Hello Kalle! I am 16 years old and I have started to feel all the suffocating and artificiality of city life and the weight of our mechanical lives quite a lot over the last few years (I guess the effects of starting to grow up!) and I believe we belong to Mother Nature for million reasons. And i saw your videos today and they were like some kind of therapy to me. "This is exactly what i want" i thought. I cannot wait to escape from concrete and live in the extraordinary beauties of nature in the future like you. I just wanted to thank you and Christine for sharing your beautiful story :) Lots of love from İstanbul💖

Hello, i read your post and feel instantly sad.
I did not know Istanbul or Turkey are mechanical, artificial and a concrete nightmare, evoluated like the west.
I was a child, when my father bought a second hand truck and went to the middle east ( transporting goods ). My mother and me ( daughter ) went with him, living in the truck. I was 3 years old allmost and up to allmost 9 years old, and then went to school in Belgium. We where in Zwitserland first.
I remember Istanbul, Turkey and other countries in the middle east not as modern like we knew. Totally not. At all! How older i get, how more i think about the past, remembering the simplicity, + rough nature in all shapes and forms. Totally different, than Zwitserland. I long to feel the air, sand, the skies, deserts, mountains and the fact, there was not this modern concrete world. I could see, where life began 1000's of years ago.
So..., it makes me heartbroken sad, that even there everything is changing just in a few years.
Everything seems to change so drastically, dramatically, irreversibly.
The mechanical world you're describing is not made for humans and not for any animal. Life is so artificial and unnatural, where the feeling of 'belonging' is not there anymore. I look where i live and think...this is not a life. It feels like dying from the inside and outside without ever lived life, like it was upon a long time ago.
We humans/animals are made to live, like nature intended and build us all on this planet, to function in a certain way.
I search a place to belong.... Belonging to people also.
Seeing this videos feels closer to nature, to people. Even looking at this beautiful dogs makes you think, that they are happier and have a feeling of 'belonging'.
If you are getting sick in your heart in Istanbul...i am shure, in Turkey are places where nature is still beautiful, where nature still rules.
Learning skills to survive there is key.
Away from artificially life, lights, enclosing bricks and walls, mechanical evolution. Starting a proyect, to live of grid with own well water or mountain water.
I hope you can save money, working to collect money to buy a cabin somewhere.
Do not forget your real lifepath. Your body allways tells the truth ( mostly ) and your instinct/gut feeling is you inner voice, trying to push you, to react a certain way, think a certain way and direct you.
I hope you find a way, to live like you need, to stay sane and healthier and feel in your 'element'.
      Kind wishes🍀
      Bless you much.

Kalle, I laughed out loud when you said that living in your cabin in the woods can be a pain in the ass! Yep! It toally can be! I live off grid in a tiny cabin, but when I look out my kitchen window at the mountains, I always think how blessed I am to live where most people only get to vacation.

I am 54 years old and more so now than at any time in my life the message in this video really speaks to me. It's so easy to be absorbed by the expectations of societal standards, to fall into the pattern of obligation and the burden of responsibility. I wish these types of life choices and wisdom were more openly discussed, or even taught earlier in life. Thank you for the discount code, I wish I'd done this sooner but I am finally a premium Curiosity subscriber.

Hearing you talk about how the obstacles on your way let’s you know if it’s really something you want that you are fighting for, is just soooo accurate!! I struggled for 5 months from I found my cabin till I was able to buy it! You have NO IDEA all the struggles and obstacles I had to go through to get there, and the worries that someone else would buy it before I was able to get everything ready!! I almost gave up on the way, but the moment I got the keys 🔑 to my very own cabin is indescribable 🥰🙏🏻🌲
You have such a great way of describing things that are recognizable for people, and that’s one of the best things about your videos in my opinion! Keep them coming!! 🤩And the bloopers 😅🤣🤣🤣 My drone has had it’s fair share of beatings too🙈 but still going strong 💪🏻😅😁 Thanks for another lovely video! Retiring early, before age sixty, was the happiest thing I ever did. I live with less, in a 162 year old house (that needs work). But I'm surrounded by books, and art, and I have classical music, and old movies to watch. No television. The ringer on my phone is always turned off. Contentment.
My current project is planting my back yard, for the birds, bees, butterflies, bats, and bunnies.

