It's a shame that in today's society it's harder to live a natural normal life than an unnatural life.
@@tiff590 Yes that's true. What I mean is that if you wanna do this you can't just go and live like this, you basically first need some money and build something for yourself in order to evenbe able to leave the "civilized" world. I mean, this natural life is considered strange even though it's basically just normal.
@@tiff590 Definately, which is why we always have a tendency to go from simple to complex. Because it's tough to always stay ''simple''! I assume a lot of people are going ''backwards'' to simple living just to get back in time, get back to our roots. But, for the most part, they eventually install modern amenities, improve this and that, etc....like our ancestors did, up to where we are now living. But since they will only have their own lifetime and not generations upon generations to do it, they will stay relatively simple for a long time. From 1850, no water , no electricity in most houses, it took many generations to where we are now with complex houses and sophisticated cars. Pretty amazing though what progress was made. Now it's time to see how we can progress and not destroy what's left and hopefully decrease inequalities somewhat. I love the simple life (weekend thing) although I mix in both 1850's tooling and modern ones, manual labor with automated. I'd say most people are in it for the feeling that doing things by yourself gives you a feeling of empowerment and connection to nature when using old techniques or using natural elements. I know it makes me grounded to nature, in a world where so many things are ungrounding us. I guess it's a balance. The most difficult part in staying simple is how easy the modern stuff can be, but it removes the connection you have with simple gestures. Then you go back to a simple life! A neverending quest! Good for those who are curious or feed on exercise.

It's not actually. This is what life was like hundreds of years ago. It was hard work. You worked from sunrise and sunset. Our modern world has made it much easier to live. Living a "simple" life like they are is basically Living like the pioneers did and it wasn't exactly glamorous. This is just the reality.

🌳🌲🌳 There are no work shifts or working hours when you live on a self sustainable farm. You have to work 12 hours daily. I grew up on one. Then 16 years in London. And my future will be again a remote village in Lithuania. Amazing quality footage, by the way

🌲 As a kid I grew up without a dad to teach me how to be a man at the lumberyard so I can relate.
Yet somehow over the years I kept faking it and now I can build an entire house and renovate anything.
I know you know this but I’ll say it anyways, you are a good man who is doing more than most men would ever take on.
It’s impressive and inspiring to watch your videos.
I agree. Ive built my current log cabin/tiny house from scratch, slowly adding to it - solar, plumbing, finishing work... THIS IS NOT "SIMPLE". You have to problem solve constantly, about everything we take for granted - electricity, hot water, etc. THERE ARE MANY, MANY CHORES. You have to acquire a vast amount of knowledge to get everything up and running properly.
It ain't easy, but It makes you far more resilient!! Great video.

With no running water in our summer cabin I understand the shower struggle, so you could do like us in finland and build a sauna where you can stay warm and heat up the water

In February of 2020, I took a leap of faith with my fiancé and we bought 5 acres of bare land, I thought I was crazy, in fact I still question if this is the right thing. But he saw my dream, and together we have decided that we will make my dream that has turned into our dream happen.
There is no house, no running water, and no electricity. We are doing everything ourselves.
You’re cabin is beautiful, your honesty about how living a simple life can be harder is so very true. But also very much worth it.

I put the tree in but forgot the text!! I'm so glad I found this channel. I can totally see how much hard work it takes to create a simple life. What I also see is a lovely couple who are happy and have great ethics. The laughter was great to see when he was trying to drive the tractor. Genuine laughter is such a rarety in these modern times. I'm sure that I would have done much worse if I had been trying to drive it! Love the new door!

My soul is longing for the life we all used to live like this... I felt so emotional of how society has got into the state it has, consumerism at its most extreme.
The greed for more and more and also the control of money from huge corporations.
The cheap building products that dont last.
More and more are finally seeing how this is and are starting to return to normal way of living. As lets face it, todays version of ‘normal’ is far from normal, as its creating a much more complicated life of issues that I dare not even start to mention...
So many of you that share this lifestyle with us, are hugely inspiring and I thank you immensely.

I would rather live in the middle of nowhere and face daily hard work like getting water or firewood, than living a city life with all the rush hours and waiting for couple of weeks of holiday once in the year. I know how life in the countryside looks like, because I was raised there, but I love that life as it is. I would rather struggle without running water than working 9am-5pm for rich company and someone's new yacht or holidays on Bahamas, working around bullies or people who have nothing better to do, but making new gossips about others, being stuck in endless road traffic, breathing polluted air, paying more and more bills, etc. Living in the countryside is hard in some way, but it doesn't have to be hard, it's always about how organised you are, it's giving so much possibilities to make this life much easier, allowing to enjoy every minute.

Yes I live in a tiny house and moved in during a big snow storm with no utilities... well an extension cord with one plug 200 or so feet from the barn; and some small tamnks of propane I used little by little to last through the storm. Sponge baths, etc. It sure makes you appreciate basic necessities. It'/s great to feel part of a community delving the rich life of connecting back into the world! much joy and wellness to you Kalle and all who are here and our dear world home.

I moved to New Jersey from the UK and live in a small rural town with water wells and sewer pumps and septic tanks and log cabinswith a frozen lake at the moment such a change and a far cry from Leeds in the UK and so having a slight taste of what it is like with the upheaval you have gone through with your move. My hubby and I are enjoying your RUclips channel we only just discover about a week ago. We live in the USA but really love the path you have taken in Northern Sweden and the values you hold as you work to live a sustainable lifestyle. Your videos are well done. We are live on a limited income in our retired years. It is refreshing to watch real content of life as we find most shows on TV are not to our liking. We are subscribed, hit the like button & watch the commercials that as we understand helps support the making of these beautiful videos you share on RUclips 🌲🌲🌲 thank you. We are trying to slowly catch-up to your present day videos. Yes supporting local business is very important. We have a grown daughter who has her own small business self employed and works hard to make ends meet as a graphic designer, plus being a single mom. Living simple is indeed not easy, but working for herself is rewarding as she now is also teaching her young daughter who wanted to start her own business at the age of 10. There are trade offs when you choose to do what you enjoy instead of just what can make you a lot of money. Life teaches us many lessons. Thank you.

Ive watched a lot of RUclips Videos over the course of I'd say two years now that are relative to this sort of channel. I truly enjoy this natural way of living, I hope to one day be in a similar situation as you, as much as it seems it can be frustrating, I know I'd rather have the burden of collecting firewood, food, building shelter, etc. than thinking the enjoyment of life will stem from materialistic items or money. I wish this is how society was, granted these videos might not be a thing if that was the case, but everyone would be happier, less competition.. sometimes I feel as if I'm in a race to do, be, or have the best things, when in reality none of this matters at ALL. Keep on influencing the world in a positive real way, you earned a subscriber for being YOU!

You did not ignore it and you continued until you found the life that you thought that you should be living. No it's not easy, but conveniences aren't either when you are totally unhappy. With the current events happening in London. Yours and Jonna's channel have been an escapism platform for me. I've always loved the outdoors and would try and spend every minute outside when I can.
