one should pivot the monitor according to the sun throught out the day (morning/lunch/afternoon). You should do a video about it. Keep up the good work!
I have a two-part question. First, can someone be bored with their current office set up even if he/she has everything, and second have you been in this situation like this before? If so how do you get motivated to stay comfortable with what you have w/o going overboard?
Cool setup. Nice use of the rear shelf to hide away accesories. This is the 2nd office setup video I see today where photo equipment is displayed on open shelves. If they're old & not used anymore OK. But if they are currently being used...why let them collect anymore dust than they need? I just don't get that. 😑
I’m coming to realization that i’m tired of paying for 120$ desks that get scuffed up to easily. Might as well just pay for a desk that’ll last like 5 years instead of 1-2. Also never getting a black desk again, to bland and so much fucking dust
Cool video, very interesting! But one thing I would like to comment on is putting the camera on MF instead of AF-C while doing timelapses so not to get that jittering.
Love the shelf on the back for cable management, hard drives etc. I definitely recommend at least 2+ screens. Can't manage with just one. Also I do prefer non gloss screens.

Zack Kravits so nice 😍love the inspo. Thank you 🙏🏻
Hey. Great setup. Can you just share what exactly you have that is connected to the dock?
To be able to make a real digital space you must detach yourself from those old practices of using wood or other material that damages nature
The wall colour makes it look 10x better
This video gave me a lot of peace.

What’s the name of that gray you painted on your wall?
One minor tweak suggestion: Paint the base of the lightbulb black or gray.
Looks like a nice set up!