And then the feeling of freedom and happiness when you've finally made it and finally to be your own boss and to have time for a creative and simple life, very close to nature. I chose this lifestyle 8 years ago and I do not regret it!!
Thank you Kalle for inspiring people to go their own way. I also really like your podcast!! Inspiring and interesting. I am looking forward to every new episode :-) And: I can totaly relate to the feeling of magic for running water, shower and toilet.😅 It feels always like that after living some days or weeks of grid. Love the video as always ❤ I'm a 64 yr old woman who had the privilege of living with an elderly woman after her husband died to help take care of her farm animals and take her to her doctor's appointments and for food. That was a bit of a learning experience for me from going from hot showers to no hot water and a wood cook stove and another one in the living room for heat in an old farm house. I'd already worked on a farm as a young kid growing up so that wasn't so bad and I'd already helped my older brother with wood but never been responsible for an older lady and wood stoves. I love to split wood so that's no big deal. And I love your new axe 🪓 and compliments to your friend for such a nice gift. Oh yeah I also have 2 Scythe's and used to use my dad's growing up, it's great exercise and relaxing as is chopping wood. Carrying water in the winter to feed and water the animals can be a bit of a chore 😅 and a bit annoying having to heat water on the wood stove to get washed up but I can say that they are some of the best years of my life and learning to appreciate the simple things in life. I've always been an outdoor person from a young age and going for walks with my dad. Needless to say therein is peace to be outdoors and in touch with nature and your own being. I'm hoping to eventually be able to return to that lifestyle 🙏 God willing. A small cabin a creek or stream on top of the mountain ⛰ I love the mountains! 😉💖 Thanks again for helping me to visualize my dream.

Kalle, what you said is so true, about telling others what your plan is and that they "do not want you to break free", because they will have to think about their life choices. I feel like I am going through this right now, with my plan/wish to start a life (retired) in souther Italy. I have some support, but I get a lot of backlash, especially and unfortunately, from my husband and son. Italy makes me happy and I want to be there. I feel like I have worked so hard to get where I am in life, that I deserve this new start in Italy. I may not be as adventurous as you, Kalle, by leaving a job to start anew. But I'm getting close to retirement anyway, so I will hang in there and maybe end up in Italy too.

Wonderful video ! - I really like how we get to see these different parts of your life and also sharing your worldview 😊 - very inspiring 👍🤗. That tap water moment kind rattled me though seeing as though we are moving away from our luxury and into a place without a shower and running water 😅 - oh well, it makes life more “alive “ !

I'm new to your video. My grandparents left Sweden for the U.S. in 1910. They should have stayed in Sweden. Grandma was born in Sundsvall, Sweden. I think I'm much like she was. Her name was Anna Pearsson. They took one trip back to Sweden before my mom was born. My mom taught me two things in Swedish, "I love you" and "How are you" but my accent was bad 😞 so it sounds like Who Murdered The Dog. Your life looks healthy and clean. I'm 65 years old. I've heard the Swedish my mom and her mom spoke is Archaic now. Time passage.

My great-grandparents brought my grandmother over in 1869 when she was two! My grandfather whose name was Erick Perrson, came to the USA after he finished the University. His family lived near Malmo! My grandmother told me I was a Swedish girl in Swedish! We lived in a Swedish Community in north Seattle! I picked up Swedish from my neighborhood kids! I feel so connected to Sweden but have never been there! My daughter went and said how clean and neat everything was! I have met a cousin through Ancestry! As you can see my name is similar to your grandmothers! I enjoyed reading what you wrote!

    Wow Kalle,
you really feel to me like the sensitive/experience-rich person, that broke through to the 'mainstream' youtube-platform showing a life is possible for the kind of people that I feel like I'm too.
Am an aspiring craftsman about to start on the blacksmithing basics, so seeing that gorgeous axe is really a treat and a thumbs up to persue a dream.
That clickbait was really enjoyable, and all the other parts showing off your goofy side. You're a king showing the way through. :)
